For whoever cares, there's this guy Mad Alfred who wrote a bunch of scenarios and campaigns for WFRP 1e and made some pretty good maps. I decided to compile everything here since downloading everything from his website was a pain in the ass and some of his charts got all fucked up looking when I downloaded them so I cleaned everything up as well as I could and saved them as pdfs.

I'm working on converting a few of his scenarios that weren't already finished pdfs into 2e but that was more than I felt like doing today so I'll have those uploaded later.

Not in my headcanon. This seems to be so sporadic, I think it only slipped in because other settings have them and the author didn't care to check or ask anyone, but nobody important at GW ever gave them any attention.

You already had this discussion in the former thread, so I'll make it quick: Different universe, different setting, this is more than twenty years old rogue trader lore than is not compatible with current 40k lore on several levels, not only human-eldar interbreeding, and it's stupid to bring this into this thread.

Ever since the Warhammer general and the Warhammer RPG general were combined, these threads have been nothing but discussions of old, obscure fluff that has no place in modern Warhammer, but it's deemed ok because "Priestley says there's no canon", despite all the evidence to the contrary. Also serious discussions of Black Library material.

There is some sense, but then I also want to hear about all these half-dwarves, half-ogres and half-halflings. My point is that half-elves are common in other settings, so someone wrote them in, not becuase they are actually a confirmed thing. Maybe they exist, but they are so unimportant that I can happily pretend they don't.

>Eldar =/= Elves
Tell that that other guy that brought them up.

'Modern Warhammer' is shit and dead, in that order.

With the death of the setting we have been freed from the millstone-round-the-neck of retcons and dumbing-down. Now we can just discuss reconciling the existing material into something interesting and consistent.
>>
>>54657647
>dwarfs are autistic enough to not breed with their own women
And elves are too prideful to ever touch a human, but according to this single incident it somehow happened. Dwarves and humans share a much closer relationship, by mere chance there is something bound to happen. If only some rich dwarf buying himself lots of human prostitutes because he couldn't get that one-out-of-ten dwarf wife.

>And elves are too prideful to ever touch a human
In Gileads Blood, the hero notes just how seperated from his own kind Finubar had become when he realises he had a half-human son.

> Dwarves and humans share a much closer relationship, by mere chance there is something bound to happen

And likely has. Vargh Brueghl comes to mind - although he was a mutant, he was also a midget. Because of his stature he was shunned bh both humans and dwarfs and could find no home in either community. I wouldn't be surprised if half-dwarfs were in the same boat.

Additionally, from what lore we can find half-breeds seem to mostly take the characteristics of one parent, with a few slight tweaks - to the point where elves couldn't tell they were talkjping to a half-elf.

There might be half-breeds all over the place, but the setting never really makes a big deal of them.

>>
>>54658771
Because they base their society around it, with a 'only the strong survive' mentality. It seems fucked up and even wasteful, but it's probably the only way to control all the dark elf lords, to convince them to use sabotage, backstabbery, and even just earning favor from Malekith above that of their rivals, instead of outright civil war like if backstabbing wasn't allowed. And they'll all want to backstab, just because they can't stand having superiors.

Everything that exists in Naggaroth is due to Malekith's will, and he won't even allow new noble titles or encourage settlements in the wilderness - he wants a copy of Nagarythe that's full of warriors he can make use of at any time, and doesn't need stability beyond that. As long as the nobles don't massacre everyone, he don't care.

That's kinda how it works in real life too, its why many historians/SCA guys who study medieval culture can't trust historical illustrations of famous battles to gauge what kind of equipment might have been used. Medieval illustrators tended to just assume they used the same equipment as they did when they were drafting the painting and go off that.

Pretty sure that was your point though.

I could see skaven avoiding elf ruins just out of cowardice that an elf might still be around.

Of the wargame or RPG?

