Wow, brand new general. Ok, I have what should be a quick, easy question. I was under the impression that you can only use one Stratagem per phase. Is that a restriction, or am I misremembering? And if it is, what page is it on in the BRB?

Are chaos cultist that good? I don't see chaos players in my LGS even use regular CSM and If they are, they're proxied as havoks
>>
>>54950569
Do you have a friend who is interested in Deathwatch? Grab Deathwatch Overkill and split the cost. Give him the kill team, and keep the Broodcoven and huge blob of infantry for yourself. it even contains 4 aberrants, units you can get from absolutely nowhere else save for resellers.
>>
>>54950514
Is that supposed to look retarded?
>>
The World Eater/Black Templar tactical doctrine is simply brilliant. Normally you'd require tanks, artillery and mechanized infantry to assault an entrenched infantry position, tanks destroying the machine guns that threathen the infantry and the infantry supressing and killing the other infantry that can threaten the tanks.

But the Black Templars/Worls Eaters just say fuck you to the whole process and, realizing their power armor can hold off quite a bit of heavy bolter fire, just run straight at your trench and RIP AND TEAR in close combat where none of your heavy guns are even relevant. Makes me wonder why more marines don't do this.
>>
>>54950601
>regular CSM

aren't havocs just CSM with heavy weapons?

cultists are meh, good for objective sitting. The only problem is that 1k sons and DG have better versions of cultists.

Yes. Genestealer cults completely lack anti-air defense, and as such, a flying hive tyrant or a Hive Crone may be a good choice.

Problem with CSM (and tactical marines for that matter) is that they aren't very good for the point cost

If you want to shoot, get a dedicated shooty unit. If you want to smash face, get a dedicated smash face unit

Tacs and CSM don't do either particularly well though cost as much as units that do

Genestealers don't have to be Allies from the Tyranid list. Purestrain Genestealers are Genestealer Cult units, and thus benefit from faction specific buffs (look at the HQ rules), and share the same model.

Also, while the Hive Tyrant is a great model, it has the "Shadow in the warp" rule which may fuck with psykers from your genestealer cult.

Should I run 2 Scions squads with 2 melta and 2 Plasma or 1 ten man with both, or a 5 man with none and a Scion command with 2 of each?

I don't have enough bits to make anymore right now.
>>
>>54950798
Was the deep striking directly into combat ever FAQ'd or erratta'd?
>>
>>54950725

I was considering the same, had this cinematic idea in my head of 2 ghostkeels and 4 stealth squads with shadowsun getting up close, weathering the storm before charging forward dropping homing beacons to allow farsight and his crisis suits go deepstrike in and charging farsight into the nearest big target like a madman. All this whilst Aun'va sits back with a group of fire warriors and pathfinders slowly moving forward to secure the rear.

The double kauyon/montkah would be awesome
>>
>>54950862
But aunva is ded like sanguinus
>>
>>54950808
Yes run 2 melta 2 plasma. More battilion points.
>>
>>54950862
That could work. As far as I can tell, you can do some neat tricks with stealth suits.

>deep strike farsight and drones next to enemy with stealth suits.
>deep strike the drones within 1 of an enemy you want to charge with farsight.
>deep strike farsight 1.5 inches away from that same enemy
>declare charge
>no overwatch because drones are within 1 inch

>>
>>54950808
Semi-related are melta scions viable? I'm running two squads in my Inquisition list and I haven't decided whether to make the second squad plasma for more of the same, melta for something different, flamers for Inquisitorial righteousness or volley guns because I like the aesthetic even if they're shit.

>>
>>54950981
There's only 2 Ork players at my locals and they both win about 60%. One is brand new and the other is an old grizzled blacksmith who started orks in 3rd and never stopped. He even brings snacks for everyone. So I never understood the shitty ork player meme.
>>
>>54950988
Anti tank won't stop Guilliman from violating you
>>
>>54950974
Yeah. Because you are clearly suffering from a permanent brain injury, I'll just point out that LoW are generally a little harder to take care of than just tanks....
>>
>>54950981

90% of the Ork codex is hot shit, so it's not that surprising that people would run into players who perform poorly. Plus the only way to run Orks effectively is full on Green Tide of 150+ Boyz, and most players, even Ork players, simply don't have those numbers. I do, and even I don't feel like always pushing 200 models around a board for 3 hours.

I've got a large DE army and 8th edition has given me the hunger to trry a different flavour of elfdar - something suitably violent in CC and the only true answer to that is harlequins. To that end i'm drafting up 1500 point lists and this is my first attempt. What say you /tg/?

