Commanders are too cheap, they're stupidly good for their cost, and make crisis suits a dumb choice. Broadsides are too expensive to be competitive. The Riptide is just shit all around.

the easiest way to balance tau right now is commanders become 100 points base and crisis suits become BS3+ while their cost remains the same. It does one thing, makes crisis suits more efficient for dakka but leaves equivalent points of commanders with more wounds.

I argued for a BS boost to suits before 8th and got shouted down for it, but I think it'll be more tolerable now that BS boosts from markerlights are harder to get a hold of, and ignoring cover isn't anywhere near as much of a thing. I don't know how well just changing the cost of Commanders will stop the spam without making it a pain to use them normally; I personally think a suit shouldn't be able to stack more than two of the same weapon to at least prevent quadfusions.

Tau don't need access to BS2 outside HQs, they just need easy access to BS3... And needing more than 10 markers on a single target to reliably get it isn't easy access.

Hence why having fire warriors BS4+, Commanders and Fireblades BS2+ And everyone else BS3+, but reducing markers to a mere gimmick buff with no bs boosting is the best option.

With the new markerlight system the value is now questionable since you need 5 of them (on average 80-100 points) of markerlights to reach the one useful buff since the others are either ignored or have cheap wargear to simulate it so tau having bs4+ suits is a questionable move since it really hurts the viability, any nerf to commanders without making crisis suits a proper replacement will result in crisis suits phased out in favour of either stealthsuits spam lists, y'vahra spam lists (3d6 S6 Ap-3 with ATS D3) flamer is rape, tau'nar with repair Drone aids or flyer spam with stealthsuits in a corner to simply be a table presence.

I've come up with my own Forgeworld, Casthun. Background is it's a rocky industrial hellhole with five moons, on each of which lives an equally insane Magos in permanent competition with his four rivals.

Unlike most forgeworlds, some of its Skitarii have powerful capacitor orbs on their breastplates, which are most distracting...

My colour scheme is pale blue trousers, brown or grey coats, dark silver metal bits and grey and gold vehicles.

So any MODEL can be your Warlord, only characters get traits though.

What are some ideas for an out of place model to be a Warlord for some of the armies?

Played a 1000 point game with my Guard today, I usually brought 200 ish models in 7th at 2000. Brought around 90 to this one. They're all fully painted, but apparently I'm TFG now?

I lost all the time with horde guard and now I am apparently an asshole if I bring my dudesmen.