RPG, I'd say 2nd. Wargame, that's more a preference thing - which rules thought you did best, whether you think 8th is okay or horrible, that sort of thing. A lot of people seem to prefer 6th, but there are plenty of choices, even non-official ones like T9A.
>>
>>54667360
Which was the last edition of the wargame that every army got a book?

Also, a question I have in general. It seems from shit I've read here and there that you can construct sort of off beat, non-major armies with additional rules found here and there in magazines or something? I really don't know what I'm talking about, tell me if I'm off base. I'm just wondering if there are more obscure armies with rules that aren't the main published books.

>>
>>54668770
>>So they sail their fleet hundreds of miles downriver to get to the sea?
Dwarfs work on things for decades, if not hundreds of years. Sailing a few hundred miles isn't a big deal.

>>And from the description of Pigbarter, I doubt they have the entire Chaos Dwarf navy passing through the middle of their trading town on a regular basis.

They likely trade and barter with them. If not, think they could stop them?
>>
>>54668794
The Ivory Road Journal implies that Pigbarter doesn't have a close relationship with the Chaos Dwarves though.

Now, I am being deliberately obtuse for the sake of argument. It just strikes me as odd for a race to have a navy when it would take several weeks of travel to get their navy to the sea.

Interesting idea from a few threads back:

>Aenarion doesn't get wounded with the great daemon 4 way smackdown (which may or may not have been because Khaine willed it)
>Aenarion sends the daemon hordes running when their big four are effortlessly killed and Aenarion lives
>Khaine is so impressed that he finally takes pity on the elves and directly empowers Aenarion
>super saiyan elf is now hyper saiyan with the blessing of asuryan and the sword AND power of khaine
>goes north alone killing every daemon and norscan who dares get in his way
>through fuckery gets into the true realm of chaos
>again everything runs from him and even a few of the chaos gods are biting their nails
>he goes right to the brass citadel, probably killing a few bloodletters and thirsters on the way like brushing gnats off your shoulder
>he yells out a duel challenge for khorne
>mfw it echoes throughout the warp and rattles the great walls of the citadel, even daemons are shaken to the bone

>and khorne came

Could Aenarion with Khaine's direct help, if for whatever reason Khaine dropped his ambivalent fuck-you attitude to both sides, and Widowmaker (now also empowered directly by Khaine) and given Asuryan's strength defeat the most powerful Chaos god?

>which may or may not have been because Khaine willed it

I like how you still cling to that headcanon despite how many times you are told it's wrong. You are such a faggot.

Again, you moron. Aenarion was losing the war. The planet was being dissolved by the Realm of Chaos. The daemons could not be defeated by simply fighting them. Chaos gets stronger the harder you fight it. He can swing the soul all day but in the end the daemons will overrun the world and drag him down.

Also if the Chaos Gods were tired of Aenarion's shit, they would have forced Be'lakor to go after him and curnstomp the shit of that weakling elf. Be'lakor at the time was absolutely powerful the apex power of the Chaos Gods power. It's said that no creature anywhere in the world, not the Slaans in their jungles or the Elves in their cities, could challenge the Firstborn of Chaos. This includes Aenarion. It's was mercy to all that Be'lakor choose to disobey the Chaos Gods and dick around in the north. It was his shenanigans that saved the world by causing the prince wars and redirecting a large portion of the daemon armies from the Elves to the north.

Wrong.

Get your headcanon out of you're ass and try to follow along with how things ARE instead of what you want them to be, faggot.

Bel'akor is the strongest Daemon and as Age of Sigmar says stronger than the Chaos Gods. They are weaklings to him by the time of the Stormcasts arriving and he can and will beat them. Bel'akor was always destined to win and no level of headcanon will stop that.

You need to stop posting and let us lore masters do the rest, okay faggot? You've been proven objectively wrong too many times.

Bel'akor as the destiny of WFRP 1e says will destroy all things and take control of Chaos. Every god, from Khorne to to Sigmar, was created by Bel'akor. This is how it always has been.

