Trying to remember whether it was Fiber Master+Meatball or Fiber Body+Meatball that basically made you Carnage. I plan on going with whichever was that. But I'm also considering Bone Spear+Blood Manipulation 'cause I fucking love being an edgelord. But this is gonna be like, Jump 1~2 so going with an ability that's inherently dangerous to me might be a poor decision.

>>54840912
Kill Orochimaru? Anyone who has read the manga knows where he'll be at several points in the timeline.
All you need is a sufficiently out of context ability to blindside him with.

Or if you want to be really sure get Conjoined Conjures (Card Captor Sakura) or I Cheat (Justice Leage Dark), get magic in Shadowrun and an instant death spell (killing curse from Harry Potter works, but even JLD magic should have something).

Then get a picture of him or something that once belonged to him and use Shadowrun Sympathetic Magic to kill him no matter where he is.
Since the Naruto setting has no magic there's no defense.

The end result was - I lost the ability to teleport via materials. But I could take on their properties, and then while Overhauling people or objects, incorporate materials into them while their bits re-coalesced together.

I went quirkless and created a magic system that only works for people born without quirks using Hero BBS. It wasn't overpowered, and it grew stronger through training and mental flexibility. There still weren't that many magic heroes, but it made the world a little more fair.

Y'know, despite what the Jump says, the whole 80% figure is actually about the total population, and that according to All Might, the amount of people being born without Quirks is rapidly decreasing (it was uncommon in his day, it's very very rare in Deku's), meaning your magic system will magically stop working.

It's a magical realism story that starts out in the "real" world in the "saddest city in the country of Alifbay" (so sad that no one even remembers the city's name). A famous storyteller has lost his will to tell stories, so his son travels to the Earth's invisible second moon of Kahani to get his dad's Story Water tap fixed. Only he's come at a bad time, as the evil Khattum-Shud is poisoning the moon's story water and needs to be stopped.

I added more details about the story in the Notes section at the end of the jump document.

Time to seduce yandere chan away from senpai. With the flawless logic of if I seduce her than she won't be after senpai or we can share senpai
>>
So a quick question to Heavens or Digger if they're on. Are the Ganbarizing and Legend Rider Gashats canon?
>>
>>54841235
I don't know why, but somehow, I always knew Nicolas Cage would be into Yanderes.
>>
>>54841107
So all these that are listed are already made? I'm new to this thread.
>>
>>54841355
You'll need some good perk backing, because Yandere-chan explicitly notes that she never felt anything until she found Senpai. Like actually nothing, no joy or sadness, hate or anger. Just an empty shell.

Apparently that even runs in the family. Her mom was the same way.

>>54841414
Yup. Our autism is boundless.

I know soul bonds are a shitty fanfiction trope, but is there anywhere in jumpchain one can pick up a soulbound companion? I'm not talking about cp fiat loyalty, mental compulsion, or "one true love", but a metaphysical connection or bond.

working on the world of cultivation update right now, adding in a thing for just that.

Paired Cultivation: 2 (FREE WITH LIFELINK SIDE EFFECT)
Your Cultivation can be linked to the cultivation of another binding your souls together closely, as long as either of you cultivate the other will receive the same results from doing so. Though paired cultivation is extremely rare the results can be staggering. This is limited to Cultivation between two people and often is permanent once the cultivation of the two is linked.

Lifelink: (Optional side effect for paired cultivation)
The life of the two people linked by your paired cultivation are invariably linked, should one of them die the other will die as well. No distance or walls can stop their fated end together.
>>
>>54841368

Probably not, if only because we've been trying to keep weird movie/crossover canonicity to a minimum

Quirk Marriage of Synesthesia+Snake Hair, with a boost from Empowered Quirk.

The empowering allows the Synesthesia side to work with other physical senses besides the basic five (and the snakes), and allows the Snake Hair side to be a full head of snake-hair in true Medusa-style instead of just having three snakes.

I've got a whole fucking lot of sensory input there. Especially considering I'm pretty sure my other sense boosts do apply to the snakes' senses.

Mila's Turnwheel from Fire Emblem - Valentia is great for this, especially when combined with something like Let's Give It a Boost from Unholy Heights. At base, it can "rewind" time up to thirty minutes, three times every five hours. But with that perk, you could make it something like 1 hour, six times every ~2 hours. If you wank items can be improved multiple times, you can push it even further. Basically Savestate 2.0.

No doubt the jumpmaker will add some inter-jump restrictions like "this item can't be improved or duplicated by anything ever, no matter what". Even if such restrictions are added, it's still pretty good for such purposes, so don't expect to see it in the next update. Get it while it's hot, as they say.

All it says is that Konoha needs to be the only remaining great ninja village and dominant power in the Elemental Nations. While destroying the others would be easiest, aggressive cultural assimilation followed by actual assimilation should work. Vassalization (might not be thinking of the right term) after intense diplomancy should also be valid.

It's a piece of the bindings that imprison the elder god beneath the estate, reforged into a weapon that's a joking reference to the name of the studio that made Darkest Dungeon. You have two options when using it. As a hand-held weapon it's incredibly sharp and can slice open portals to let a tiny portion of the Flesh to reach through into reality and attack targets. Set down as a stationary totem/shrine thing, it warps space and turns the surroundings into all sorts of eldritch geometry.

okay, highlight for it you sick freaks

Emojis have a baby factory for them. They are small at first, but grow to become big. When an emoji is made, it is handed to a pair of similar emojis to raise it. Eggplant and water emojis work at the plant when not in use, and they get paid for it. This makes them slightly richer than the other emoji.

There is NO baby realm for them. I thought this up because I felt it fit the dystopia setting of the movie

Seems much better than the other 400s. Same with the PC something capstone. They seem much stronger or to have way more uses at a way higher level.

Actually, nix that complaint on Chop Suey, it seems more like the first tree's 400 needs a buff since the other two are both good.

>Arabian Nights
That seems awfully large for just 200, I'd say it would fit better as drop ins 400.

>Bottled Wishwater
No. For one, I don't think this should be in at all. It blows everything else in the jumpout of the water and it's limits are frankly pathetic. The fact that you get a use every jump is even worse. Just wish to get a power exactly like that really high cost perk you couldn't afford, since that's totally allowed under the rules.

I think you should leave this item out given how badly it overshadows the rest of what seems like a fairly low key jump but if not, you need to seriously work on the limitations here because by the rules I can still just wish for 'nigh omnipotent reality warping' or some other retarded power.

Human and Servant as racial backgrounds, pick one separate from the rest of your origins. Got suff based on being a summoner and on being a servant respectively.

Then the 8 role based origins-
Drop In (Modern/Future Servants like the Emiyas are here, possibly also assorted characters that don't fit elsewhere)
Mr Protagonist (The MC, both the canon two and Gudako)
Leader (Marie, king or leader Servants)
Creator (Roman, Leo, other crafters)
Anti Hero (Alters and villainous heroes that help you/are summoned by you)
Big Bad (Goetia, Demon Pillars, Flauros and the general actual bad guys of part 1)
Helper (Mash, Fou and the various Servants that join you in each arc as helpers for free)
Bad Guy (Various antagonists that aren't the actual big bads, from Gilles to Tiamat. Kiara probably won't get much play here since she's getting a background in Extra later)

Chop Suey: To clarify, you're saying that Will of the Dreamer is the one that needs to be buffed? I admit, I had a little trouble finding things for the Drop-In background.

Arabian Nights- Actually, I had it at 400 initially, but I thought that since it was essentially just a glorified pleasure boat without any special properties I should reduce the price; I can raise it if you'd like.

Happy Ending- It's a little unclear in the story, actually. After the climax of the story, the Guppees offer Haroun a happy ending. So after he wakes up, his father gets his storytelling gift back, the corrupt Mr. Buttoo gets exiled, his mother returns, and his hometown finally remembers its name. Haroun wasn't looking for any big miracle, so I doubt that that is the extent of the sort of happy ending that the P2C2E House can produce.

