There are a few options that are missing in the codex that appear in the index: why is that? Does that mean I can’t use these models in my army anymore?
While the indexes are designed to cover a long history of miniatures, the codexes are designed to give you rules for the current Warhammer 40,000 range. There are a few options in the indexes for some Characters and vehicles that are no longer represented in the Citadel range – certain Dreadnought weapons that don’t come in the box, or some characters on bikes, for example.
Don’t worry though, you can still use all of these in your games if you have these older models. In these instances, use the datasheet from the index, and the most recent points published for that model and its weapons (currently, also in the index).
They still gain all the army wide-bonuses for things like Chapter Tactics and can use Space Marines Stratagems and the like, so such venerable heroes still fit right in with the rest of your army.

And Death Guard ones are more versatile. Rubric Marines have 2 special weapons, and its not really a choice. Do you want flamer or rotor gun? Plague Marines get 4 melee weapons, flamers, plasma guns, melta guns, blight launchers and so on. Tons of options.

Scarab Terminators also suck. Stuck with one melee weapon and very few special weapon options.

Dont do forgefiends, get a Predator or a Sicaran if youre into FW shit.

People can easily slot a Super-Heavy within 2k points. So bring enough Dakka to deal with a Baneblade or a Knight. but that is about as much as you need killing power for.

I will be using a Knight as an Example here T8 and 5+ invuln. A land Raider doesnt have an invuln though so -3/4 AP Weapons are slightly better in that regard

A forgefiend with 3 Plasmacannons (197p) does 1,32 wounds per turn to a Knight, hades-autocannons+PlasmaHead (195p) are much better with 2,44 wounds per shooting, still pretty lousy considering how shitty the forgefiend gets with the Damage Tables

8 Autocannon Havocs (290p) will do 3,55 wounds on the Knight each round of shooting

8 Lascannon Havocs (330p) will do an average of 6,22 Wounds on a Knight each shooting, not taking into account rerolls/buffs/CP but with a large Variance as they could potentially kill the knight instantly.

Predator Tanks are significantly tougher to kill than 5 Havocs and put out the same firepower as them for 190pts instead of 180pts but cant benefit from most buffs or stratagems

Melta-Bikers with Combi-melta Sgt. (134p) do 2,77W or 3,42W within 6" per shooting but thats considering Rapid Fire Range and they need to get in range first

Raptors with the same kit are 138 points and do 2,45/3 Wounds but get to deepstrike Behind

3 Oblitetrators (195p) get to deepstrike are tough to kill and do an average of 5,77 Wounds on the Knight

How many Points you actually relegate to dedicated anti-tank is mostly up to what youre playing against. I'd say start around 500 points and adjust after some games. Could always bring your own Knight and go jousting

You should use a standard grandmaster, though, I think. The GK characters can't use the "first to the fray" warlord trait that allows rerolled charge range. I'm also considering switching back to a GM just for the sake of that.

I guess, but Draigo is 50 points more for more wounds, a better save, better cc weapon, and a better aura. I'm still not 100% sure on my list atm, so I'm gonna try out some different stuff, like that Stormraven-Brothercaptain-purifiers combo a different anon was talking about.

For now, all I know is:

Lasmissle Dreads are killer good (might just be my meta, though, I've seen alot of monsters and vehicles since 8th)

10 man Paladin Squads with an Apothecary and a Grandmaster/Draigo. Absolutely deadly. Expensive as fuck, and kinda unwieldy since you if you GOI the Paladins you leave behind the supporting characters. Have always been 100% hit or miss in the games I've played them. Either they destroy my opponent so badly that I could play just them without the rest of my army, or I misposition them and the die a slow, agonizing death while trying to reach other targets on the table.

Purgation Squad with 4 Psilencers are amazing. Psilencers in general are amazing. 2 points more than a stormbolter, automatically have force activated, and have been buffed by the to wound chart. Good against hordes, monsters, vehicles, you name it. Can't wait to try out the Stratagem that gives them S5 AP-1, thats gonna be brutal.

Huskblade isn't that great, I'd swap it for an Agoniser.

Sslyth and to a lesser extent Medusae are by far the best of the Court and worth getting multiples of, but if you just want one of each for fluff/style thats cool too.

Put your Reavers in one unit so they can all benefit from Painbringer.

I think I'd juggle your points around a bit and Swap one Kabalite Squad for Trueborn with Blasters, even if it means you have a few empty seats in their Raider, you'll find massed splinter fire doesn't do a whole lot when you need it to. I'd make up a rough draft for you about I'm about to go to sleep.

Don't forget if you have excess points to spend it on stuff like Phantom Grenade Launchers, you can fire them at the same time as your other guns.

Powers are good. I like Sanctuary on the Terminators and Purge soul on the Captain.
I guess you could try giving the Purgators vortex of doom instead, I'm not sure Astral aim will be used at all if you are that close to an opponent.
Keep your Brotherhood Champion alive, GOI is one of the most useful powers in the entire game, since he can cat it on other units as well. Great for grabbing lategame objectives when noone is around to contest anymore.

Except that's not how it works. The Flamer isn't a special option, you can give one to every single model in the squad.
Also, unlike Plague Marines, their base wargear is all they need.

The hell they do. They're stuck with a good and cheap melee weapon and a bunch of good weapon options. That is in addition to them being even tougher than normal Terminators.

And they also have Tzaangors for frankly pretty decent and cost-effective melee and Brimstone Horrors for cheap Troops slots.

Everything else they can use Predators, Daemon Engines and Helbrutes for.

A Slaanesh Havocs with Heavy Bolters and Endless Cacophony stratagem. Casting Prescience on them for better chance of hitting.

What's the best way to go with Inquisitors? Special characters? Terminator Inquisitor?

I feel like for their points, they cost too much to do anything.