Troupe master 94
Harlequin's embrace, fusion pistol

Shadowseer 134
Shruiken pistol, mistave

Solitaire 107
Harlequin's kiss, harlequin's embrace

Troupe 150
5 players with fusion pistols and harlequin's embrace

Starweaver 99
2 shruiken cannon

Troupe 150
5 players with fusion pistols and harlequin's embrace

Starweaver 99
2 shruiken cannon

Troupe 150
5 players with fusion pistols and harlequin's embrace

Starweaver 99
2 shruiken cannon

4 skyweavers 202
4 shruiken cannon, 2 zypher glaives

4 skyweavers 202
4 shruiken cannon, 2 zypher glaives

1497

Main style of play is intended to be some extreme speed and basically ganking entire flanks with my army as a whole. A key element will be massivem ulti-charges with the starweavers and skyweavers eating overwatch for the infantry.

>>
>>54951200
And then you run into a space marine player with some predator or eldar wave serpent spam. Knights are shit.

If it's T5, that's 24 shoots hitting on 3s for 16 hits, wound on 3s for 10.66 wounds, saving on 5+ for 6.66 unsaved, which translates to 13.33 damage. Although you can split fire to cripple two Riders instead.

Don't use shit weapon.

Pistol+chainsword CSM are awesome purely because Rhinos are MUCH tougher, basic CSM are cheap, and DttFE gives you a good 3 extra attacks every fight. 10 of them with plasma pistols bubble wrapping a Fist champion in a Rhino lets them kick wholesale ass and win wars of attrition with heavier units like Terminators. The Rhino is a low priority threat as are the basic CSM so they usually make it across the board, but they can happily earn back their investment.

Chaos Champions are fucking dangerous in 8th. They will reliably burst a Terminator or two each Fight phase while the opposition chews through 9 ablative wounds.

Yeah, I kinda did avoid doing shit like shooting entire squads off the board in one turn by only using one end of combi-weapons and didn't open the fuck up on the reivers he dropped into shooting range of a kill-team. He didn't do me any favours by charging said reivers into a unit with two combi-flamers and two DW frag cannons from less than 8" away second turn.

I specifically avoided going after objectives unless they were right in front of me and I let him get his big glorious moment with charging his gravis captain into my watch master without heroic interventioning the kill-team behind him into the fight.

Unfortunately his rolls were shocking to the point I let him take a few re-rolls.

Coalesced from the anguish and joy of a billion souls across a billion lifetimes, it swam in the afterbirth of a new god, shuddering from the screaming reverberations that echoed without end from the wound its arrival had torn in the fabric of the universe.

>From deep within this realm that joined real and unreal, it slipped out from the Sea of Souls, and onto the land of souls. It caressed the material void with questing tendrils. It was a whisper, a mellifluous zephyr that had tempted the ambition of kings and twisted entire worlds into writhing monuments of flesh, shrines for the master of pain and pleasure who was the Youngest God. It was honey and silver and the laughter and cries of aeons of sentient life. It was all of these things, and more.

>It watched the day and night pass over the empires of man, rising and falling, swelling and starving. It watched as they laid claim to the stars, and first drank from the cup offered by the realm of the gods. It watched as those who drank turned upon those who would not, and set their galaxy afire. Champions rose, and as a shining son was born anew within the cradle of the Dark Prince, it found the object of its desire.

Girlyman himself learned that humanity's current role in the war against Chaos is but one chapter in a long saga that stretches back to the start of the universe. There is nothing that makes humanity more special than all the races that Chaos already have consumed.

The Eldar walked doomed themselves by walking towards damnation. Humanity is walking on the same path as the Eldar did dooming themselves in the same way. The Tau are talking the first steps on the path that doomed the Eldar and is dooming mankind.

It's a cycle of extinction that cannot be broken. But there is one certainty in all of this....mankind is WORST RACE.

It is just as much as the Centurion is.
Terminator armour is "armour" and not a vehicle because the limbs of the person within are what power the movement.
Centurion armour and knights aren't moved by the force of the limbs of the marine or human within, they're moved by the armour's mechanical parts.
>>
>>54952076
SoB can fit like 18 meltas in under 500~ between 2 squads of meltaguns dominion with their repressor (they can shoot from inside the transport) that can move 24" and 2 Seraphims with inferno pistols that can also move 24"
Then we have shit like Heavy Bolter retribution and Exorcist that can basically spam bullets or long range melta like missiles.

You can kill 3 knights in 3 turns. I've done it multiple times this edition. You can almost see the knight eyes watering up.