Dark Ship- I kind of agree that it could have a higher price; I mostly just thought that the Plug and the Sadness Factory were more valuable so I had to put it at a lower position.

Bottled Wishwater- The thing is, I was really trying to limit the abuse through this. Wishwater is common in the world, and while I could lock away access to it, people would get mad that I restricted a key part of the story, so I tried to compromise by making the best wishwater something you need to buy.

I could just say that you get a single wish to make in the current jump, but I'm worried that if I do nobody will pay all that money for it.

Actually, I had a nifty set of limits in the initial layout. In a world where magic didn't have a big role, you'd need to continually wish for 11 minutes for it to work, no breaks. For a magical world, 11 hours. For something that affects jumpchain as a whole, 11 years of continual wishing, never hesitating in prayer for even a second. But I was told that that would be too much.

Therefore, I followed the example of the Disney Princesses' Genie companion and made the restrictions parallel to that.
>>
>>54844900
Just use the hatred gauntlet. Satisfy your irrational and infantile hateboner for SB using that.
>>
>>54844952
>Therefore, I followed the example of the Disney Princesses' Genie companion and made the restrictions parallel to that.
The Disney Princess Genie also specifies that the thing doing the wish-granting isn't omnipotent, rather than just barring access to omnipotence.
>>
>>54844916
>Not an entirely Imperial Knight focused jump
Pleb taste anon.
>>
>>54844952
Yeah, the other two 400s are equal with each other but that first one is lacking a bit.

>Bottled Wishwater
The problem Cataquack, is that you didn't follow Disney enough. Genies can't do everything. They have specific limits and then they also have only a certain amount of general power. Your option lacks that. There is nothing that stops one from wishing for enough power to destroy a multiverse, since that's not omnipotence, and your not working with genies who aren't that strong.

If you had a limit like that where you are limited to the level of power shown by genies = and/or present in disney movies. It might work. You'd probably need to not make it an every jump thing because why would you buy anything else but it'd be more balanced.

And that wishing time limit does absolutely nothing to help the problem. All it means is that you'll just need to use a jump with enough time to get what you want. Aside from the fact that affecting jumpchain as a whole reeks of some nasty shit.

So yes, limit it to just a few uses that don't replenish and severely limit the power or get rid of it entirely.
>>
>>54844952
desu CW, having the water there is already kindof an OTB. The rest of your jump isn't exactly filled with strong competitors and the price isn't that high on the wish water to make up for it. Most of your perks feel quite limited to this setting and only having story telling applications outside of it so it's hard to see why you wouldn't go for this awesome wishing item that can give almost anything once a jump.
>>
Thus anyone know of any item fusion perks or items in any jumps (don't mean imports)

>>54845060
Part of the trouble is that the wishwater doesn't have any defined limits in the setting, and I am reluctant to go too far from canon and nerf it.

The one wish used in the story, for instance, was so that the second moon, Kahani, which has always had a single side perpetually exposed to the sun and the other to night through a Process Too Complicated To Explain, would immediately shift to a normal rotation and cause the noon sun to instantly shine down on the wisher's location.

>>54845092
I thought that the wishwater was fairly expensive since it's 600 with no background discounts; would it be more acceptable if I raised it to 800 instead?
>>
>>54845259
Not everyone is a shitposter, anon. Just curious about what perk is supposed to give time-travel in the jump, since a quick search revealed nothing.

Or did I just fall into the bait?
>>
>>54845315
CW, that is STILL infinitely more limited than your current version even if you limit it to that moon shifting stuff.

And if that Process was done through a wish, why is it that the process is also a perk?
>>
>>54845315
>Part of the trouble is that the wishwater doesn't have any defined limits in the setting, and I am reluctant to go too far from canon and nerf it.
The Exalted jumps have the sense to say their Perfect Defenses aren't literally omnipotent. Are are you saying that this "Wishwater" would canonically be able to grant power on par with the Outer Gods of Lovercraft? Because doing something with a moon is a far cry from being able to offer anything short of omnipotence.
>>
>>54845315
Not really? You're looking at a lot higher cost and it's really starting to seem like the jump is being made for this wish water, especially since it's so much shorter than your other stuff.
>>
>>54845300

Cool, the Protag's super harem ability is basically an EX+ NB by itself. Would it help with hostile conceptually anti-love beings?

Also, would the 400 cp perk for Humans in Angel Notes help with the above (romancing beings who lack the concept of love)? Or that human perk from God of Highschool?
>>
>>54845354
Okay, let's not throw accusations around like that. Thanks!
>>
>>54845315
Cataquack. With your item as is, I could say "I wish for every single perk in Jumpchain to be turned into a power and given to me at 1 billion times strength" and that would be valid. EVen if you said that violates the meta rule, I'd just write down all those powers and do it that way instead.

Your no omnipotence clause is not a limitation worth considering.
>>
>>54844780
I was thinking of something like Star Wars, but without the Force. You can just roam the stars and pick up alien women.

>>54844782
Two drawbacks for Girls Bravo i thought would be cool would be the allergy problem that the main character faces and one that sets Maharu after you. She is desperate for a man and believe that you are the best (you are the Jumper after all), immune to all of your powers and if you do marry her it is a chain ending drawback. Evade her long enough and the Seiren govt might get involved just to get rid of her. But if you stay unmarried for the jump then you could talk her as a companion.
>>
>>54845395
The Notes thing would deffo work, GoH's one...possibly, bit more dubious since it's not outright designed for that sort of thing.
>>
>Naruto updates
You know, given that so many people take the fanfic, I'm half-tempted to suggest a Dreaming of Sunshine scenario.

No idea what you'd have to do, and no idea what the reward would be, apart from maybe offering Shikako as a companion, but I'm tempted to suggest it.
>>
>>54845315
I'm not sure why you complain about wish water being plentiful when you've already put a limit on it in the jump itself.
>>
>>54845395
An EX Rank Noble Phantasm centered around harem building, that seems like a great way to spend SP in any Fate jump.
>>
>All the SB creeps keep telling him to stick to his guns and offer the nigh omnipotence repeated use wish thing
this is hilarious
>>
>>54845431
I know right? They're so wonderfully hypocritical and happy to ignore all the evidence against their choice when it's something they want.
>>
>>54845354
The reason the jump is so short is because I have limited resources. Haroun was just a single novel, only a couple hundred pages long. Not to mention that the setting took a magical realism approach and maintained a sort of surreal feel. So while there was enough interesting stuff to fuel a jump, it couldn't be as long as my other jumps.

Though wishwater, I admit, has a large role in the setting. It's one of the key items used for the climax, and more importantly the narrative implies that it can be found at various points across Kahani's oceans. Therefore, I was trying to limit the potential abuse by making it into an item with decent but fair restrictions in place.

As everyone as said so far, your restrictions are not. The only limit on power you have is no omnipotence which still allows basically everything else. Heck, you can even wish for omniscience and omnipresence if you like.

All people are even asking is for you to cap it to the level of things shown in setting and yet your absolute refusal to do so is making people start to suspect why that is being refused, since it's a pretty reasonable ask.

umm Im about 3/4 done on my updates to the world of cultivation jump if you are interested in something I have planned for there?

I may need to work out the wording on it a bit some though, its based on something recent

current draft:

Underground Nether River- 600
The Underground Nether River is silent, It 60 feet wide and is spectacular to see. The river water of the Underground Nether River are as sticky as glue, are black yet clear, and flows without making a sound. The water in this river is extremely suitable for the creation of Mo Weapons, by placing a part of yourself or another creature as well as a weapon into the waters you can guide them to merge and create a mo weapon, a weapon connected to you much like a talisman or a flying sword though often times more powerful, not because of superior forging techniques but because of superior materials conglomerating to create a weapon.

This pool has the special property to not only work well for forging mo weapons it also has the effect of combining multiple weapons or items into 1, as Xaio Mo Ge did with his Sky Snake Ten Transformations Pike, doing this imbues all the powers of of the items into one while allowing them to also shift between forms of the items used in its creation. The Sky Snake Ten Transformation Pike was a powerful Earth Mo weapon but its real power came from its ability to shift into ten different weapons, now you can create something similar.

