I'm living the /tg/ dream for now, with a SO who enjoys board games as much as I do. We've been playing HIVE in our downtime recently, and enjoying it, so what are some other self-contained (e.g. Not CCGs or LCGs) games that play well with two people?
>(e.g. Not CCGs or LCGs)
You mother fuckers should get Arkham Horror the Card Game, STAT! Its one of the best experiences I've had with my SO.
Beyond that some of our favorate light games are
Star Realms, Odins Ravens 2ed Edition, Patchwork, Arboretum.
Bigger games we love Star Wars Rebellion, War of the Ring, Memoir 44 and Letters from Whitechapel.
Ah, another hive-player, at last.
Love letter is a cheap 2 player card game about competing to get a love letter to a princess.
Forbidden Island and forbidden desert are co-op games that can work with 2 players.
There's a shitload of chess variants, and games that only require chess/checkers stuff.
Netrunner.

>Sex.
In my experience, that tends to be played as solitaire.

Most of the Gigamic games (Quarto, Quixo, Quoridor, etc.): Quick abstract strategy games.
A Few Acres of Snow: unique mix of combative colonization/deckbuilder.
Dominion can work as a two-player, but some expansions might play better than others.
