If you look at that image closer, you'll see the idea is she made it out of Eclipse with her body and mind more or less intact (has the Brand, but otherwise can strive for herself). That's better fate than she had in the original story. While the author has certain... reputation, he can make nice things too. So there's nothing to be freaking out about.