When used it with the parts of a creature forges a better weapon depending on how strong the creature in question was and has minor affinities based on the creature and the part used, for instance using the claw of a fire dragon will probably create a fire attributed mo weapon ranging between a dagger and a sword (considering how big the claw is). Though weapons created will be much more impressive if you have some training in forging already…

After the jump it can become a warehouse attachment should you wish it.
>>
>>54845754
A power that lets you travel between different worlds, possibly with a forehead mark to signify it.
>>
>>54845843
Huh, Toggle does say that you can turn off perks, not just powers granted from perks. Interesting. I still would rather use a different method, though. If I used Observer and just turned it off when not using it, I could still accidentally lock in an event I didn't want to happen while I had it on. So I need either a perk that just lets me lock specifically what I want and not everything I witness, or I need the ability to defy locked events in the timeline. Do you think anti-fate effects would be able to do that?
>>
>>54845875

>>54845886

A perk for making small tech. Fukuyama made a whole vr game in the manga.
>>
>>54845754
And a strange pet from Seiren. They had killer teddy bears and the strange seal thing.

I can see the origins being something like; Drop in, Student at the school, One of those Seiren cops (the ones that go man hunting on Earth), and we need one last origin. I can't think of a fourth.

A perk for the magic and science of Seiren. An item could be a warehouse addition that adds an open air bath with a large Earth floating in the sky. And a house is always a good item for early jumps.

As for companions I am sure even if Fukuyama despises men, he would be happy to go out into the multiverse to hunt the women of many worlds. Any woman on Seiren would gladly marry the Jumper as the gender ratio on that planet is only 10% male. And the pervert did have a really cool ninja maid.

But I would still take Maharu as my companion. she just wants love and I like red heads.

I have tried to be fair with the Wishwater item and prevent key ways to abuse it. I cannot prevent every potential means of abuse that sneaky people could think of, not without overly chaining down the wonder and magic that the item embodied in the story.

Here is a revised version of the item:

Bottled Wishwater (600 SP)- A bottle of pure Wishwater, able to grant virtually any wish if you wish hard enough. There are a few limits to the wishes, though, as the water is not quite omnipotent despite its dreamlike capabilities. You cannot wish for more wishes or for complete/total omnipotence or immortality in general. Wishes that target specific people to kill/mind control/resurrect them are likewise out of the question, and while your wish might have the potential to alter reality to some degree, wishes that would drastically rewrite history or the metaphysical framework of the universe won’t work. Also, wishwater cannot be used to alter the “meta” properties of the jumpchain like wishing for more choice points (CP), changes to perks, or extra discounts. After the wishwater is used to make a single wish, the bottle will go empty, and it will not refill until the next jump. Neither the bottle nor the liquid can be duplicated in any way.

I will consider feedback, of course, but I intend to keep this item as part of the jump close to its current form.
>>
>>54846039
Top student works or even normal Seiren resident. You may not be close tot he MCs, but your life on a world of women would be interesting. Maybe we should gender lock that option.

People have told you what would fix it.

All you have done is give a wishy washy 'not quite omnipotent' thing that does absolutely nothing to fix the problem. People cna still wish for all the powers they want.

If you're not going to change, I'd ask that you take the jump back to SB because this sort of 'wish for basically anything you want' is not okay.

Why are you this ABSOLUTELY FUCKING ADAMANT about keeping this canon when you've already made a lot of non canon changes and you'e never had a problem making balance changes in your other jumps?

The item is not balanced compared to other things in the jump. It's not balanced against the entire chain. it's already non canon. You've already limited in setting things like it. None of your other stuff in jump comes close to this and indeed you can get everything else in your jump with this one item.

Are you starting to see why people are saying you have ulterior motives with this? Or is the SB cheer squad making you dismiss all complaints as shit posters?

>>
>>54846082
My thought is limit it to physical alterations. Can move moons and all that shit, but can't give you powers or other problematic things.
>>
>>54846082
Okay, let's try some more reason. Your two main reasons for not making the change everyone asks for is canonicity and keeping the wonder the item made you feel, right?

Canonicity. You already gave that up. You added plenty of limitations that I assume it does not have in canon. There is really no room for saying it's not changing to keep it close to canon when most of the description is changes like that.

The feeling of wonder. It is not going to work that way. Maybe in setting but this item? It's a one use per jump thing. People are very unlikely to use it on a whim for some joy in magic. They're much more likely to keep it as their get out of jail free card. Their one free coupon for something they want from this setting. A way to nab a hard to get power or create a companion they couldn't get otherwise. Something that is almost assuredly going to be used for abuse by it's very nature. Even your description completely obviates any sort of wonder, given how filled with limits it is. Why would you just throw away your once a jump 'do almost anything' card unless you actually needed it?

It's not wonder, it's purely utility by this point. And if it's going to be that way, which it is, you can at least make it balanced utility. And who knows. Maybe making it able to be less of a 'do anything' card will make more motivation to use it for fun.

>>
>>54846286
>>54846308
Or maybe it's because the people there give reasonable opinions I respect and aren't making me feel overly pressured and targeted. They brought up some good points, as I feel like you are forcing a lot of caps on an already-limited, high-priced item when a lot of other things get a free pass.

>>54846309
I think that this might be a reasonable compromise I can consider. The issue is that Kahani is a literal dream/magical world, so I hardly think that magic should be excluded.
>>
>>54846424
And adding to this.

The SB thing? You're basically holding a gun to your own balls. It is a very unpopular decision that will rile tempers and you're getting advice from biased sources, at the very least from the view of people here. >>54846424
The point is, Kahani, and the setting as a whole, is a dream world, and a key theme in the story is specifically against how people in the real world want to tear down at the "impossibilities" of things until they aren't fun anymore. That's why I am concerned about putting too many arbitrary limits on the item.
>>

You know why you're being pressured? Because you're offering a wish that lets you get basically anything you want. it's broken and crazy. People go after that stuff.

>>54846496
Except almost your entire description is arbitrary limitations. There's a lot of them already. And a lot of those limitations could be lightened if the perk didn't have the massive, gaping loophole that is the complete lack of any limit on it's power beyond the omnipotence one.
>>
>>54846496
It's really starting to get silly how hypocritical you come off as. The reasons you keep using to defend your choice feel ridiculous when you've done those things already, in this jump and in others. CW, you are currently on both forums. Other people are allowed to be on both forums. It has been known for years that people go to both forums. You are the one posting in a public forum on a subject directly relating to what is being discussed here.

Grow up.

So you say there are stronger things but have no examples.

Except that still means you can do things like destroy all physical matter in the universe that isn't alive or make a physical thing that gives you whatever you want, like a magical potion. All it does is add an extra step to getting what you want and not a big step.

Cataquack, you're the one who has put no power limits on this. There's nothing to abuse because as far as everyone can tell, you're completely fine with it having no power limit aside from omnipotence.

if it is abuse, tell us what the limit is meant to be. If it's not, find another excuse.

How about this:
"As it is drawn directly from the Sea Of Stories, Wishwater can only be used at an appropriate point in the narrative of your journey; and it can only be used to solve a narrative problem, by the least effort possible.
If you are surrounded by an army of darkness, it could move planetary bodies to bring sunlight, but not grant you the absolute power to destroy the army yourself. If you crucially needed star-metal to make a villain-slaying sword, exactly enough star-metal would fall into your hands to make the sword, and not a gram more.
Wishwater cannot interact with the areas under your Benefactor's control. I'd explain how, but it's a P2C2E."
>>

Ooooh. I thought you meant someone else made the jump and he was just acting as the cover for the real maker.
>>
>>54846608
All right, let's look at your guys' "examples":

>Any Xianxia jump.
You know what the justification usually given for these is? It takes tens of thousands of years to get even to mook-level power.

>Any of the higher-tier DC and Marvel jumps.
Galaxy-level, with training.

>Overlord the Series. Prototype.
Utterly fucking irrelevant.

