On a serious note, if you're actually starting out then remember:

Thin your paints
Multiple thin coats
Drybrushing is your friend as a beginner
Take your time

My first minis looked like shit. I'm at the point now where I've had people ask if I do commission work. Keep at it and you'll improve over time. There's some great tutorials on youtube.
