Played a game against a normally cool guy at our local club who got really upset and frustrated throughout the game and at the end effectively told me off for bringing a cheesy list with too many tanks.

Just wanted to get some thoughts on whether my list was cheesy bullshit in context and how to deal with these sort of situations.

I said beforehand that I had a fair amount of tanks and walkers in a shooty iron warriors list where I wanted to test some stuff out and he said he'd build his list accordingly.

We played one of the open war missions where you have to destroy all of your your opponents 3 objectives before they destroy yours, you destroy them by controlling them at the end of turn and because he had less points than me he drew a ruse card that gave his entire army immunity to morale which obviously gave him a further advantage but that's cool, it was just meant to be a fun game.

He got first turn as well for much the same reason and took out my Daemon prince , a ten man csm squad as well damaging one of my vindicators and destroying one of my objectives. I hit back hard though with the vindicator stratagem being particularly powerful and the predators too.

He managed to kill all my csms and a vindicator but didn't have much left to deal with my vehicles which ground him down in the end. He forgot some rules as well (like his autocannons having two shots) which I didn't notice. He granted perhaps had some bad luck too which he certainly complained about lots ( though he ignored in this his sentinel on one turn surviving 3 lascannon hits with a 6+ save)

He then as I say got really upset and said how this game was basically over from the start because I brought 6 battle tanks when he had an anti infantry list. I said if he'd told me before hand I would have changed my list up and that I let him know what I was bringing but he was adamant.

So did I fuck up by being a cheesemonger or is he soiling his pants a bit too much ?

3. I've been collecting Guard since 3rd and been playing on and off for a while. I also got a decent sized Ministorum army from 5th and I recently split the Dark Imperium box, so I have 2 Nurgle halves. Don't know why I did that. I got caught up in thinking Death Guard would be neat, but I have lost interest in them so I will probably sell off the sprues eventually. I'm holding onto them for a bit in case I have a change of heart again. I'm not bothering with the Sisters units because they are metal, so I just use the Ministorum units.

I doubt I'll do another army. I'll just do various mixing of Inquisition, Guard and Ministorum. Maybe I'll add in some Deathwatch units if I do a Xenos Inquisition force or some Sisters of Silence/Sisters of Battle later on.

Alright, so with that in mind is it worth giving up Coven units like Mandrakes, Wracks, Grotes, and Haemes? The first being a strong unit and the rest being because they look kew.

I just wish we had Webway Portals or some other means for units to have a Deep Strike option. Looking at the Index, DE lost a lot of maneuverability and synergy without the portals and losing DS on units like Raiders.

The collection of units and rules for Ynnari make a compelling argument for giving up Coven's main units, but I don't know if I would want to.

Sounds like I just need to be a fa/tg/uy and collect them all.

I think so. In 8th edition nothing actually stops him firing all of his weapons, so he can fire a meltagun, flamer and combi plas/melta all at once at 2+ to hit at different targets if he wishes. He's not awful in assault against random blobs either with mechatendril and power axe. He's pretty squishy but cant be targeted as a character.

The healing is also a lot more reliable and the ability to just deal a wound to an enemy tank is also really useful, considering he can do this in addition to shooting..

I had something happen that was somewhat the other way, I've brought it up before. I was going to play a 750 game with a chill guy I ran into a few times, and I told him, "I have a weaker list today since I brought most units for fun" and he responded with "Should I bring a Custodes Land Raider? That would be a dick move though right?" I followed up with "Yeah a little bit, I don't have anything to combat that, but bring whatever you want, it's your army".

So he brings the Custodes Land Raider and 250 extra points because he thought the wargear was included in the unit price. The game was over so fast, so it didn't bother me, it was just funny. Like hey man, I'm playing extra casual today, oh okay, let me bring my shit stomper list. I personally think that he thought didn't have enough models to fill out 750, so he brought everything he had, which included the Land Raider. This is factoring in him not realizing you had to add the wargear after.

Machine-god dammit, this blows. The only other unit that consistently performs well are my Infilitrators, and their only good for clearing MEQs and GEQs. I know the key to victory with Admech lies with Cawl supporting a core of Neutron/Icarus Onagers and Phosphor Kastellans, with MSU Vanguard to tie up the enemy and capture points, while Infiltrators pick off vulnerable units.

But fuck, thats not what I signed up for when I started this army. I picked Skitarii for badass normal troops, super swingy tricks, fisticuff robbie beep boops and hyper aggressive shooting. Now the only army playstyles I like are Flamer heavy Guard, SoB and Dark Eldar.

Admech dex/FoC when?

Current number is two and a few test models of space Marines (like 24 tactical marines from paint testing, only 12 actually painted). I had Tau and Tyranids but sold them off. Thinking of selling my Eldar too.