>Super Robot Wars. The freaking Light of Terra (Alpha-grade psykerness, it damn well counts).
Utterly fucking irrelevant, even if you couldn't wish for all of them with this item.

>Charmed. Any Exalted jump. Potentially any D&D jump.
Barely above planet-level, for the most part.

>Hero BBS. Touhou. Highschool DxD. \
It all takes time. And Touhous are still more limited than omnipotence, most of them barely exceed star-level. Highschool DxD shouldn't even be on here.

>Rick and Morty.
Still limited and less than omnipotence, closest thing is dubious WoG.
>>
>>54846712
Still seems broken as fuck but there is that macguffin item in Generic Dungeon Crawler. Should still not respawn in that case though, since you'd otherwise just get to solve one thing from free every jump.

For one, drawbacks are fiat enforced by the jumpchain, so the wish wouldn't be able to affect them.

>>54846777
>Also makes you even more hilariously hypocritical about keeping it canon.
What do you mean? I like it because it fits more with the flow of the story, which is all about stories and narratives driving the magic. So I was happy that someone found a way to make the item fit more with canon.

I'd like to point out that many of those powers are things you can spam at a reasonable rate. The Wishwater? You can only use it once a jump. That considerably limits it compared to those in my opinion.

>>54846863
>Second, you were the one going on about arbitrary limitations. Now you're perfectly happy with one that limits you to only using it at certain points in a story?
That's because these limits are ones that would make sense in the context of the story that the jump is based on; I'm embarrassed that I didn't come up with that approach myself.

>>54846890
>No one will care beyond that. just say it can't do anything beyond that one moon feat. It's so fucking simple.
Why would anyone want to buy something that only lets you change the orbit of the moon and nothing else? Even if that's not what you meant, it's kind of vague to define what's more or less than that feat, especially when doing so required overcoming the P2C2E in place to regulate the moon; the eggheads even said, "Whatever is doing this possesses a force beyond our power to imagine, let alone control." People would still be making their own guesses on what is more or less than that.

Listen, The Sandman is also a story about narratives driving magic. Dream of the Endless, the embodiment of stories, is not the most powerful and absolute being in it, and even has a distant but confirmed ceiling to the scope of his influence. I've asked you straight up why you think the item in question should have indefinite scope of control and you haven't answered, although I understand you have a lot of replies to take in at the moment.

Listen to >>54846890. He's absolutely right. Wishes exist in Disney as well, and nobody minds those. I'm positive some of the Fire Emblems and the DC settings have wish macguffins too-and because they don't have clauses like "you can wish up practically anything sans consequences" or are available as CP purchases nobody minds them either.

I get the impression you're overthinking it a little much, when the main issue is that so far I at least have no reason to believe the setting you're describing warrants a wish this powerful.

>>54846979
And by the way "change the orbit of the moon" was meant as what some people call a "softcap", as a benchmark for the kind of wishes you can use it for.

>>
Okay, I think I found a way for the narrative-based focus to work without making it ripe for abuse:

Bottled Wishwater (600 SP)- A bottle of pure Wishwater, said to be able to grant any wish. Well, if it’s for the sake of the story, that is. As it is drawn directly from the Sea Of Stories, Wishwater can only be used at an appropriate point in the narrative of your journey; and it can only be used to solve a narrative problem, by the least effort possible. This also means that the Wishwater’s wish acts to fulfill the story, so you will have increasing difficulty if you try to use the wish for “cheating” purposes rather than something that satisfies the conventions of the story you are in. Therefore, your Benefactor has the authority to cancel any wish that he/she feels makes things too easy. So while you could wish for something to overpower your greatest foe in a dramatic battle, wishing for unlimited power so you can easily kill him and everyone else in your way is hardly likely to work. Wishwater cannot interact with the areas under your Benefactor's control, so no wishing for things like extra CP, perk changes, or extra discounts. I'd explain how, but it's a P2C2E. After the wishwater is used to make a single wish, the bottle will go empty, and it will not refill until the next jump. Neither the bottle nor the liquid can be duplicated in any way.

Is it okay now?

Yeah, I know, that's why I used the term. This is a hard sci-fi jump I'm working on, cosmic space gods have no place here. And I guess letting people name their own would work. That could be fun. Though that does raise an issue with another item I wanted to include. It's going to be a space elevator. Probably going to be pretty expensive, but the Meru space elevator being built is key to the setting so I want to include it. And I just want my own space elevator, if I'm being completely honest. Anyways, I was thinking of calling the one you can buy either the Qaf (for another sacred mountain) or the Aksheyavat (another really tall thing in Hinduism). Should I instead have the item just be "The World-Pillar", or something like that?

This description now feels like it's breaking the immersion you used to justify scaling the effects up by so much in the first place. I've asked you several times how a limitless wish is canonically supported-not implied, but outright confirmed-by your setting and you haven't answered.

To be honest I don't know why you haven't used >>54847195's suggestion already, it's the simplest solution and doesn't exactly misrepresent the setting if it still does what it does in canon, it just treats that as an upper limit for a possible feat.

You just reminded me.

For those of you who are interested in the LWA jump, apparently the Japanese twitter just revealed that sufficiently powerful witches turn into trees.

And before you flip out, it's not "when your magic stat hits the cap you turn to wood on the spot," you gradually become tree-like as you grow in power, and when you finally hit the end of your life you completely turn. Also, your soul becomes a magic force-ghost thing.

>doesn't even fully defeat something hit by it
No, it doesn't kill the specific example of Aristoteles because they lack the concept of death and the Black Barrel lacks the capacity to apply it. For beings which don't possess that property, there's little reason that level of damage shouldn't kill them.
>>
>>54847172
I get that it's an important macguffin, but maybe just don't offer it. Sometimes it's not worth wading through shitstorms for the sake of one item.
>>
>>54847261
>>54847294
Not him but I'd also like to point out that the Black Barrell didn't really even fully destroy the thing it was fired at. Sure it put it into a permanent coma by enforcing the concept of Earthly death on it, but it's body can still eat corpses or release population killing angels if it moves too much and it's mind became one with the hopes and dreams of the native life.
>>
>>54847329
That's very cool
>>
>>54847387
Depends on what they derive their durability from. Like, a science-based super monster would be only harmed a little, since it scales to their supernatural energy and such a monster would have little to none.
>>
>>54847387
Really? Because the jump maker seems to disagree in the fucking description they wrote you imbecile.
>>
>>54847378
It's a house-rule supported by the very first jumps and enforced in a few besides them.

Barring that, just game interestingly. Plenty of e-celebs are apparently "interesting" enough to have a massive following.
>>
>>54847320
I was actually one of the (apparently few) people who knew what [Glass Him] actually meant, and didn't do it.

I lost my sides when I found out how many people didn't know that's supposed to be an attack, not a friendly gesture.
>>
>>54847378
Entertaining the Benefactor is meant to be the reason you're chosen to go to Pokemonland, and if you're interesting enough, jump other settings. Some people don't care about that, and that's fine. Others try to argue anything they do is entertaining to the Benefactor by default, otherwise they wouldn't become Jumper, instead of just saying they don't want to play that way.
>>
>>54847378
It's not really a rule, but the premise is that you're supposed to be entertaining your Benefactor. You're breaking the spirit of the rules, if not the letter.
>>
>>54847416
Yep. That's right.

