I think it is outright stated that he didn't want to be king, therefore the claim passed on to Malekith.
If he hadn't sired a son by then, the claim automatically passes to his brother. Otherwise his son would have to relinquish the claim too, but since no one mentions his son, I don't think he had one at the time.
>>
>>54483877
Not that's ever been noted down.

I always thought this would be an interesting reason for Malekith to get burned, Asuryan may not give a fuck whether Morellion wants the throne or not, he's still the heir.
>>
>>54483913

Then the more recent PK's would have been burned too.

If Tyrion thought he had a claim he'd probably tried the flames himself after he learned Finubar died instead of taking the Sword of Khaine.
>>
>>54484123
It's a bit of a wierd one.

If I remember rightly Tyrion too up the sword because he fucking hated everyone and was upset his daughter died. Fuck the ET though.

Old canon Morathi is one of the most evil bitches there is, and manipulated her son from day one. She has no warm feelings for him.

Post-retcon Morathi is borderline senile and vacillates between wanting to be useful to her son to fucking him into the ground mistaking him for his dead father.
>>
>>54483881
Shouldn't be way too hard to kitbash. Start with one of the Men-at-Arms as a base, probably one of the ones with some metal armor on them, and start adding bits of your choice. Maybe an Empire helmet or dagger to help emphasize the scavenging nature on top of what other bits you can add on or greenstuff. Use an Empire halberdier to give you the basis of him holding a lance he's thrusting with.

Is it okay that I enjoy the idea of a middle ground? They have feelings for each other in an 'you're the only one I can trust, since I know you too well to backstab me and you need me' sort of way, but they're actively making use of each other and still plotting to betray each other. This allows them to be on the same side and work together, but to also work against each other without too much consequence - even if Morathi betrays Malekith and fails, he's forced to forgive her for all the secrets she knows and has yet to tell him. There is almost, almost something like an actual mother and son relationship, or even a loverlike one, but it's been buried under so many years of using each other for their own gain.

Can you not just make thing up, you total cunt? Morathi only began to lose her mind at the onset of the End Times when her goddess mantle started to mess with her mind. And she never mistook Malekith for his father. Get off the incest train, you degenerate bastard.

Prior to the End Times, Morathi was her evil self and helped forge her son into the bitter and hateful man-elf he is today.
>>

>>

>There is almost, almost something like an actual mother and son relationship

After Morathi was taken by Slaanes, Teclis said that Morathi probably never loved Malekith or his father. She just was attracted to the power of the Widowmaker and Khaine. Malekith commented that he doesn't believe that. That his mother mind was shrouded by madness at the end. He believed that she truly cared for him and his father.

>even a loverlike one

Oh piss off. The only confirmed physical contact he had with her is him punching her in the face.
>>

>>54484922

>>
>>54485145

>>
>>54484922
I'm not saying I necessarily support the idea of them being lovers, but it's something that's been teased at if never outright stated, and probably later redacted or toned down. If you accept it on some level, it kind of makes sense - they're both using a variety of methods in order to control one another, even the relationship they have in of itself. Morathi could make use of her own feelings for Malekith as her son and the vengeance she craves to help continually motivate her, and the fact that Malekith knows that she desires vengeance as much as he does keeps her off of his radar as a threat while they share a common enmity. Malekith could take advantage of a lover-like relationship - even a false one - in order to get intimately close to Morathi, both to share secrets and to gauge how willing she is to allow him so close to her in such an intimate fashion - or Morathi could use it as a means of controlling Malekith's emotions since she knows how to calm him down, allowing him to best make use of the tools at his disposal, and therefore continue wielding the power that keeps her in a favored place as his mother. At some point it probably gets too meta, but who's to say two elves playing a thousands of years long game can't pull twists that we can barely fathom?