>there is something you should know, priest. A gift for the journey you are about to take.’ The daemon leant in closer. ‘Your. God. Is. A. Lie.’ With that, the daemon prince crushed the grand inquisitori’s skull between its claws with effortless ease.

Belakor says Khorne isn't real and he doesn't lie. Yet still these poser shittirs try to say that Chaos gods exist.

Need to read up on the lore. It's up to us masters to teach them.

>"But the Skull Throne-" The cultist's words were cut short, as were his skull's tendons.
>"Is my own," spoke Bel'akor, "as is all of the Warp. Chaos is not real, and all you know of it is a lie."

It's poetic in a way since Be'lakor is warhammer's Lucifer. Anyways more proof that Solkan is a lie can be found in the text. Be'lakor infiltrated, corrupted, and possessed members of this Solkante inquisition. If the Avenger truly existed he would have warned his followers of Be'lakor's machinations and pointed out the corrupted members. Alas, the Avenger did not and Be'lakor killed those he didn't corrupt and used the Inquisition to make his End Times Prophecy a reality.

>You think you are the first?

>Blood of my infernal blood? Flesh of my damned flesh? You think you are the first fool to challenge me? I was slaughtering turncoats and traitors at the dawn of time, you miserable cur.

>am Be’lakor. First of the daemon princes. A monster given form before histories were written and the degenerate races of this world came to know their capabilities. I was a warlord like no other. Primitive. Powerful. Pure of dark purpose. Before your rat-warren cities and delusions of civilisation. Before your mongrel God-King and the fall of his hammer, the tribes of men looked to the greatest of their mortal kind to lead them. To unite the barbarian and the savage. To conquer. To kill. To create.

>The degenerate legions of man were spoiling fruit in my claw. They erected great monuments to my majesty– primitive stone structures of insanity and slavish ambition. With numbers beyond counting, the base and bloodthirsty rallied to my banners of flayed skin. They butchered their own in my honour– the weak of mind, of faith and flesh– and brought death and destruction to the lesser races.

>Those that hid in the great forests of the world, those that took to the depths and those who thought themselves safe in far lands beyond broad oceans. The world was mine– as it will be again. Under my leadership– nay, my sponsorship– champions rose from the raging deluge of barbaric butchery that was my horde. Swine like you, Archaon of the North. Living weapons I honed to a razor’s edge. Minds to which I had introduced pride, belief and ambition. Men of traitorous heart, in whose veins treachery ran free.

>Some say this was my own doing. My mistake alone. That I had underestimated how deep the rot ran in men’s souls. That with my dark example, I had inspired a generation of chieftains and champions. Dread warriors of growing skill, supremacy and influence, who came to be known to the gods.

>Those that know better lay blame at the feet of the Changer of Ways. The foetid god, Tzeentch, all supreme in his understanding of the world, its people and princes. Patron of the ascended. Plague of the prideful.

>The horror of mortal hope and fear. It was from him that such aspirant warlords and warriors learned of their power. From him they learned the arts of conspiracy and how to catch the eye of a god. Tzeentch, the betrayer. Tzeentch, the great wheel of the world that turns. Tzeentch, the bane of all existence– but one of many. Tzeentch, the doom of Be’lakor.

>He saw the Dark Pantheon’s faith diluted. Their trust spread between my dark champions and chieftains of their individual choosing. Soon I was a prince among many. The first among equals. I hunted down and slaughtered those that had betrayed me or intended to do so. Their appetite for power rivalled my own. So many hungered for a dominion of their own. So many followed such fools into oblivion. I was abandoned by my hordes. Robbed of my gifts. Drained of the power fed by our dread faith.

>I see the same in you, Archaon of the North, as I see the Great Changer’s hand in this. His poison drips from your ear. His lies guide your hand and the blade within it. Archaon– blood of my infernal blood, flesh of my damned flesh, living legend of my dark craft– you will not be the Great Changer’s puppet. You will not be the double edged sword that wounds he who wields it. You will be Archaon, Everchosen of Chaos– blood of Be’lakor’s blood and flesh of Be’lakor’s flesh– or you will be destroyed. Destroyed. A thousand times, destroyed.

