I'm about to wrap up the nth D&D campaign that I've gmed and I'm starting to get burnt out on the system.
What system should I play next?
I see threads on different systems but I don't really know where to begin.
I would like a more rules heavy system and one that strays from medieval fantasy.

Shadowrun.

What would you most like to improve on? Deadly combat? Player involvement? Edgelording?

You play any TSR D&D yet? Or just WotC "D&D"?

Just WotC

I would like more player involvement and deadly combat, if that's possible.
I don't need anymore edglording some of my players already got that down to an equation.

TSR D&D plays nothing like what you've played.
It aims at the Swords and Sorcery genre, not at Epic Fantasy.
>I would like a more rules heavy system
The rules are generally lighter,
>and one that strays from medieval fantasy.
and it's not as married to settings.
>I would like more player involvement
Still going to recommend TSR D&D
>and deadly combat, if that's possible.

Sword and Sorcery defines Epic Fantasy. Are you brain damaged?
>>54651735
Sword and Sorcery belongs in Heroic Fantasy, not Epic Fantasy. Get your definitions straight.
Not to mention that WotC took the Sword from Sword and Sorcery, buried it deep underground and pissed on its grave.
SHADOWRUN IF YOU WANT SOME HEAVY RULES AND CRAZY SHIT.
Best Sytem is FRPG sytem obv
