I was thinking of adapting the Redfort in a vacuum, not the whole setting. Not even the gigantic expanding red forest but the fort as a localized phenomenon; it might turn out to be the start of the setting's Redwood.

Maybe a Darkest Dungeon situation of someone digging too far and, accidentally or not, hitting upon something terrible that overtakes the place.

I'm thinking extraplanar encroachment, the red plant monsters are the very topography of a different plane that someone opened a portal to unknowingly. A wizard that thought he could control the expansion, or a cleric who thought he was summoning his eldritch god.
In either case, he'd be hidden somewhere deep into the fort's underground, terrified of what he's done but incapable of leaving by himself,

Its definitely a good start, things like the Redfort are ultimately just the classic "no one knows what lies beyond" marker crossed with an aspect of being the last outpost of what the player characters would reasonably recognize as civilization. Seeing even that bastion beginning to either be overrun or integrated with the wild other land it borders could either be seen as horrifying or inspiring (depending upon the character, and that in itself could be an interesting question to make players think about how their characters think)

One could find caves, abandoned cellars and castles housing organs of the redwood, which halt its expansion if destroyed. The vochs might not know that they descend from local population mutated into antibodies. The "portal" might be a huge bloated tick-like Devil Lord and/or Lavos, leeching off the material world.

All those plant formations are grown from it originally; you could theoretically find the root connecting it to the lord, and cutting this root off is a certain way to kill any redwood vegetation, but not easy at all.

I would prefer if the redood was all plants, Voch and bugs. Having a more complex ecosystem I think makes it less frightening.

I think we can set on a sorceror's experiment gone horribly wrong. He meant to summon a being to bargain with for power, but had no control over what he was summoning.

Adventurers wouldhave to search for the secret to banishing it. It's too large to be killed with weapons and can't be reasoned with.

Also, Spread is fucking incredible. I just finished issue 1 and I'm eating this thing up.

I'd usually assume I'm the only one that wants more literacy focused filler/backstory, but going by this thread I'd bet I'm not. I doubt Lydia can write, maybe she reads, and Ogze is presumably more of an oral historian due to her culture. Alduin's literacy can be taken for granted, I assume.

Cillian will be interesting to see fleshed out, and it might be fun to see a little picture of Melly misbehaving in Pickering since Alfie left.

I meant the scenes a bit before they started fucking, when Lydia was trying to woo Alfie. He wrestles Marco down, who plays along for a while, then turns the tables with little effort when he thinks Lydia is disturbing Alfie with her forwardness.

Oh yeah that. Well again, Lydia was just goofing around there. Marco got serious, and since Alfie takes place in what seems to be a more realistic world, escaping a good grapple is a lot harder than holding it. Even still, I only gave Lydia 2 more strength than Marco, so it's not like that's a massive difference gameplay wise.

Hm, you're right. Lydia would probably be a Barbarian, and Marco a Fighter. Proably give him a starting Martial feat. I don't imagine either one would be above level 3 though. I would say Marco would be a level 3 and Lydia a level 2, both inexperienced, but Marco clearly came from the upper class. He could probably be a beast if he worked out, but he's skinny and just toned.

Sooo.. what about Alfie? What's her stats and class? Level 0 Traveler? Level 1 Slut? Level 5 Slut?

This could also add some conflict/drama/balance-seeking in that the hellcreep is actually beneficial to a race/society, giving some appeal to the idea of establishing some kind of "hellcreep reserve". Perhaps circling it with a road made of concrete mixed with holy water? The good and old magic barrier mixed with ley line manipulation? Seeking the ancient foreign geomancy known as "feng shui" where ley lines are called "dragon veins" and their nexuses "dragon lairs"? I know one player which would love this nation-building just be the hero for the tieflings.