I have about 4000 points of Grey Knights (even though 8th helped with that, I haven't bought any new models since it dropped and I only had a bit over 3000 back then). My GK still need a single Purgation Squad, and then I'm done buying new models for them.
I also have about 2500 points of Tyranids. They are also actually completed, however I might get another SC!Tyranids so that I can convert myself a Cthulu Style Hive Tyrant.

Maybe give the warriors Boneswords/Spinefists if you still want to run them and don't even bother with a cannon. They still end up being the cheapest synapse you can field, but now they can rape face in melee by dumping a lot of attacks at a unit via pistol shots and bonesword whacks. Also, don't really bother with Toxin Sacs.....ever, I've run those on Hormaguants, a Trygon, even Raveners (they got better this edition) and it still barely justifies itself. If the codex swaps it back to guaranteed wounds on 4+, that would greatly help, but as they are now don't bother.

I've been tempted to pick up Chaos. Chaosfags, sell me on your god. Currently, Nurgle looks least appealing. Khorne has a nice metal vibe, Tzeentch has a great surreal aesthetic, and Slaanesh would be nice for a vaporwave themed force, with the whole aesthetics thing and all.

How the fuck are the gunners' hands supposed to attach to the heavy bolters in a Valkyrie? The triggers don't fit into the slot on the back of the gun.

It's Guard or Orks and maybe I'm leaning towards Guard now because of the greater tactical options available. Would 2 Scion SC boxes with a Defense Force be a good idea to start? What's min-max points cost that those models reach?

Don't buy it unless you have access to a Machine Shop to assemble the damn thing. A friend of mine paid me 40$ to assemble the FIRE RAPTOR, which is like half the size of the Stormbird. I'm looking to build a thousand Sons army when I get money again.

fluff-wise, I plan to make it a proper amalgamation of prodigal and loyalist Sons, with paints to match, so I want to fit magnus and ahriman both.

Assuming I don't run any tzeentch daemons, can someone recommend me a list of stuff to pick up for a decent, fluffy 2000 point list? I have no idea where to start.

I personally recommend Slaanesh out of pure personal bias.
Emperor's Children are fast, able to take lots of assault options, and second only to Khorne in melee.
Daemons of Slaanesh are fast and good at wiping out hordes.
Slaanesh powers are pretty good too, the daemon powers are a little unimpressive but the Delightful Agonies power makes any unit a tank.

I know less about Daemons, but 10 Bloodletters can decimate a Terminator Assault squad for a fraction of the cost, very good at killing MEQs and TEQs. The Bloodthrister is one of the single creepiest things to face in the entire game, and is only greater daemon with 3 variants, all of which are awesome. And Bloodcrushers were buffed this edition, you you've got nothing to lose.

Keep in mind though that all Daemons infantry (even nurgle) are quite fragalie and are not very mobile (even slaneesh). You'll want to always field your infantry at max unit strenght, regardless of which god you choose.

Well if you want Daemons the Slaanesh Chariots are awesome.
You know those old push lawnmowers? The ones with no engine? Imagine someone took one of those, made it into a chariot, assigned daemonic serpent horses to pull said chariot, and made it's main method of attack crashing the spinning death wheels into the enemy.
You can run one as a Herald too for bonus psychic power.
Slaanesh Discipline isn't as good as it was last edition, but Cacophonic Choir can do some damage to low leadership units, symphony of pain makes your opponents less dangerous, and hysterical frenzy can potentially net you a second fight phase, though with the way anyone can fall back from combat that last one isn't really worth taking.

What provides good ranged support for footslogging berzerker squads? I considered allying in some Russes or Basilisks, or getting a predator or two for ranged AT, but I don't know.

mechanized is dead in the sense that they are no longer efficient at outright winning games. That doesn't mean it doesn't work, it's just not optimal.

The chimera took a serious blow this edition, with 50% higher cost, loss of fire points, loss of command vehicle, and loss of amphibious with nothing to show for it other than lasgun arrays.

More than anything else, the fact that you can no longer shoot from vehicles means that they are just taxis now, not support vehicles and certainly not mobile bunkers like they used to be.

That being said, the taurox and taurox prime both both big buffs this editions and are now basically good enough to be light tanks. They put out absurd firepower for their points, and with tougher vehicles being the norm now stay on the field longer. As a steel legion player I admit this bothers me more than a bit, since it seems like GW has been wanking this damned truck ever since they shit the model out and now the chimera has suffered for their favoritism. Nonetheless, the tauroxen are very cost effective gun platforms.

Games as mech guard won't be as merciless as infantry spam guard, but honestly that's a good thing in this edition since conscripts and drop scions are OP right now. People will enjoy playing against you more.

I think that while the Chimera is definitely the worst of the Guard DTs now, it's not genuinely bad.

In fact you'd probably be hard pressed to find a genuinely shit unit in the Guard index this edition. Even Veterans have a place because they're BS3.

Can I field two weirdboyz and have them both take "Da Jump" as their psychic power? I've been told I can't but I don't know why I can't have two units have the same psychic power other than smite.