>>54847417
No, they don't. It says it increases in damage based on the supernatural power of the target, and tells you what effects that would have on the Aristoteles, as part of the example. It's never implied to be an all-encompassing rule. Go read it again.
>>
>>54847387
Whoops, didn't notice you already covered it. I think you're only half right though, doesn't the gun's power scale in proportion to the inherent lifespan of the target? So like >>54847416 wouldn't be that hurt if it just lives 40-60 years or so, but a thousand year old guardian dragon spirit would probably bite the dust, you killer queen
>>
>>54847417
Really? Let's look at the description.
>The Second Original, found next to its sibling weapon. This Black Barrel is an immensely powerful conceptual weapon, one of the few things that can reliably defeat even the Aristoteles. It is an enormous black rifle that is made from a special anti-grain material. Any being with grain in them cannot even touch the gun, regardless of their power, though you seem to be the single exception. Known as the God Killer, the gun fires a single bullet that becomes more powerful the more grain to be found in the body of its target. Against one of the Aristoteles, it can defeat them in a single shot, though it should be noted the difference between defeat and kill is quite large indeed. In future worlds, this grain will instead count as any supernatural being or energy. The greater the power of a supernatural target, the greater the bullet will become.
You're kinda full of shit. But that's to be expected. Yes, wohoo, the gun can defeat ridiculously magical things in one hit. You'll note that the gun is dependent upon actually hitting and is not a fiat backed win. It merely inflicts massive damage against a specific subset of foes instead of auto winning any one thing each jump.
>>
>>54847467
So...why would you assume it auto kills anyone else then? If it can only defeat them in one shot, not even really defeating them since it's perfectly fine really, why would you assume it does more to others? Where in the item does it say it scales that high?
>>
>>54847512
I'm AGREEING WITH YOU MORON.

I was pointing out the other guy was an imbecile for saying it auto kills any supernatural opponent.
>>
Are there any perks or weapon upgrades that can reduce the projectile travel time of a ranged weapon to zero, so the projectile instantly arrives?
>>
Black Barrel doesn't auto defeat or kill anything supernatural. It scales with the more supernatural energy/power something has, but most of the time really strong beings are as tough as they are strong. The best you will get in these cases, where somethings durability or toughness increases with it's magical power, is severely injuring it/knocking it out of the fight for a time, depending on it's other abilities.

In the case of beings that do not have their durability scale with their power, and they're not boosting it some other way such as through an active use of their power (Mage using reinforcement to boost it), then yes it may be able to kill something with sufficient magical power. But those are fairly rare.

It is a really good weapon, even against scaling durability guys, because of the damage it can still do but for most foes it is not a game ender. it's also not immune to a variety of abilities that could deflect, negate or otherwise destroy the bullet. Nor does it have infinite range, it's still just a rifle.
>>
>>54847550
Sorry, had read that badly.
>>
>>54847604
That's okay. I imagine a lot of us are on stress levels.
>>
>>54847480
Black Barrel Replica scales to natural life span, Black Barrel Original scales to the Grain (magic space dust from the inside of the world) within the target.
>>
>Yes. Val seems to get a pass for a lot of stuff that others don't for some reason.

Even SJ-Chan thinks it. They really are all hypocrites, huh?
>>
>>54847602
If you merged it with a melee weapon, would it be able to impart its effects on-hit, or would you still need to shoot stuff with it?
>>
>>54847592
Not that I'm aware of, though you can simulate something similar with portals, space warping, and/or time dilation on the bullet.
>>
>>54847635
Hmm. Yeah, think it should work. It's made of the material so contact with it should effectively accomplish the same effect.

Should probably be careful who you loan it to though, you're the only one with the fiat protection from it's effects even if you have supernatural power.
>>
>>54847659
Aight, thanks.
>>
>>54847602

Question about "supernatural" as used here - Is this specifically in relation to "magic" or would it also apply to, for example, the alien biological reality warping of the Entities and their Shards from Worm, or Kryptonian "superpowers"?
>>
>>54847592
How big is the projectile? TNG/DS9 has a sniper rifle that can teleport bullets directly to your target, you may be able to reverse engineer the technology and add it to the gun you want.
>>
>>54847659
Does it work to dispel magical effects and items, or is it just meant to be used against supernatural beings?
>>
>>54847706
It has to be supernatural in the magic/ki/etc sense. Those things are supernatural for us, natural in their worlds. Er, you know what I mean. It's just biology/tech, not explicitly magic bullshit.
>>
>>54847723
Just against beings, though I imagine it'd also do more damage to magical objects too. I don't believe it has any abilities to dispelling magic.
>>
>>54847592
I think one of the superweapons from Blazblue technically does that? Arcum Dei Odin or something?

>>
>>54847793

>>
>>54847735
The only thing I know is Murakumos can directly connect to the boundary to harness 'virtually unlimited amounts of power' and from the sound of the perk it sounds like we have something like Mu-12 with the ranged lazer blasts.
>>
>>54847773
Generally, unless they have a way to deflect or dodge the bullet or even pass through it unharmed. Their toughness will make them more able to survive the damage the bullet deals but unless they're unnaturally, extremely tough for whatever level of supernatural power they have, the bullet will pierce through their defences. They can still regenerate from the damage or other such things, though this is a lot harder if you just shoot them several times in succession.
>>
>>54847804
This sounds like a great way to mess with enemies by pretending to trip and drop the weapon, thereby making them pick it up to use against you.

Occasionally psychically patting the biogenesis vat it sleeps in, teaching it all the standard Fire Emblem hero of justice codes of conduct.

I wonder how the Thanatophages get used in Dragonscape's "strive to usher this world into an age of peace and prosperity" mandate? Maybe they bind with it's hyperevolutionary slurry, and walk up to people offering to crawl inside them in exchange for biological immortality? Judging by the number of grown men in armor running away from small bugs, that idea doesn't seem very popular.

It took all of my cosmic PR to convince Marth that the shambling pile of dragon bodyparts slithering under his kingdom is definitely a net positive for the world instead of a bonus boss.

>Your highness, I don't see the problem here
>IT LOOKS LIKE DUMA BUT SO MUCH WORSE
>No really, Dragonscape's blood is safe and nutritious to drink, and if you have any border security problems it can spawn dragon-apple forest-reefs to defend your country

Is there anything that keeps conflicting abilities from conflicting? Not where you can only have one thing, or having more than one thing kills you, but where you can have both things without any complications whatsoever... but when you try to use them, they're either weakened or harmful. Like Espers and magic from To Aru and similar things.
>>
What I really want to do with Angel Notes is combo Knight's Armoury with the Soul Eater perk that lets you empower yourself with your courage, so that I can literally wield a weapon made out of my courage. Or maybe swing something with the Madness of Boobs so you can create a weapon born from your obsession with boobs.

I don't know if that's how those perks work, but it sounds like a cool idea.

>>
>>54847837
Yes, but isn't that all dependent on those abilities not relying on supernatural power that was negated by the Black Barrel?

I mean if they could survive a bullet because of magic healing the wound, that doesn't really help them when the magic is gone. I thought the whole mechanism behind black barrel is that it just disintegrates any Gain/Ether (or post jump supernatural stuff in general) that it touches thus completely fucking over anything that has a significant portion of themselves relying on Grain/Ether/Supernatural stuff.

>Christ you complained about the power limiter being too vague and then you try and use 'the benefactor will stop anything she thinks makes things too easy' as a limit.
That's because I thought that it would settle the issue and imply that you couldn't go overboard. I honestly thought that this was what you wanted me to do; my head's a little not there after all this back-and-forth.

And technically, the wish in-setting was used to defeat the Big Bad (well, half of him).

What if I added that the degree of success depends on how much the wish would be satisfactory in the context of the story, with things that make it too easy not working, or taking more time to focus on the wish?

For instance, the wish could be used against your greatest foe, but only after a satisfying battle or being captured, and everything is on the line? Add in that you can only use the wish once per jump (and the limits on the item would mean that you can't wish for something that solves everything for you), and I think that the wish might be able to solve a single problem for you in the jump, but fail to account for other problems that you're facing at the same time.

Or how about this? I could say that the wish is limited to fulfilling things that are reasonably possible within the context of the setting. So something like making the moon shift orbit could still work since it's something that could happen (just unlikely), but something that warps reality or alters history or gives you all sorts of powers would fail because it couldn't be fulfilled without the wish.

The Black Beast shrugged off nukes when it first appeared, the Murakumo Units were late-comers to the Black Beast killing party, and... okay I have no idea where I'm going with this. Wiki says they've got virtually infinite power but I'm sensing it's more of a stamina thing than a raw power thing.

Probably not worth dealing with Relius, regardless, unless you already plan on fucking him up.

