So I've been playing D&D for a while now with a certain group and we all want to start a new game. I suggested Call of Cthulhu because I've heard of it before. We've decided that we want to do either 7th edition or the d20 System Version from 2002 (picture related). Any suggestions?
Also Call of Cthulhu general

bumping because my group is thinking of doing the same.

Joe? You in here?

Use 7th. The d20 one is garbage.

When run it, remember that it's a horror game, and therefore shines in one-shots.

I cannot recommend the d20 version as a system to use at the table, but the GM's section has advice on running games that ranges from good to excellent.

I see you say that you have decided to go with either d20 or 7e, but please allow me to add: we (long-time players) found 7e really not all that exciting--the changes from earlier editions were in the end underwhelming, less-than-necessary. (Although Pulp Cthulhu is pretty cool.) Perhaps consider using 5e? (The 6e book had poor graphic design and was a pain in the eyeballs to read.)

Any way you go, it's a great game--have a good time.

What actually is wrong with the D20 version, aside from the standard "it's d20, ergo it must be bad" spiel.

Use Cthulhu Grey.

With Stealing Cthulhu

An even better idea (well, more true to HPL's writings) would be Lovecraftesque.

d20 is a huge mistake, run CoC 6th edition

>d20 Call of Cthulhu
You've committed an offense against all of gaming just considering it.

CoC d20 is the GOAT version to be honest. Haters gonna hate, but stuff like the psychic feats is excellent.

Delta Green Keeper question here. How do you feel about allowing your agents access to very minor spells such as Elder Sign or weapon enchantments? Using spells seems like a no-no for Delta Green agents but in some cases they'd be incredibly useful for defending against the Mythos. For example in Music From a Darkened Room one of the solutions to the scenario is to use an Elder Sign. Some spells ok? All spells evil? What do you think?