Be’lakor clasped the arms of his skull throne and rose, to the thrilled murmur of his infernal supplicants.

>‘Your greatest wish is granted, Gotrek Gurnisson. Your name will ring down the aeons, but as he who opened the doorway to divinity for the fifth Great Power. You are witness to the commencement of a new era, when four powers unchanged since the birthing cries of creation must bow and admit the Master of Darkness to their pantheon.’

>Be’lakor laughed coldly, stepping from the throne and spreading his arms as if eulogising to the daemon hordes that were still piling into the rear of the chamber. ‘I am the Dark Master. Prodigal. Pariah. Everchosen. Only I can unite the forgotten servants of the Four and at long last put an end to Grimnir’s eternal war.’

>Be’lakor gestured back to the stone dolmen. ‘Here is where the banished fall, this purgatory, here to rage in mindlessness and hunger for millennia or else to relent and perish on Grimnir’s axe. Only I can free them. Only I can lead their legions to ash and hellfire upon your world.’

The greatest crime of AoS is that it didn't let Be'lakor inherit his rightful place as the Fifth Chaos God. They made the Horned God of the fifth god of the main pantheon. That furry bastard is the lowly get of Nurgle and Tzeentch. Be'lakor is the Firstborn of all the gods.

Table top question to get away from what seems to be a shit post fight or severe autism.

I make alot of my own scenery and terrain. How big should a river be per the rules? Table edge to edge? Wouldn't make sense really to just plop a 30" river but I'm not sure if the game requires a specific size. Also:
>some thrift shop is going out of business near me
>tons of mini houses and castles less the a dollar
>alot of them arent big enough for a 5x6 unit
Would you guys consider this a problem? I have a rules lawyer friend trying to get into whfb (we both are, but I spent the better part of my interest painting and now just want to play) and if he acts like he does in mtg, I can see shit like "we'll you'd have to have units outside, and that means they get no bonus".

I myself have been using a 50mm square base as I've been using it inside a unit of Warriors and I thought that was the proper base size.

>Count of Stirland sends a messenger begging for help. He says they are attacked by "living dead". Must be more of Leitdorf's foolery. Probably made his troops wear carnival constumes, the fool.
>Anyway, I order Wurtbad to fly Imperial banners. Even Leitdorf wouldn't dare directly attack the Empire...
>...A hooded messenger brings torn Imperial banner and the head of a Count of Stirland in a bag. Wurtbad has fallen. This is getting serious.
>I assemble state troops and a squadron of Reiksguard and set out to put Leitdorf down.
>Intelligence reports that all towns in Stirland and Averland fly strange banners. More of Leitdorf's insanity. However, they also report his army is to the South.
>I chase down his army, all tattered and ragged. They look like they were running away from something, though not from me.
>A battle ensues, and though we suffer some casualties, the Averlanders are wiped out and I come face to face with beaten Leitdorf.
>I demand he explains this insanity with attacking Imperial subjects and dressing up as walking dead.
>"Wasn't me" says he "And it was no dressing up."
>He points with a shaking hand.
>An legion of skeletons, witchfire in their eyes, mounts the top of the ridge, and the head of the army is... Vlad...
>I made a grave mistake.

(basically KFC attacked last army of Averland who lost all towns to me, instead of facing Vlad who would've caught up to him anyway next turn. As such KFC wasted soldiers and despite equal number didn't even cause any meaningful damage)

The warpstone is for the liter, not the mother. Grey seer has a paragraph about the warps tone helpping clan rictis breed storm vermin.

Otherwise smaller clans, without warpstone coffers in abundance, would have alot females just being raped and bred anyways. So the argument still stands: there is no way for a female skaven to rise higher then a breeder thing and be your super special snowflake. Skaven can smell pharamones and such anyway.
>>
>>54677460
Grey Seer also states that they feed it to the breed mothers. In the first ten pages, I think.