Imagine being Malekith in that scene and having to be all like "damn, Mother, you fuckin' fine, all sexy with your tight body and horrific androgynous monster face. I would totally have sex with you, both as Witch King and as a son." when all he really wants to do is fuck another 16 year old in his torture chamber. Like seriously imagine having to be Malekith and not only stand menacingly in that gateway while Mother flaunts her disgusting body in front of you, the favorable lighting barely concealing her stretchmarks she got birthing you and dirty, leathery skin, and just stand there, take after take, hour after hour, while she perfected that barefoot walk. Not only having to tolerate her monstrous fucking visage but her haughty attitude as everyone on set tells her she's STILL GOT IT and DAMN, MORATHI LOOKS LIKE *THAT*?? because they're not the ones who have to stand there and watch her mannish fucking hag face contort into types of grimaces you didn't even know existed before that day. You've been fucking nothing but a healthy diet of high elven maidens and slaves and later alleged rape victims for your ENTIRE CAREER coming straight out of the boonies in Nagarythe. You've never even seen anything this fucking disgusting before, and now you swear you can taste the sweat that's breaking out on her dimpled ancient stomach as she sucks it in to writhe it suggestively at you, smugly assured that you are enjoying the opportunity to get paid to stand there and revel in her "statuesque (for that is what she calls herself)" beauty, the beauty she worked so hard for with blood sacrifices in the previous months. And then the trailer director calls for another take, and you know you could kill every single person on this pathetic little island before Alith Anar could put you down, but you stand there and endure, because you're fucking Malekith. You're not going to lose your future phoenix throne over this. Just bear it. Hide your face behind a mask and bear it.

Is there any old lore on the Kurgans or Chaos in general that I can dredge up for this?
>>
>>54487665
I don't remember where I read it, so don't quote me on it, but I think the Kurgan are a distant relative of the people of Kislev, and in the ancient past instead of worshiping Chaos worshiped a huge mammoth.

Is this a good place to talk about WFRPG? Hoping to run some second edition for people, are there any adventures/scenarios that stand out for being particularly good?
>>
>>54487665
Eh, the Norse are enough as it.

While I adore the attention CA is giving them, having another non codex army that's composed of Northern barbarians would be a huge mistake. We need Kislev and the Southern Realms before that.
>>
>>54487957
That's fair. I do figure that it's possible considering that the third game will have more eastern lands, and I made this mostly as an excuse to add more FW models.

Might make more for fun if people care enough. Wish there were more Kislev art out there.
>>
can anyone give me a quick rundown Mordheim vs Frostheim? Basically pros and cons, not technical differences.
>>
>>54487920
Yes, it is.

I really like 'A Brutal Finish' from Realms of Sorcery. It has fighting, sleuthing, a pyromaniac, and a wine festival.
>>
Did WHFRP 3rd edition meaningfully contribute to the lore? I'm not concerned about the mechanics of the system, just any potential expansion of the fluff.
>>
>>54483287
>10,000 years of screaming 'MOMMY, IT BURNS!!!!!'

>>
>>54487957
To be fair, they could easily slap a Kurgan or Hung label on the Norse army as it is, as long as the army compositions, colors, and perhaps some other aesthetic elements were distinct. Modders could even help this along by giving the Kurgan and Hung Yeomen Archers, so you have mounted archers for a Mongolian/Turkish feel, or perhaps other units.

Though I do thin generally you're right, they don't deserve an entire army of their own, at least not as part of a big update. Mainly for the reason that GW really never focused on the Kurgan and Hung much - a lot of people aren't even exactly sure what they're like.

And I know that it's supposed to emphasize how dickish the Wood Elves can be, and the Bretonnians might see them as supernatural due to their mysterious nature and whatever. But you do not keep friends by fucking them over - Ariel's logic makes no sense. Orion is the smarter of the two for assuming that he'd have to Hunt somewhere else. And being a wargame, it's more than made clear that the Bretonnians can fight Wood Elves and regularly do so, so the idea of them being a so ill known to the point of being a force of nature to the Bretonnians is ill-founded. It'd be like if the Dwarves could somehow get away with raiding Imperial villages all the time.

Dark Elves only matter to Barak Varr other than Malekith who any Dwarf would be immortalized for killing.

High Elves only matter through the Empire, unless its Eltharion or Aliathra who are both alright as far as history is concerned.

In the Norse End Times, Ragnarok, the forces of the gods and men face off against the legions of the dead. Seeing how Norsca is a transplant of Norse cultures, do the Norscan tribes see Nagash and the undead as their ultimate foe in some apocalyptic battle?
>>
>>54496071
They only want to worship Chaos, pillage and murder.
>>
>>54496071
Good source of skulls for Khorne, not so good source of blood.
>>
Speaking of Norsca, people were previously wanting counter-culture factions of the Norse that fight against the more pro-chaos gods society.

