meaning the side with 1 hole drilled in it is heavier than the side with 6 holes, meaning the die is slightly more likely to come to rest with 1 facing down and 6 facing up. essentially every die that's drilled is slightly weighted.

So I got out my bin of super old ork bikers, boar riders and other currently unused stuff. And when I say old ork bikers, I mean the OLD shit. Not entirely sure if I should bother putting everything back together, or if I want to just buy two sets of the newer ork biker kits, and put these guys away in storage. They were all painted by my buddy in the 2nd ed days, so not sure I'd want to repaint anything, but I suppose I could keep them around a while if I do repair them.

Anyone know if wartrakks are pretty good on the table? They look okay looking at the rules, but I'd love to hear how they went for anyone running them. Not sure what to do with this war buggy, I sure as fuck ain't buying anymore of that old ass kit to give it back up.

Cover giving +1 to saves is also an interesting thing to consider here considering how few weapons or units can ignore cover now. Even flamers - flamers! - don't ignore cover anymore.

GEQ having a 4+ save in cover that isn't just completely ignored by almost every weapon in the game makes them dramatically more durable even if you do have a -1AP weapon.

I also wouldn't say terminators are flatly weaker; they still have a 5++ and with two wounds most of the things that partially ignore armor but don't negate it and force the invuln only do one damage.

How's everyone doing on the campaign?

I'm sort of pissed to learn that only Chaos or Imperium can get points and xenos can only remove points from them.

I played 2 games today with my Orks. One against Chaos and the other against Space Wolves. Beat them both so I took a point off each team. By the end of the day imperium had 6 and chaos had 1 at my lgs.

What have been your favorite units to run so far in 8th? What have you had the most fun fighting?

My favorite units so far have been Bullgryn, Conscripts and Crusaders. Bullgryn are so good now that people actually are scared of them and get annoyed by them. They are no longer a hilarious point sink, which feels so good. Conscripts I loved using in 7th and they are just as fun in 8th. It's so fun running across the field and FRSRF then charging. It pushes everyone so far back. And Crusaders are just so tanky and fun with acts of faith.

I've had the most fun so far against Ork hordes because it ends up being brutal melee for 5-7 turns.

Reminds me of my last game. 30 Boys charge and wipe all but 4 Conscripts of my 30 man blob, then my 4 Bullgryn and Straken plus Nork hopped out of their Chimeras and jumped into the squad of 30 and basically killed all but a few. Power Maul and Slabshield. The Brute shield is nice if you know you're going to be hunting some things that will do -3AP. But most of the time I have them beating on everything, so the 2+ normal save is good enough.

If I walk them I bring 6 and usually an Astropath to make them +1 save. Helps a lot against Missiles and Lascannons.

True, has to be those transports which is a shame. I have a few, but I still hate Rhinos. Crusaders are pretty fine out in the open since they have Storm Shields and the faith move which gets them 6+D6 them another 6 in the movement phase plus the charge distance. I've closed the distance on people pretty fast which is great. DCA are great, but they usually die after one round of combat. Either people are smart and leave combat, or the DCA completely delete a unit and they are left in the open. I haven't tried Arcos yet, but having 2 wounds makes them a bit more durable.

Yeah I always use DCA in a transport. S3 isn't great, but Zealot helps make sure they hit almost every attack. A2 isn't great that's true. A Priest has helped me a lot and using the Fight twice faith act has helped too, but obviously if they keep running away it's not going to help much. That's what I hate about Straken. He's so much stronger when it's your turn and he's still in combat since he can order himself to fight twice, but most people flee combat after you charge.

Ben Counter has written many good books centering around Lysander, if you don't mind reading stories almost exclusively centered around him. The Imperial Fists as a chapter doesn't really come into play as much as you would probably want, though.
