Help a brother out.

I'm trying to make a decent Eldar list, and it's difficult trying to figure out what's best in the current index. So far I've got:

>basic-ass warlock
>2 wave serpents with missile launchers, each carrying 5 Fire Dragons and six howling banshees
>2 basic units of dark Reapers

Which comes out to exactly 1200 points. I'm totally open to using harlequins, though I don't love the aesthetic of DEldar even if the rules are nice. Would filling the last 800 with a troupe n' vehicle, solitaire, then shining spears/wind riders/star weavers be worthwhile?

I was thinking of doing a unit of Sternguard Vets with 2 heavy flamers and giving the rest Bolter/Flamer combi weapons and put it in a drop pod. Not sure how useful it would be but it seems like fun in theory.

Also I have a bunch of combi weapon pistols do they count as combi weapons w/o the pistol property or are they just not used at all anymore?

FW doesn't sell them anymore, and they're pretty ugly anyways.

It's around 12-15 inches in length.

The only good proxy I've found is a Pelican dropship made by Spartan Games that's about the same size, but they're months behind on their back orders.

So, the Night Lord tactic is that running multiple units near enemy units lowers their Leadership by 1, to a max of -3.

Battleshock sucks, but I can see a comedic use for this with Treason of Tzeentch. -3 Ld makes it way more likely that you can hijack your opponent's characters.

What is the funniest thing you could see this being used for? I imagine the best thing would be hijacking Pask or a Russ Commander, or having Bobby G slice up his own Ultramarines.

Played a bigass 3k game against 1500 points of craftworld/quins and Raven guard wiped the floor with the fuckers. Shooty protectrons deleted a pair of commanders while radtroopers btfo'd a bunch of troupe members (4++ don't mean shit against 50 wounds, beyotch).

Then the firstborg 9000s did what they do to a ghostkeel, charged from the smoldering wreck into some Jetbikes, and enjoyed swatting the fuckers out of the sky. Plasmaphrons sitting next to cawl made short work of some Tau suits while 5 breachers arc guns clicked a shorthand 'delet this' on a wave serpent. Then the gravaphrons decided to go full war criminal and killed a wraithlord in one go.

Priests didn't even make it to melee sadly, but konor got some more points. I think 3k v 2 1.5k is unfair, honestly.

I'm biased, I play WB despite whatever terrible rules they throw out in part because of the colour scheme. Honestly Chaos in general is in an alright place right now, feels quite open to playing whatever sort of tactic you want, and for the WB that's fluffy as anything. You have a Dark Apostle who believes bikes are the best way to represent the Chaos Gods, go for it.

Play/paint whatever you'll enjoy playing or painting, you're going to be doing a lot of it either way.

Alright Archons, I could use some advice rounding out this 1000 point list.

>Medusae x 2
>Raider with Dark Lance
>Trueborn x 5 with 2 Blasters and 2 Splinter Cannons
>Venom with 2 Splinter Cannons
>Reavers x 6 with 2 Blasters and 2 Grav Talons
>Scourges x 5 with Shardcarbines

Now I'm pretty much set on all of the above, which puts me at 832 points. I just need to work out what to spend the rest on.

The main contenders are 5 more Scourges with Dark Lances this time, or a Ravager with Dark Lances instead. Both have pros and cons but either way I'll have some good anti tank going on.

I could also get some more Trueborn with 2 Dark Lances to fill up the Raider with the Archon in it, which would give me a few more points I'd probably spend on another couple of Reavers (because I have the models and think they're cool, and they're also the only real melee I have aside from the Sslyth) as well as Agonisers and Blast Pistols on squad leaders as appropriate to fill out the last few points.

Blasters and Lance's are really good. Generally you want them whenever you have a chance to get one. Kabalites in Raiders and the cannons on Venoms already Grant you significant anti-infantry firepower naturally.

I'm always amused when First Founding chapters smashed by the enemy. You fill a hundred Iron Warriors? Nobody gives a shit, they'll replace them in a week. Dark Angels though? That's one tenth of all your dudes. Things like this happen, but at the same time the First Founding chapters never seem to have any shortage of marines in their own books.

Raven guard are pretty much always understaffed, BA reached a point where they considered forcing successor chapters to give them men, and all IF got wiped out in The Beast novels