A white female wizard is mentioned in passing in WFRP 1 and Children of the Horned Rat states that white rats are holy and cloistered at birth. That being said, there are no modern named female grey seers, so either it's rare, their male peers kill them in sanctioned ways, or both.

The only clan that could conceivably deploy females in any role are Eshin, whose assassins go disguised and who sometimes excise their musk glands for the purpose of stealth. Even then, it's supremely unlikely, skaven are pretty socially conservative and there's really no incentive to spare any females for roles besides breeder.

>So cloistered away from the rest of their race are they that some do not learn their race's chittering speech, nor are they proficient in social skills…or so the Skaven believe.

Page 71. Same book also states any skaven born with the markings of the grey seer are immediately whisked away - but there's no prior precident for a female grey seer anyway so it's a moot point.

To be fair, the same book states most skaven piss on their underlings and that they cut the balls off of certain skaven to turn them into 'ratwives'.

Morgoth was afraid of death, not Fingolfin.

Likewise I think it'd be interesting to see a seemingly fearless war god show hesitation when he knows Aenarion has Widowmaker, a sword 7th says is capable of killing gods.

With his disputed murder god brother helping Aenarion, I think even Khorne would be a little unsure of himself.

He would win simply because I think Khaine wouldn't allow Aenarion to kill him even if he was winning (it fits Fantasy Khaine's personality as an asshole who hates everyone but takes a small amount of mutual pity on Elves and Chaos), but Khorne would definitely be wounded and in pain, and neither he nor daemons would talk or boast of the duel.

Just like when Slaanesh pissed off Khaine he left him a massive, jagged scar in 8th (before the End Times bullshit retconned itself).

For me, I really enjoy the idea of variety instead of 'all gods are reflections/wayward pieces of the main Four.' It makes some vague sense with Ulric since he's practically a more honorable Khorne, but what about Shallya or Taal, gods that aren't so obviously relatable to any Chaos god? What about Verena and Myrmidia, the southern gods made by people with little experience with Haos? What about Sigmar himself? And for some reason elven dieties are never questioned like this.

I need Solkan to exist in the same way I need Hashut and all the other dieties to exist - so that there can be some sort of limit to their spheres of influence, no matter how minor the gods thenselves are, and so there's variety beyond what you can twist out of the big four.
>>

>>
>>54676854
The issue here is that all of it occurs in the End Times and later on an arc in Age of Sigmar. For all intents and purposes, it isn't this thread's fluff, system, game, or discussion topic.

It'd be like going into a Star Wars original trilogy discussion thread to debate the Yoda vs. Dooku duel from Attack of the Clones.

Regardless of what Bel'akor said or did or didn't do, it isn't canonical here.

Further, old fluff is not ambiguous. The Gods of Law are very much real and very much exist, and compete with the Gods of Chaos on a regular basis.

There was a fan theory that Khorne, Khaine, and Solkan were all related from within the Warp since all three carry very similar motifs but fall on different moralities (Evil, Neutral, Good, respectively). That's unclear since GW never denied the Law Gods' existence in Fantasy but just stopped talking about them once Malal's license was lost and his Arianka plot dropped.

It's definitely in-universe theory that Khorne and Khaine are kin but purely fan speculation that Solkan is also in the mix. Still, all three are separate Chaos, Elven, and Law gods.
>>
>>54676160
Bel'akor doesn't even do anything elaborate. He tells a follower Solkan is a lie, then throws him somewhere in the Warp, and because the follower doesn't see Solkan it means that Solkan doesn't exist.

I don't follow AoS fluff but I think the follower goes out searching for Solkan and the result is ambiguous.

Still, it's just an example of how shitty the writing became, and how because Bel'akor says "I totally don't lie bro" GW themselves assert he's always honest, because he says no.

Bravo. Not canon here anyways.
>>