So! The Naruto update. Having looked it over, I think it really comes down to 2 big questions:

1. Is being part of the alien bunny goddess clan a bad idea? On the one hand, it does sound like a lot of hassle. On the other hand, once Vegeta and Nappa are dealt with going on a road trip through ninja space might be fun?

2. Anko, Y/N? On the one hand, my sensei is Orochimaru. On the other hand, from what I've been told having actual genetics explained to him might get him to chill a lot quicker. Also from what I can tell I am basically a drunker version of Anko for most of the jump.

...I am unsure whether this makes it a better or worse idea.

Or what if you just had a power limiter. That fixes it. That stops it being this solve everything power you seem to want it to be. That lets it do everything it could in setting without stomping over every other setting.

Just. Add. A. Power. Limiter.

Your "Benefactor stops anything" isn't a limiter. You still explicitly said you could beat even your greatest foes with it, you just couldn't get things that lasted longer, even though the sword example directly contradicted it.

Just add a power limiter that can support things up to that moon moving event. That's it. All you need to do.

Nothing in God of High School comes close to this.

Again, nothing in Multiverse comes close to this. It's not even the strongest dragonball jump.

Is the thing about only being usable as a climax to the story actually canon? Because at this point I'd probably be better off finding some normal wishwater on my own in setting.

But regardless, how "satisfactory in the context of the story" isn't a meaningful statement. The context of what kind of story? A realistic one? A shitty Mary Sue fanfic where the protagonist is utterly invincible? Anything might or might not fit into a story, based on who's writing it and how. Just cap it to the level of feats it's seen producing in canon.

1. I think it's less Ninja Space and more like different dimensions. As far as I remember, Kaguya came from another dimension, as did the duo from the Boruto movie. So you wouldn't be travelling through space so much as you would be visiting different dimensions.

2. For this one, you might want to take an early start and keep Orochimaru from going full on Ninja Mengele in the first place. Because Anko is never going to forgive him after he does all the horrible shit he did before the show started.

Would this acceptably limit the item? I don't want the item to be abused, so I want to set some decent boundaries but the wish embodies the freedom of water, and I feel that being too restrictive would ruin the feel of the jump. Maybe it's just me, but that's the way I feel.
>>
How nasty would a bolt gun with the same properties as the Black Barrel be? These negate your supernatural defenses. Also they explode and fire at full auto.
>>
>>54848011
PPOOHA is like this in that it takes a valid in setting example and uses the no limits fallacy to expand it to being being nigh-omnipotent and the constraints on what you can do with the power are easily worked around by the power itself. The only difference is that you can't actual attain quasi-omnipotence with PPOOHA in the context of the chain because you can't use it to give you more energy at a fast enough rate to finish in the timeframe of a chain.
>>
>>54848058
Cataquack. just put on the power limit. Stop trying to make this something that scales to the setting or goes far and away beyond what it can do in it's original setting.

Just let it do what it does in canon and that's it. It's already really good for that setting at those limits. You already have plenty of freedom when your max power is moving a small celestial body.

Freedom does not need to mean no limits on the max power or that the limit scales so it's always awesome in every setting.

Just add a power limit.

If you enjoyed the gunkata in Equilibrium, but weren't a fan of the plotting, check out Ultraviolet. It's done by the same guy, and he perfects his gunkata shtick in that movie.

It's super thin on plot, but the visuals are fantastic, there are some gadgets in there that'll get you thinking, and Milla Jovovich knows how to do action.

>Is the thing about only being usable as a climax to the story actually canon? Because at this point I'd probably be better off finding some normal wishwater on my own in setting.
That's how the wish was used in the canon, and it would fit rather well with the setting's theme of stories and creativity.

I see what you mean with the Mary Sue example, though; if I did the whole thing about it needing to be something feasibly possible in that setting, and said that by "story" I mean a literary masterpiece-level story and not some cheap power-grab, would that work?

How does applying a canon restriction to something ruin the feel of the jump? Surely there's no one in Haroun and the Sea Stories who ever got the idea to wish for the power to do anything except make tea, or else the setting would be full of omnipotent gods. The fact that wish water is limited is a part of the setting, based on the fact that no one has ever taken advantage of it being limitless

Oh. Are they...scenic dimensions? I thought they came from space since from what I was told the NEET of the clan is living all alone on the moon.

Early start-would that be the The Third Shinobi War drawback? Definitely wanna do that. I'm in no fit state to explain psychology, but I'm probably lucid enough to get genetics across before some unnecessarily dead ninjas come to light.

And I'm trying to give a power limit with the idea of it being something that could feasibly/reasonably happen/be accomplished by you without the wish in the setting. But I'm not getting much feedback on whether or not that would work.

Just get rid of the item. You're demonstrating that you have no ability to be objective about it, you're blatantly ignoring feedback on here about it, so just remove it. Plenty of other jumps don't have the super macguffin available for CP. You don't need to cite the exception and try to use that to force this in. It's not going to be accepted.

Drop the item and your jump will be looked at with greater seriousness.
>>
>>54848089
Yes, that's why the wish water item is a much MUCH worse example of the same mistake.

Literary masterpieces focus on clever word choice and metaphor, not on how well it handles shounen bullshit power scaling. There's no reasonable way to define "a story" that won't be completely unclear and require you to step in to adjudicate every single wish people want to make.
>>
>>54848096
>literary masterpiece

Not when there's a few literary masterpieces out there that depict acts od divine intervention. Still just gonna strongly recommend the suggested power limit as the simplest solution.

Realize that the more you try to limit it, the more likely the SBers are to bitch at you for giving in. You've already frustrated this community, you might as well just keep it over there and not piss off another. Because they'll be really mad that you took away their unlimited-power granter.
>>
>>54848096
Wasn't your defence against the power limiter how vague that would be? Look at how vague all these conditions you are adding on are. How subjective each one is to both the story and the setting it's in.

Adding a power limit is so much more simple.

But that locks you out from doing the things it does in canon, unless you're saying that the guy who wished to move the moon was strong enough to have moved the moon on his own. Don't make it scale to what you can do, lock it down to the level of power it was shown using in canon.

It would not work, because that's a constantly changing, vague and unclear limitation. A power limit is not. It's not changing every single jump, it's not potentially horribly broken depending on the setting. It just lets you do what this wish can do in canon.
>>
>>54848112

One more try, please? After all this pressuring, I've given a power limit that matches the canon.

Bottled Wishwater (600 SP)- A bottle of pure Wishwater, said to be able to grant any wish. Well, if it’s for the sake of the story, that is. The overall power limit of the wish is to drastically alter the orbit of a moon that was being kept in a different orbit through magical/scientific powers beyond normal comprehension, but overall you are restricted by the context of the story and narrative. As it is drawn directly from the Sea Of Stories, Wishwater can only be used at an appropriate point in the narrative of your journey; and it can only be used to solve a narrative problem, by the least effort possible. This also means that the Wishwater’s wish acts to fulfill the story, so you will have increasing difficulty if you try to use the wish for “cheating” purposes rather than something that satisfies the conventions of the story you are in; for instance, wishes in a setting where the story (assuming you weren’t there) is about building up strength on your own would be more likely to work if it guided you to things that could help you become stronger than wishes that would immediately empower you.

Please let me know whether or not this works.

Orochimaru already understands genetics, he's great at it. Where'd you get the idea he doesn't?
>>
>>54847028
I always thought of it as an early jump. It doesn't need too much fancy powers. All it needs to be is a small slice of peace for early jumpers to pick up a small harem of Seiren women. Because in the end, isn't that why we all started jumping? Women, women, powers, and more women.

The only one we've seen (aside from the ones shown in the fight with Kaguya) was pretty much dead. According to the anime, the God Tree landed on Earth in a meteorite a long time ago, and has been draining the natural chakra out of the Earth, though many believed it helped the Earth. While this is obviously filler, it does explain why the world with the other Chakra Tree was dead: because it drained all the energy out of that world. So every world with a tree that has had enough time will be dead. That's...pretty much all we know. Now, as for the 'NEET', he's not actually from the same clan as Kaguya and the duo, he's Hamura's descendant. Toneri is basically the last surviving member of the Space Hyuuga, who came to the Moon to protect the Ten Tails' corpse. This...didn't exactly work out, thanks to Madara, which caused a civil war which ended with most of them dying, and the rest devoting their efforts to a plan to obliterate the people of Earth.

