Does anyone ever think that the Night Lords are actually incompetent at being scary? Space Marines don't really feel fear the same way we do, so maybe they're stuck with an extremely naive view of what ordinary humans find frightening? A view that entails attaching cheesy bat wings to their helmets, or putting skulls on everything even though the Imperium is already covered in decorative skulls.

They would shout battle cries like "The call is coming from inside the house!" They'd jump around corners and scream boo! And when that's all done, they will flay the skin of their still-living victims, not because they think doing it would be frightening, but because they're Chaos Marines and that's what they do. People would naturally still fear them for all the atrocities and brutalities, but in their heads the Night Lords are convinced that it's the cheesy plastic vampire fangs in their mouths that are making those guardsman shit themselves to death out of fear.

Basilisks and Mortar HWS feel so good on paper, but every game they do like 0-2 wounds a turn. DCA seem great on paper, but they are so fragile. They usually instantly kill a unit on the charge, then they die to a sneeze. Crusaders do okay damage, but usually struggle to wipe a unit in one go, but they also tank a shit ton of damage in return. They manage to kill units then move on to kill another.

Primaris Intercessor Marine loses 1 wound, lives.

Primaris Apothecary regens D3 wounds per turn; or can bring back 1 slain model to the unit.

Would you rather bring back a 2W model or a 1W? It's the same act but you get double the value from the same act by bringing back a primaris. Similary, by regenerating D3 wounds, you can keep primaris marines in the fight longer.

That's a commissar problem, not a conscript problem. Guardsmen and conscripts have both always been overpriced for what they do, jacking up their cost would not be the way to fix them.

I agree they are a problem right now, but that problem exists only because commissars are low-points no-effort methods of making them never leave the table. Either commissars need to be more vulnerable or their buff needs to be nerfed. It's a commissar problem, not a conscript problem.

Models brought back by an Apothecary only get resurrected with one wound. And you can't target the same unit with more than one apothecary in the same phase.
So actually it is way more efficient to bring back 1 wound models than ressing multi-wound models who can't be healed back to full until next turn and must have unsaved wounds allocated to them until they die again.

let's theorycraft that and find out:

>2 shots each at max range, 4 up close under perfect circumstances, average of 3 each
>1500 shots

>33% accuracy, 500 hits
>33% wound rate, 167 wounds
>33% armor fail rate, 56 meqs per turns

At 1800 points, a MEQ army can field 120 marines, so yes, in a vacuum where all the conscripts are in range and getting an average of 3 shots conscripts overpower MEQ.

However, you need to factor in the existence of transports, which soak up lasgun fire no problem. 100 marines with 6 rhinos stands a much better chance than 120 marines on foot. You can't beat guard in the bodies game, but their bodies only carry s3 rifles. I honestly admit you have a point, but the problem is more complex than just footslogging guardsmen dishing out more damage than footslogging astartes.

Nids are in a fucking great place. Super balanced codex both internally and externally(for the most part). Hormagaunts are one of the best units in the game for just tying up enemies and disrupting their lines with 6" pile in and consolidation. Use them to jump around and get their tanks into combat so they cant shoot next turn. Absolutely devastasting tactic

They're alright. Hormagaunts are good at getting across the map quickly, though you might find termagants with spinefists are better for melee combat if you can get them in through a trygon tunnel.

Also, swarmlord special/psychic powers are good at getting units into close combat - swarmlord+genestealers is a great combo, though I know genestealers isn't what you asked.

There are a few nice combos you can pull right now. Swarmlord is one of them. Tyrannocyte with pyrovores is actually workable - they gave it a 10 inch range, so you can reliably shoot with it after it gets out. Yeah, pyrovores are actually okay now compared to 7th.

Old one eye is pretty strong too. In errata, they changed its aura to affect the CARNIFEX keyword, rather than just carnifex units, so that it would affect the forgeworld carnifex - this has the side-effect of giving itself +1 to hit, which is insane when it gets extra attacks on hit. It's worth messing around with.

Just working on some useless rubric marines, anyone got any tips how to maoe that thousand sons blue to pop after washing?

The more I think about it, the more I realize that alpha legion is meant to be a shooty army, and not a choppy one. So while first turn charges with berserkers being basically 90% reliable is great, it doesn't seem worth the investment.
