>Your PCs are the employees and regulars who work at or frequent an old all-night Diner.

>The food is good and greasy, the coffee is piping hot and there's plenty of good company.

>While all diners tend to attract some weirdos at night, this Diner's are stranger than most.

Tell us about this Diner, /tg/.

>One of the employees at the diner may be a ghost, given the fact that her uniform is noticably outdated, she seems to come and go unseen and that she is suspiciously flustered by modern-day slang.

>The jukebox off to one side of the diner has a bewildering variety of records inside it ready to play: rock, jazz, blues, city street noise, birdsong, whole Shakespearean plays, whispered secrets, etc.
>>
>Special sauce has nails in it too often
> Kitchen include cirurgical tools

Every Thursday night three businessmen from the same firm come in, they each look a hundred years old and dress like it as well. They order outlandish items that aren't on the diner menu. If the staff impresses them they will receive an odd item as a tip that can be used later on to fight a serious threat

>Everyone finds the diner in a different place, whether you're a customer or an employee. To some, the diner sits on different streets of the same city, but for others the cities and even states are different.

>There are sometimes secret messages printed on the paper placemats between the coupons and advertisements for local business like the neighborhood cryptid groomer and discount fortune teller.

>Every night at 1:41 am, a young and adorably affectionate newlywed couple stops in at the diner, acting as if it were the first time they'd done so, possessing no memory of any of their previous visits.
>>
>> Set, Loki, Dionysus, Sunwukong like to meet here regularly and play poker. One day one of them can't join because they have some business back home. They ask you to join

I love the idea of playing an rpg like this and even tried a similar approach in an office setting with my little brother. It was very cool conceptually but it was difficult for me to write good enough plot hooks for him to get attached to. To be fair I've never really been good with writing mystery or something of the like... has anyone else here given this sort of game a shot and if so how did it turn out?

As Jack and Martin open the door, they see their friends behind the bar, they smile, wave and sit down. The place is busier than usual and Kate and Jon are working kind of hard. A guy walks out of the bathroom, Martin notices him and looks directly into his souldless eye. The extrange man walks by and set the record on. The sound of the record machine makes everyone silence and the piano music starts playing. Everyone stares at each other and the man sits in one table, everything goes back to normal and Jack decides to go to the bathroom. He goes inside, opens one of doors for the toilets to find a deep hole in the ground and some marks in the floor. The sound of whispers can be heard and he runs back. Martin and Jon are talking to each other and Kate is making coffee but the mysterious man is no longer there.

>Someone care to continue?

>A police man and police woman stop in every night for a piece of pie and a cup of coffee. They are both named Kelly Smith, which they claim is one hell of a coincidence, and both tell the oddest stories.

>On the back wall of the diner behind the counter are a slew of pictures of the various patrons the place has hosted over the years, in which one can pick out anomalous creatures and historical figures.

>A young bedraggled woman comes into the diner to panhandle, asking for some different trifling thing each night like old receipts, hard candies, rubber bands, childhood phobias and sometimes money.
>>
>every once in a while, a gaunt figure wearing black clothes comes in, always ordering something different. He tends to ask strange questions, and always knows everyone's names. Everyone can agree that he's tall and skinny, but apart from that no-one seems to recall him quite the same way.

>Some of the menus aren't written in any human language.
>Some of the menus occaisionaly have an extra, 13th, page that shows "Daily Specials" that the staff don't remember cooking...

>They gay that sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name, but that sometimes happens at the diner and it's not always as friendly and welcoming as you'd think it might be.

>Long-haul truckers have taken to leaving coded messages to each other in graffiti scratched into the booths and bathroom stalls, something that every trucker recognizes but will never acknowledge.

So this is like Night Shift but it's a citu corner diner instead of a highway gas station, right?
>>
>>54744244
>One of the regulars is known only as "Old Frank." Frank looks like your average, run of the mill old coot. He claims to have known a lot of important historical figures personally, JFK, Hitler, Archduke Franz Ferdinand and goes into some pretty serious detail about their personalities and lives. One night when you're bored at home you look some of these things up, and from what you can verify, he's spot on accurate. You dismiss this, so what, right? He knows his history, but you wonder... and also notice that the people he mentions were either murdered or died in suspicious circumstances...
>>
>>54744244
>There's a slightly faded sign on the door that clearly says "no killing"
>The regular clientele are mostly sweet elderly couples and you wonder why that sign was necessary.
