I want to keep the enchantments theme but it usually plays out with me doing nothing or getting focused for playing scary looking things like Luminarch onto an empty field, followed by being deleted by Prossh or Riku

Has anyone here done a commander draft? As it's not a really common format, I'm wondering how the logistics of it were handled.

How many packs was each player drafting, and how many per pack?

Was there a separate pack for commanders? Or were they mixed in?

What was the minimum deck size? How many players per game/pod? How long did it take from start to finish?

Been running Gisa zombies. Pondering making it into Scarab God. Is he a viable commander or should I stick with a mono black?

Its just a bad card, you need something that can exchange mana or life for creatures or ramp up over time. Assemble the Legion is probably a better choice.

Martial Coup, Increasing Devotion, Entreat the Angels, Spirit Bonds, even Sigil of the Empty Throne can be a total monster if you can spam enchantments or bounce them which is a very easy combo to pull off with white.

It's each upkeep, so it scales with multiplayer. With enough effort, you could get 3 or 4 tokens every turn cycle.

Did you make this? Whoever did misunderstood the meme greatly. You're supposed to put the simplest and generally best way to do something at the top while putting in increasingly weird and inefficient comparisons as you go down until finally you reach an outright stupid thing at the bottom.

For this set of cards Bolt should be on top, then Rift Bolt, Lightning Strike, Open Fire, Ember Shot, and finally the UN set card. I personally would put something like Goblin Boom Keg in there instead of Deal Damage and use Ember Shot for the bottom though. Dude, it draws you a card! Who cares about the mana cost with that effect? Fucking brainlets don't get it.

No. The top is the dumb answer, then it gets more effective towards the middle, then more convoluted towards the bottom as you "transcend" the conventions of good and bad. Ember Shot is shit, Open Fire is bad, Lighting Strike is okay, Lightning Bolt is good, Rift Bolt is good... I guess? And Deal Damage is the sort of thing that you shake your head at. It's basically a measure of "spice" in /edh/'s terminology, with the top being things that you have no excuse to play and the bottom being things that you make excuses to play.

My friend has a Rashmi deck built as a copy/steal deck. Cast a clone/steal spell, then trigger her ability into another one off the top of your deck.

I'm a huge casual piece of shit that loves tribal decks and he usually ends up playing my tribe better than I can with his clones.

I had some foils come pretty curled. Right now, they're jammed between a math textbook with about 7 other ones stacked on top of it. About how long does it normally take to flatten out?

Okay, here's the trick.
Take the foil.
Put that in between two sheets of printer paper.
Place that on a flat surface.
Gently apply an iron to the paper, warming the card without directly applying the iron to it.
Put the warm card in a sleeve.
Put that in a book.
Apply pressure.

They'll usually be fixed overnight. The heat removes the moisture responsible for curve and makes the card malleable. The sleeve prevents the book from potentially inking it.

Best way is to take a tiny bit of acetone (nail polish remover) on a cotton ball and gently rub it on the foil side of the card, the acetone will remove the moisture and make the card flatten again, you can put it in a perfect fit sleeve after and it shouldnt bend again

Say you play your big pal Butcher.
You draw your four cards, Kozi hits the ground and you're now basically entirely at the mercy of your opponents. Maybe you've got Not of this World or Null Brooch, but your deck is 100 cards, so the odds are against you. He probably eats an Anguished Unmaking or Wrath, and you've got to try again next turn.

Distortion though? You play him and draw as many as seven cards. Sure, you aren't guaranteed four every time, but there's an higher threshold for what you could possibly get. Your opponent tries to hit him with removal? Chances are good you might be able to discard something to save him.

Now, you might think, why don't I just put all sorts of protection on Butcher? Maybe some shoes or Darksteel Plate? That's all well and good, but the combo player just cast his Yawgmoth's Will and you're invincible Kozilek isn't going to do much to save you. Our man Distortion? He's happy to trade a Basalt Monolith or something to keep you from losing on the spot.

Distortion gives you the opportunity to actively participate in more of the game.

Right, but his ability means nothing if you don't have cards with the same cmc, which is going to be the case more often than not. His draw is only better than Butcher's if you have two or fewer cards in hand, and is worse in most cases.
Annihilator makes Butcher a much larger threat, even if it's only four permanents it can completely screw over an opponent's board position. His swings have muh more weight to them, and even if it doesn't deal any damage it can still put an unlucky opponent out of comission.

You gotta remember that when you get to the point where you can cast Newzilek, you'll probably have been dumping your hand full of ramp and creatures that almost invariably cost less than him. At that point, you are likely hellbent unless you drew into several other titans that you are unable to cast yet. I think that, at least in colorless, having a great big card draw trigger and a reusable counterspell ability (it's janky, but in colorless you take what you can get) in your command zone is way more important than having a big annihilator with a usually worse card draw trigger in your command zone, especially in a deck with plenty of big annihilators that you can easily draw into.

Oh jesus, I dropped this and didn't even realize what happened until it's too late. That's just mean, particularly if you can reanimate the tree and give it haste.

Now, on the same topic, I'm running a monoblack reanimator deck, but it's turned into a durdly fuckfest where I have way too much mana and way too few bombs to drop. How many 5+ drop creatures is too much? For reference, I'm running gilded lotus, thran dynamo, sol ring, various two drop mana rocks, and a few rituals in addition to the reanimation stuff. My deck seems to draw a billion cards, but I have nothing I can do with them other than pump drana and alpha strike people, which draws an obscene amount of hate.

I used to play slivers at one point too, but it was boring as fuck. It's literally Timmiest deck ever, since it folds to a wrath and relies on combat to win. Nothing wrong with combat, but it was so mindnumbing strategy, I just wonder that why would anyone find that enjoyable.

The first rule of edh imo is you have a deck of 98 cards plus tormods crypt. It only costs you a single slot, there's no reason not to run it. Even if there's not a graveyard centric deck at the table it still can provide value like prevents simple key recursions like eternal witnessing a cyclonic rift. I'm sorry man, my group is pretty similar. I finally got the Naya big stuff vorthos/Timmy to include a relic of progenitus because at least it's on flavor.
