What's up, /tg/?
So, I've been lurking a lot recently and there seem to be lots of threads about magical realming. Opinion seems to be negative about it, but I can't quite figure out what exactly it is.
What the fuck is magical realming, why is it bad, and how do I avoid it if at all possible?
Oh fuck, forgot to mention that I'd also love to hear any entertaining/interesting stories and anecdotes, as well.

>why is it bad
It's not bad if all people at the table agree on this.
It's bad if one person uses this social gathering for his own pleasure which isn't pleasurable (and desirable) for other people next to him.
The problem is being a dick, not fantasizing about weird stuff.

But what -is- it?

A magical realm is when a campaign/scenario element is obviously being done to appeal to a fetish, to the detriment of the game.
It is occasionally used to refer to fetishes in rpgs in general, such as "the gm accidentally unleashed my magical realm with some giants"

It's just awkwardly cramming your fetish I to a game.
It's also greatly overblown on /tg/ and isn't a common occurance in actual play. Here it's mostly an excuse to lewdpost while tangentially making your thread game related so the thread doesn't get canned.
Here's the thing: it's really common for people to bring sexual baggage to the table, it is an empowerment fantasy after all. The key is to not make people uncomfortable, or be obnoxious about it.

No it isn't, and you should probably just accept that you're a twisted pervert.

No anon, that'll just encourage him to give in and become a total perv gm