"Battle-Brothers learn to pilot Centurions as part of their vehicle training, and pilots are not chosen from the 1st Company. Instead, they are chosen from the Chapter's Assault and Devastator units. The most frequent explanation of this is that a Centurion's role requires a Space Marine to be fully immersed in a particular style of war, while the bulky exosuits lack the degree of tactical flexibility that the Chapter's Veterans require."
>>
>>54952148

"Protected by thick ablative plates of ceramite, a Centurion warsuit renders its pilot immune to all but the most powerful of weapons. Named after the Space Marine Legion leaders of old, the Centurion warsuit design was unearthed in the aftermath of the Age of Apostasy in the 36th Millennium, and after sanction by the Adeptus Mechanicus, the suits found their way into the armouries of almost every Space Marine Chapter."

Fairly certain there's been plenty of reference to where the servos were damaged space marines could walk around with effort. It would be tactically extremely disadvantageous if they could be crippled by servo damage and not able to do anything.
It's like the difference between a hybrid car and a true electric car. Power armour amplifies the physical motion of a person, but vehicular "armour" doesn't take any of that into account.

That's a good idea. I might add some of the orange I used on the plasma guns.

Plasma guns were a 2 second airbrush job. First red with a bit of overspray to make it glow, then orange and then finally yellow, focusing on the centre.

I exactly have this set:
https://www.hobbytools.com.au/airbrush-compressor-kit-2b-super-quiet/

It's pretty good. The compressor is wicked. The airbrush is a really good entry-level airbrush. I've had it for I think nearly a year and I am getting pretty ready to buy something a little better. That said I don't know how a more expensive airbrush would be better. Any airbrush experts reading this might be able to enlighten me on that.

Tl;DR: if you don't have an airbrush, buy one. Just take the leap. You won't regret it.

Here's some pics of another lazy airbrush army I made, this was my first one. I've posted it here a few times and it receives universal hate. It gets lots of positive attention irl though.

>Power armour amplifies the physical motion of a person
Very rudimentary power armour does, like the forklift suits in the Aliens universe. Space Marine armour taps into their nervous system and MIMICS their natural motions in a way that the wearer isn't really operating the armour in a traditional sense, it's more like a hollow person you stand inside that perfectly copies your every move without you needing to touch the. That requires that the armour be capable of standing and moving under his own power. Marine armour can still move about after a servo failure much like how you can drag yourself around with a broken leg; the rest of the muscles compensate. A full system failure pretty much paralyzes the Marine and requires assistance removing it, but there are numerous redundancies in place to try and prevent that.

Depends on the army really. For Raptors and other sneaky chapters, I find Reivers to be really cool, and they could make a great foundation for some loyalist Night Lords, but for the more noble-seeming chapters, the terror troops thing falls a bit flat and for the more blatant chapters the sneaky thing falls a bit flat. 40k runs on rule of cool, which is awesome most of the time, but it creates a fair number of situations in books where named human characters just body Astartes like they're fodder. It's honestly a bit retarded. I understand a high-ranking inquisitor like Eisenhorn, somebody who's got a fuckton of customized enhancements, but it happens a lot, and most of the time it makes zero sense. Not gonna cry about plot armor or anything, it's just that, realistically, most rank-and file Astartes should easily embarrass elite human veterans.

To be fair. Astartes takes a missile or lascannon to the gut = Ded Marine. This has pretty much never not been canon, hell, Magnus, Mortarion to a degree and a couple other Primarchs were seriously hurt by lascannon and plasma weaponry, and Guilliman said a bolter headshot would kill him outright. It makes sense that one Astartes goes down to a massive volley of lasfire or the squad support weapon those 12 Guardsmen probably have with them, if anything it's the absurd offscreen kill rates Marines rack up that are not realistic in the slightest. They should be dead storming Skitarii or Guard garrisons or entrenched tank lines just by weight of Special and Heavy weapons.
>>
>>54953424

In comparison, Orks of all kinds should all be T5. The average ork can survive a HEAD TRANSPLANT. They have limbs blown off regularly and continue fighting without much issue.

Dudes I have an idea. It's like an all-knight army, except with smaller, sillier people

all grey knights, all grand masters, all dreadknights

>4x grand master in dreadknight- teleporter, sword
>2x grand master in dreadknight- sword, Gatling psilencer, heavy psycannon
>2x grand master in dreadknight- sword, heavy psycannon

Give one the reroll charge WL trait and go-go mighty morphing daemon-hunters
>>
Rules clarification if you would gentlemen

Lets say 4 Devastators fire 4 Lascannons at a unit of 3 Killa Kans. One Killa Kan took damage earlier and is on 3 Wounds.

All 4 shots hit and wound. Now, would you roll the damage all at once or one by one? I ask because if all at once, how would you determine which damage dice are applied in which order?