>Seeing how Norsca is a transplant of Norse cultures
What about a minor faction in TWW with a leader based on THE MIGHTY THOR wielding an enchanted hammer as his weapon?

The hammer is both a reference to Thor and an obvious point of contention with the mainstream mauraders since the hammer is usually though of as a sigmarite weapon compared to say the axe or oversized spiky sword.
(You could even take it farther by giving him magic items like the strength-boosting belt, and as a mount a chariot pulled by great horned beasts)

Would be kind of like all the other 'rebel' factions you encounter when playing as other civs.
>>
>>54496240
So Sigmar and Warhammer?
>>
>>54496071
The Norscans have no ragnarok.

The orcs do tho, when the Best Boss Ragnar will go wild with his axe and destroy the world, an event known as the Ragnarork
>>
>>54496255
Yes that is why you could work it into the plot, and why they are so counter-culture to the other more chaotic marauders while representing the 'southern traders' people were mentioning from the Norsca lore in the rpgs.

Skeggi is an already existing version of a Norse civ that is less overtly chaos-aligned, most likely because of how far away it is from the home country.
You get alot of human adventurers stopping by there on their quest to plunder the jungle wealth.

Skeggi is definitely going to be in TWW2. It's half the reason they decided to make a Norsca faction.
>>
>>54496362
>>54496347
You can easily mod a non chaos faction for norsca with some startpos.esf editing. You just have to make sure that they don't have the vampire or chaos religions, and their faction bonus cancels out the faction aversion other factions have with norsca.

-Albion Total Warhammer Army-
Put together for fun, based on what everyone was mentioning in the previous thread

Wolf Pack - Beasts
Giant Falcons - Flying
Fen Beasts - Monstrous Infantry

Axe Clansmen
Axe Clansmen with Shields
Spear Clansmen
Spear Clansmen with Shields
Longspear (pike) Clansmen
Javelin Clansmen (Javelins and shields)
Woad Berserkers (two handed weapons/Frenzy)
'Peat Hunters' - Skirmishing infiltrators (javelins)

Chariots

Young Giants - Monsterous Melee/Ranged Infantry
Giant - Melee/Ranged Monster

Chieftain - Melee Hero
Druid - Caster Hero
Truthsayer - Caster/Melee Lord (Give option for giant fenbeast variant as mount)

*Army ignores attrition from Swamp terrain

Should Zoats be added to the Albion forces as well? Perhaps as both elite monstrous infantry and melee/caster heroes?
The theme of the Albion army seems to be alot of monsters of the wild places backed up by primitive highlanders all being lead by mystical servants of the Old Ones.

Most of their heroes would have bonuses to lowering Chaos/Undead corruption as an extra gimmick.

Dwarf Army Book and revised.jpg

Which should i use in the 6th edition?

Both of tehse count as 6th ed, apparently, but the 'revised' armybook, while giving a lot more options, is the only 6th ed book now written by cavatore, and comparing it to the other armybook it looks pretty fucking busted: all lords and heroes have more points to spend in magic equipment than any other equivalent in other armies, and the option of giving your lords shieldbearers basically gives him a free 2+ AV with no runes spent (1+ if the lord has a shield)

I mean i like to win, but i really don't know if it would be wise to use the revised manual against, i dunno, 6th edition HE or O&G or Chaos Hordes, since with the right rune i can basically nullify roughly half of these armies magic options, while making it virtually impossible for them to cast a single spell all game

>>
>>54497376
No but really, what do i choose? Cavatore is probably the best writer GW had rulewise, all his books are perfectly balanced, but the dwarfs one is counterbalanced by a terrible lack of options and high point cost.

The more recent book gives more points to spend but gives so many options you basically have a counter ready against anything thrown at you

25 more points in magic items may not seem much, but it is when for that amount you can buy another weapon rune or a rune that ggives you 2+ward save against ALL shooting attacks, magic included

if you're not going to play AoS, it's terribly inefficient as far as price goes.

