Song of Swords is a a tabletop RPG centered around realistic medieval fightan' with a ludicrous variety of weapons and fighting styles, centered around a dice pool system. It's currently in beta, and can be used for both fantasy and historical games. The Kickstarter was nearly 300% funded, and we're on the fast track to kicking ass baby.

Call of the Void: Ballad of the Laser Whales is a pulpy sci-fi tabletop RPG about fighting space-nazis and hunting giant whales with harpoons made out of the moon. Its combat system is more modern, based in the early 20th century, but can probably handle combat up to the present day.

MEGA folder containing current version of the game and all supplementary materials.
Note that the latest version of the game is v1.3. The next update will probably be called v1.4.

As to what you asked: I don't really know what maneuvers you'd do in Ranged combat. Not like there are millions of techniques like there are in melee combat. You aim, pull, release, hit/miss. Or you aim, pull the trigger, hit/miss.
Then again, I don't know much about ranged combat. Maybe there is much much more to it.

Yes, you can be decently accurate. But doing so requires a relatively flat shot, which means some power is going to be lost. That's why armor penetration, if possible at all, can only happen at extremely short ranges. You can conceivably shoot out much further, but you aren't going to be able to shoot accurately.

Long bow requires self-bow. Also, an Epic Bow would require you to have Brawn 10. According to the priority tiers, that's a pretty substantial investment and requires a tier 5 attribute pick (their highest). R7 is also more than a full suit of basic plate.

Not related to SoS directly, but since people here know a lot about weapons: what weapons would be best for causing massive, total damage to an organic body? Like, if you just had to obliterate something as badly as possible.

I'm thinking about this campaign idea for a medieval Dead Space -style monster scenario, where the monsters don't have any real life functions that could be stopped, and may also be massive, necessitating evisceration and obliteration to such a degree that they physically lose cohesion and just can't function any more.

In a scenario like that, what weapons would actually be feasible for taking down huge fleshy abominations that don't care about regular trauma?

Would a bladed mace be any good, though? Seems to me like a weapon with blades projecting in all directions would be clumsy at best.

That being said, how good is gross blunt force at destroying a body? Can you put enough bludgeoning in a wieldy enough package that you could, theoretically, demolish a monster like that?

I know blunt weapons can absolutely ruin a man, shatter bone and ruin soft tissues as well. But I'm wondering how well something like that would do in a scenario like this, compared to something that can cleave into bodies.

Chiron's Hitler is Hermann Sternfleischer. Sternfleishcer Industries is basically Focke-Wulfe and Messerschmidt combined. I'm betting he didn't legislate himself out his own company, so it's probably more of a merger of state and corporate power than the nationalization of heavy industry.

Then again, if you took over the government, giving the government sole control over all industry would be the same as usurping it personally, so maybe he did. It's also hard to tell what the power relationship between Sternfleischer and Richtofen is from the text given. I'm not sure what ideological basis the Chironite regime has actually, economics were not really mentioned at length in any of Jimmy's loredumps.

It fluctuates. The current Chironic ruling body's ideology isn't explicitly economic in nature, it's just hyper-nationalist. Depending on the properties of the "flesh" of these things, it is hard to say if blunt or chopping attacks are better. The short answer is that you'd need a lot of dudes to attack them fast and hard enough to negate their threat with any reliability- one guy with a polehammer is in for a bad time if he makes a mistake, and just cutting off limbs and chunks with an axe feels like a losing method if you're only causing yourself to become outnumbered.