There's actually another one that starts you in the Warring States period, five years before Konoha is formed. Take that with Boruto! and you can stay until ten years after the duo shows up.
>>
>>54848126
>Oh. Are they...scenic dimensions? I thought they came from space since from what I was told the NEET of the clan is living all alone on the moon.

Eh, there's a lot less gunplay and a lot more swordplay. And I have to say paradoxically, it looks a lot more rehearsed and dancelike with melee weapons.

I also wish there were more people in the movie who actually knew how to fight, other than apparently just Mila. At one point she straight up cuts a full circle of people with allegedly the same powers down in one blow.

Okay, Equilibrium kinda had this problem too but at least there was 1 pretense of a rival, and 1 pudgy guy who turned out to be a legit fight for Preston.

>>54848264
I was trying to limit it to canon the entire time. It's just that "canon" is a Wonderland that isn't meant to be measured out and understood fully by reality's standards. I wanted to come up with a solution that stuck with canon and reasonably limited it like you wanted it without being too harsh or forceful, which would break from the message of the book.

I am sorry that I was stubborn over this, and while I felt that many people were overly aggressive and forceful while I tried to find a compromise, I was not entirely in the right, either. I hope we can move past these earlier issues.

Bottled Wishwater (600 SP)- A bottle of pure Wishwater, said to be able to grant any wish once per jump. Well, if it’s for the sake of the story, that is. The Water will only go as far as your antagonist. It could grant you the ability to destroy anything, as long as that anything is only the Antagonist, and those abilities only last as long as the Antagonist. Or, if you prefer, it could make the implausible happen. The limits being that somehow, the metal you've been searching for (previously know for only having one source), somehow has a small second source, buried somewhere you can get to it. After a quest inversely proportional to the plausibility of your wish, of course. We cannot have the Plot suffer, now could we?

How's that? I tried to shorten it a bit, and expand the fluidity of it, while limiting it.

>>54848536
>Working around them
You mean abusing exact wording. At least until they find a limit they think is too much, where they promptly ignore it entirely.

Except then when someone from here makes something too broken they'll complain. Like how Brellin is bitching about that magic system in Val's jump and just happens to leave out the info on how it explicitly blocks the abuses he complains about.

>Really? I read somewhere that one of them is the largest moon in the solar system.
Well, Ganymede is larger than our moon. But it's less massive, due to being mostly made of water rather than rock and iron. I guess it depends on how you classify things, I was thinking in terms of force required to move a thing around, which would be dependent on mass.

Riiiiiiiiiiight. That's why they universally abuse the shit out of Ravenloft to become DND monsters of infinite HD with every fucking listed power possible.

Such limits. Wow.
>>
>Yeah, no shit. One of their jumps just went onto the main /tg/ drive (not the new uploads folder mind you, the actual main drive in complete with images) that has a perk that literally lets you rework how the entire magic system in any given jump you go to works. Want to change D&D magic to a video game style instead? You can do that. Want to change HP magic into magical girl stuff? You can. Want to make a low power system more powerful or vice versa? You can do that too. Setting wide. Within a few hours of work, and no need to actually be in any specific location or any specific materials while doing it and no limit on how many times you can do it. And the most ironic part is that the jump itself doesn't even have images, it's just got a black background instead of a white one!
>And yet an item that gives a limited, but still relatively useful, single-step wish once a jump is somehow controversial by comparison.
>though improving the overall power would require comboing with a stronger magic system you already know.

Because it isn't? I didn't answer because I wasn't sure what more he wanted from me.

And in regard to the whole moon vs. planet thing with the example, how's this for the improved example?

If you are surrounded by an army of darkness, it could shift the moon/world’s axis slightly (easier for something smaller like a moon) so it turns from night to day, but not grant you the absolute power to destroy the army yourself or hurl the planet away from the sun.

Rotating the Earth slightly to change your location between day and night doesn't sound like too much compared to the moon's example, so I think it's feasible the way I've set it up in the example.

Don't forget it also notes that those weaker than you might have ways to deal with it. Presumably the default situation is it works as planned, but if there's a special ritual for preserving their own magic it might still work.

Hah, no. They just straight-up ignore them, too, when they run into some they don't particularly fancy. Like Ursine's "power combinations" in Marvel.

>>54848608
I have never seen an anime girl like bread that much.

Also, the best use of Maker of Magic is obviously to leave the setting's magic system exactly the same, except for adding in a restriction that people need to send you a monthly fee to keep using their magic.
>>
>>54848622
Sadly, they get their kicks in trying to force others to conform to it and criticising those that don't.
>>
>>54848637
For the moon example, it required completely resetting the way that the moon is spinning, while there's a magical force in play to keep you from changing its spin. The latter is just moving the planet around momentarily so it's day now. I'd think that the latter is the easier task.
>>
>>54848644
No, it's not. It's shitheads like that that require perk descriptions to be half a page long and written in legalese. They side with intent or letter, whichever gives them more power or suits them. Its shit like that that sucks the joy out of making jumps.
>>
>>54848635

>>54848644
>Technically okay
Anon, they've outright ignored parts of perks they don't like. Especially when it limits their power. They will often ignore author statements clarifying how things work and demand they add it in to the jump or just ignore it even if they do.

They pretend to like finding ways around but in reality, they just like power.
>>
>>54848648
Not them, but it's from The Weakness of Beatrice.

>Maker of Magic- 800
>The Sage began by learning how to Mix physical things. Then she moved onto magical things. Then she moved onto the soul itself. All of her great works paled in comparison to what she mastered and gave to the world when she first appeared to the public though. Manipulation of the Magic System itself. She turned a traditional system of magic into one like what you’d see in an MMO videogame, changing this magic over two whole worlds. Now that knowledge and ability is yours. You have the ability and knowledge to make widespread changes and alterations to magical systems with a few hours of focus and work. You could make a system based on ritual invocations and sacrifices take on the form of an RPG magic system or vice versa. You can combine systems you already have access to with new ones in however ways you like, add restrictions or even remove limitations and add new aspects, though improving the overall power would require comboing with a stronger magic system you already know. The changes you make are applied to the entirety of the subject Magic System but beings with more power than you are not required to use it, instead being able to rely on the old system if they wish. Those weaker than you are forced to follow all the new rules, unless they themselves can prevent it somehow.
>>
>>54848671
People aren't fucking mind readers. If you don't put an explicit restriction on a perk, and the perk isn't based directly on something from the setting, then there's no reason to assume you intended there to be one.
>>
>>54848670
>>54848611
How is that perk not an I win button? It can do anything you want it to up to X, X being cosmic, level. So how is that not an I win button?
>>
>By comparison to the above perk (not even factoring in anything else from the jump) the Wishwater might as well be toilet water for the kind of impact/power it represents in the context of jumpchain as a whole.
This retard Brellin seriously thinks the initial version of wish water is toilet water compared to the magic maker perk. The original version that let you get anything short of omnipotence.

The problem with SBers is that they get so defensive. They keep seeing it as "because one person made something strong anyone can make something strong" without giving any thought to the context or level of strength involved in the initial example. It's why they bitch and whine about Val making strong things being a reason to give out nigh-omnipotent wish granting devices every jump, despite the fact that the strong things Val makes are far below that level.

Moving a planet isn't really cosmic level, and even if it were, the ability to put out X amount of physical force doesn't neccesarily allow you to defeat any given enemy.

Doesn't matter what's canon. Perks can be stronger or weaker than canon, and this one is stronger. Although RavenloftAnon did clarify that he meant only monsters that could fit in Ravenloft, closing the loophole for people who want to follow RAI instead of RAW.

>>54848720
Off the top of my head, Ravenloft has several epic level spellcasters, one epic level outsider from the Shadow Plane, and at least two dragons in Darkon. So it's not that low powered at the very upper tiers.