Say, the lascannons rolled 1, 1, 6 and 3. The Kan player could assign the two 1s to the wounded Kan first, then the 6, killing it but wasting the biggest roll and then assign the 3 to a new Kan.

Guys, if I'm trying to make a Witch Hunters army like the days of olde, am I on the right track?

Looking at 1k points.

HQ:
Saint Celestine
Geminae Superior

Troops:
Battle Sisters x5
Heavy Bolter
Immolator

Tempestus Scions x5 (Inquisitorial Stormtroopers)
Plasma Guns x2

Elites:
Ministorum Priest
Arch-Flagellants x5
Rhino

Fast Attack:
Seraphim Squad
Hand Flamers x2

Heavy Support:
Exorcist

Suggestions?

I'm using old cherub models as Seraphim, which I think will look great with Celestine.

Inquisitorial Stormtroopers are there for cheap deep striking plasma troops.

A head transplant under medical supervision is a different thing to having your face exploded by a bolt round. Then again after so fucking long boyz are S4 base again and thats fucking huge (especially with the new to-wound chart).

Remember the golden rule of all things 40k: there is nothing that can't be solved by a nob with a powerklaw.
>>
>>54953441
>In comparison, Orks of all kinds should all be T5. The average ork can survive a HEAD TRANSPLANT.
I'd chalk a lot of that up to Painboyz believing they can make it work.

>>
>>54953456

For simplicity sake its best to roll 1 by 1.
>>
>>54953424
The problem with that is, an Astartes should be able to draw his weapon and gun down those dozen guardsmen before they can react. And if they're fighting on rough terrain, an Astartes has a massive advantage in everything that matters, speed, mobility, stealth, senses, accuracy, lets not even talk about close combat. An Astartes should be able to easily ambush and kill a dozen guardsmen.
>>
>>54953464

Never take heavy bolters on sisters ever. At 1K you should either ditch celestine and take a cannoness or go balls-in with cheap as fuck troops and go maximum celestine and excorcist murder.

At 1K celestine and triple excorcist will stop anything marine tier (or tougher) cold but hordes stoll pose a problem. You'll also never hold any objective ever.
>>
Why do Grey Knights mind wipe Space Marines? Do they mind wipe Knights? Are Stormtroopers mind wiped?

Please answer.
>>
>>54953464
For the price a of single heavy bolter you can give a 5 Girl squad 3 storm bolter and a power maul
3x Rapid fire 2 weapons what they lack in S and AP they compensate by dakka

Seraphims with hand flamers are rather lame after the hand flamer nerf. Give them inferno pistols instead
>>
>>54951043
World Eaters, given the context of Khornate daemons.
>>54951023
The detachment would only be Chaos in that case, so you'd lose out on legion traits, as it would simply be CHAOS, KHORNE. It would be battleforged though.
>>
>>54953464
You can have Celestine, 2 Melta Dominions squads inside a Repressor each and 2 inferno pistol Seraphim squads under 1000 points.
You basically face hordes and multi wound rather easily with that setup.
60 orks are no problem
>>
>>54953479
That shit is not how the Waaagh works and it has never worked that way outside of retarded memes. An Ork picking up a square brick and believing really hard that it's a titankillerpowered megashooter won't make the brick shoot building sized shells. The Ork-Gestalt helps out, but the heavy lifting is done by the Orks themselves. Their teleport technology actually works, a head transplant works by virtue of somewhat sensible medical procedure (for Orks) and their incredible toughness. You can straight up chop their heads off and they won't die for a few minutes and their regenerative capabilities allow them to take easily to new body parts or cybernetics.

A question about re-roll. So today I read the FAQ and there is this.

> You can never re-roll a dice more than once, and re-rolls happen before modifiers (if any) are applied.

So for example my Marine have Power Fist which -1 to hit so I have to roll 4+ for him. And somehow he rolls 3 which is fail, normally i'd re-roll this but the rules said the re-roll happens before any modifiers are applied. So that means I cant re-roll it ?
>>
>>54954120
I dont think it says a roll has to failed to be rerolled

So try this on Chaplain then, so if my Marine with powerfist is near a Chaplain and I roll 3 which is failed the hit for him. But the rule said re-roll happens before before any modifiers are applied. So which means I cant re-roll since the WS for marines is 3+ ?

That is an argument though. Specifically, it is a counter argument.

1. Tabletop says this about X
2. Tabletop isn't canon, therefore your argument relies on faulty principal.

See?

"not an argument" should be used exclusively when people respond with something that isn't an argument. For example:

1. Tabletop says this about X
2. You're a faggot

Statement 2 is not an argument. It is an insult.
