Boils down to

>molds are expensive
>get kickstarter money to make molds
>supporters get cheap minis in return
>win-win situation

It's just a good business decision. Yeah it seems like they're cheating, but it's just good sense, and everybody comes out better for it.

It seems greedy but it's really not
>Kickstarter funding helps pay for new molds
>in return you get tons of minis from the new molds for cheap (if you just get the core set it works out to roughly 1 dollar per mini while the addon minis are cheaper than they will be once they are sold separately)
>you also get the new models a year or more before they are available for retail and you can resell certain KS models for a profit on Amazon or eBay
>Reaper can then use their new molds to make minis they will charge full price for after fulfilling their KS obligations

Spending way too much on the Stars Without Number Kickstarter. But I want that stupidly huge Omnibus for no other reason than it is stupidly huge and I like dumb impractical things like that.

At the very least the beta for the new edition looks pretty neat. Although he posted the link in a backers only update, he also said I could freely share it, so why not?