No, we can assume we jump to settings that are real worlds instead of ones that work off video game mechanics.

Good point. Honestly, I can't say. We never see how deep down the ocean goes.

Though there is this quote from the book, regarding the crane/chain they plan to use to lower the Plug to the ocean's bottom:

"The largest object on the deck of the Dark Ship [the ship's estimated to be a mile long and 1/2 mile wide] was another crane. This one towered above the deck like a tall building. Whatever hung at the end of these chains, down below the Ocean's surface, must indeed be of astonishing size and weight."
>>
>>54848727
Pretty sure just importing her in jumps like Senran Kagura or Highschool of the Dead would fix that, especially the latter given that the only flat chest we've seen is a prepubescent girl. >>54848643
I also can't forget his newest excuse involves using interjump balancing saying that since jumpers can be overpowered in magic, the people that can ignore your rules are few and far in between, so that shitty argument gets thrown out.

From a purely intra jump standpoint, the ability is NOWHERE near as powerful as the original Wishwater Perk.

>>54848755
Don't forget Anon, we are the hypocritical, fickle, autistic ones and are totally full of shit.
>>
>>54848791
They're just so stupid. They take actions that actively undermine their reputations and then expect to be treated with the same respect as trusted, reasonable jumpmakers with long histories here. They look at one thing and then thing anything related to that is okay and make up their own reasons to justify them. They never look at why Val gets her stuff accepted and how she justifies it when things are asked. They just go "Because she's popular" or something insane.

They completely lack any context that doesn't entirely benefit them.
>>
>>54848760
>So let them do it on their own. There's no reason to make it a CP purchase backed by fiat.
This is the whole reason I made it an item to begin with. I felt that it would be unfair to say to jumpers, especially ones who love the book, "No, you can't use any of the Wishwater you can find all over the place - no, I don't care that it's an important part of the series, and that there's no reason you can't take it with you."

So I made the normal Wishwater in-setting something that only affects things in that world, and I could give extra requirements for the jump purchase. Plus, I liked the item, as it had a big role in the story.

>>54848870
My argument was that you can't write jumps from the standpoint that people will intuitively reach the same conclusions about what something's limits are as you did, unless it's based specifically on something in the setting they can reference. Therefore, if you want to limit something non-canon, that limit should be written down somewhere, and if you read a perk that says you can do X, you can do X, not do X to anyone weaker to you or do X once a year or do X only if it doesn't benefit you or a companion, etc.

>>54848875
Same. One thing I plan on doing is adding in this weapon the Star Forge was going to have in the game, before that got cut out. The idea was that this weapon, which I guess was something like a tractor beam or a gravity manipulator or something, would be used to grab an attacking ship and slam it into another one. If I may, Cee-Dubs?

There's a point where you need to divorce yourself away from the IP. You can love a setting all you want, make the jump as beautifully and lovely as you want. Pour your heart into a project.

But after publishing it, you can't let yourself get impacted by how people go in and faff about like toddlers kicking over everybody else's sand castles and shitting on the legos. That way just leads to frustration and you wondering why you're up until 2 in the morning when you really should just be drinking straight firewhiskey and going the fuck to bed because fuck this, fuck that, and fuck the other things.
>>
>>54848857
Probably the single most bullshit aspect of the Star Forge wasn't even its manufacturing speed, which was absolutely ridiculous by itself, but rather the fact that it was pulling mass and energy out of a star and directly converting it through what I can only assume are some pretty impressive fabricators into starships and war materiel on an unimaginable industrial scale.

It's easily the most terrifying superweapon in Star Wars. You've got shit that blows up planets but this thing is basically an infinite resources cheat for whatever force has control of it.

No, that's what I was trying to do, at least by making it an item. The limits (and lack) were ones that I felt were reasonable at the time. My goal at the beginning was to set up a reasonable set of restrictions for the Wishwater and prevent abuse. Unfortunately, things didn't work out that way.

How's it look now?

If you are surrounded by an army of darkness, it could instantly turn from night to day, but not grant you the absolute power to destroy the army yourself. If you crucially needed star-metal to make a villain-slaying sword, exactly enough star-metal would fall into your hands to make the sword, and not a gram more.

That's the limit I put in. It's the canon example of how the Wishwater worked in the book.

>>
>>54849389
>>54849389
>One, I think it's cheap and immoral for me to keep people from using a resource readily available in the setting.
Holy titfucking turbo cancer, do you not get that you don't have to make something purchasable in order for people to use it in setting? Do you assume that motherfuckers starve in jumps where food isn't a CP item? If it can be used in setting, people can use it in jump. Do you honestly not get that? Hell, make a note that explicitly states you can use it in jump but also include a note that says you can't take it / use it out of jump. That would have solved EVERYTHING from the get-go.

>Two, you guys triggered my stubborn instincts, so I wasn't about to give up on something I believe in.
It's a jump, not the civil rights movement. If you can't understand the difference and how that plays out. . . Look, as a creator its give and take. You don't get to just whip your dick out and run with it. This offering has made your jump toxic and is not endearing you to anyone. Cut your losses and figure out that imageboard heroism isn't a real thing

>Third, since people were saying that I needed to limit it to canon, I thought that I had finally done what they wanted me to do.
You've demonstrated again and again you're too wedded to this thing to be rational or objective. Just drop it and move on to the rest of your jump.

You look down on the petty trials and tribulations of the animals of earth and know you are superior. From time to time you are sent to earth to serve heaven, but you find the act distasteful. You age on arrival is immeasurable.

Also, Divel Survivor 2 has Sword of Polaris which makes you as old as the planet or something. Maybe older.
>>
>>54849453
The genie would indeed have fixed it, since that's what it ended up being. The sad thing is someone on SB actually suggested it to you, to keep that power limit in, before you posted it here.

Okay, this is my last post for the night. I first of all wish to humbly apologize for my stubborn behavior tonight. I do not entirely agree with all of the responses I've gotten, but I understand your viewpoints. I get stubborn at times and tend to get stuck on certain points if I feel that I'm right on a specific part of it.

I wish to emphasize that, while I was greatly confused, I thought that I was reasonably limiting the jump at first, and as the people on SB have been helpful at times - for the record, Record actually convinced me in a PM once to cut down on some perks he thought were too OP - I thought that I should consider their view.

I got upset at the privacy thing because I try to keep my activities on the two sites separate to some degree. I sometimes refer to things over here for advice over there, but I try to avoid calling out people from here. Sometimes in the heat I say ill things about /tg over there, and I regret them, but it makes me feel hurt when people seem to track down and quote my things from there. Mostly, I just want to get along with everyone.

Anyway, I'm tired and regretful about things said, so I'm going to give two options. First is I use the last version of the Wishwater item. The second is that I remove the Wishwater and make zero mention of it in the jump whatsoever; at this point, all of this bile makes me want to have nothing to do with it.

I'll be back in the morning to gauge what people think, and I'll decide from there. I wish the best for everyone.
>>
>>54849597
Because the power wasn't goddamned active until you triggered your bullshit by turning the exact age you rolled, whereas prior you were just a sodding average member of your race?

Here's a hint.

Sword of Polaris, in DS2, makes you upwards of 2,000,000,000 years.
>>
>>54849597
That particular altform would be that old. Unless you brought in altform mixers, it wouldn't matter. If you do, who cares. People love using age manipulation to cheese that shit.
>>
>>54849597
Because most of those perks are unaffected by the age of your origin and care more about how long you have had the perks?
>>
>>54849597
You're dragon alt-form wouldn't have experienced those years, probably. If that matters any.

>>54849618

I think it's important to note that CW mentioned earlier how he posted the first version on SB in May 2016 - more than a year ago. He kept the jump in deadlock for over a year because he was worried what people would think of the Wishwater. Then he gets enough confidence to come up with what he thinks is a solution and presents it, only he gets shot down. No wonder he was so frustrated.

Doesn't justify what he said, but it helps explain why he kept fighting over that crap for so long.