A box of dryads + treemen + dryad hero is not worth 85 euros
>>
>>54497993
what?
>treemon - 50 euros
>droids - 33 euros
>branchbich - 18 euros (this one hardly matters, )
>Start Collecting - 65 euros

You're saving 18 euros even if you don't count Branchwych, since she's just a converted dryad, really
>>
>>54498051
yes, you're saving money on AoS models, but what he's saying is that you're actually not getting that much value in WHFB terms for that 65 euros
>>
>>54498068
I don't think I follow... a model is a model, no matter what you use it for. You're saving 18 euros on those particular models, not counting branchwych.
If he's saying that models themselves are overpriced - well, they are, there are better and cheaper treemen, though not dryads - it still has nothing to do with game system.
>>
>>54498111

It really doesn't. I obviously haven't had my hair that big, but I've had some Big Hair™ before (over 3 feet long, incredibly thick). It weighed a pound, maybe a pound and a quarter.

You only notice it if you aren't very fit/active, because even an extra pound can do a number on your if you aren't used to it. Otherwise, braiding it/putting it up can relieve a lot of that by reducing movement. You might also have headaches from your scalp being tugged on all day, but putting it up relieves some of that, too.

That much hair, assuming it weighs the same as human hair, is going to be in the 8 to 10 pound area (based on what my 3ft braid of hair weighed after I cut it off, compared to how much she seems to have). Which would be fucking insane, but she's also, essentially, a demi-god. So, probably not too bothered by it.

Wow, that's a big question.

The most marked difference I can think of is relative power level of player characters. WFRP characters start out shit and will only increase in power level marginally and over a long time. What can kill you at the start of the campaign an probably still kill you at the end of it.

I'd like to see the third game as Total War: Tamurkhan Edition. It's looking like it might cover a lot of the same ground: Daemons, Ogres and Chaos Dwarfs.
Some kind of steppe theme might be good too if they were to fit in Kislev: Ungols, Kurgan, Hobgoblins and Ogres.

No, that's not even the worst of it - Kemmler had been given back his powers and sanity by the Chaos gods. As far as I know, he's the only Necromancer with such a tie to Chaos.

I can't remember if Kemmler is loyal to Chaos and Krell to Nagash, or vice versa, but that's been something weakly implied in the later parts of the lore, that Krell isn't just a puppet and is actually plotting against Kemmler.

Kind of a mean thing to do to one of the first Warhammer characters and one that's still my personal favorite, even if he really looks Mickey Mouse should be his apprentice. Maybe he's a cranky old man, but he's also a classic necromancer with a shitton of battles under his belt, connecting him to Bretonnia, the Empire and other races. He's not like that corpse-cart guy.

Would a Norsca victory mean the end of the world?
>>
>>54505342
Yes.
>>54505396
No.

Norsca don't bring about End Times, they just pillage to come home rich vikings and the guy who takes the credit for it in the eyes of the Chaos Gods becomes a Warrior Of Chaos as a Chaos Champion. That's step one in the process to their ultimate goal, Daemon Prince.

On the other hand if they fail that Champion aspirant gets his soul eaten and his corpse used as a puppet by them for a year before he collapses into nothing and is forgotten forever.
>>
>>54505511
Good.

This is really the reason why I can not play the warriors of chaos in total warhammer. The end times ruined it for me.
>>
>>54505573
Yeah.

I hope Daemons aren't pushing to destroy the world. Being stuck as Arxhaon's bitch would fucking suck.
It makes sense honestly to split Daemons in four and the ultimate goal being to shut out the other three Chaos Gods from involvement in the world. No Confederation, only killing the rest of the Daemons, Be'lakor, and Archaon.

Imagine the Chaos Gods are a little like the Greek Gods. They have favourite champions and send them out into the world for the purposes of amusement.
While their champions are killing, corrupting and generally causing shit to go down, they enjoy themselves. When their champions falter, fail or become bogged down in some boring siege or other, they grow tired, punish them and move their attention to new diversions.
It is the goal of the Chaos Champions and their warbands to murder and despoil, but it is not necessarily their goal to wipe out civilisation. Because that's boring and if the Chaos Gods merely wanted to see their followers fight amongst themselves, they have the whole Realm of Chaos to do that in.

The End Times is what might happen if the Chaos Gods ever became bored of their game and wanted to wipe the slate clean. But of course, that would never happen and arguments to the contrary are but the fever dreams of madmen.
>>
>>54505830
I always thought that Chaos wanted the end of Order/civilization not to destroy the world
>>
>>54505573
I wish there was a bit more diplomatic room with the 'evil' factions so far.

Like, playing as the Vampire Counts and creating an undead kingdom out of the southern Empire without caring for repercussions is fun, don't get me wrong. But the Templehof vampires are killed off quick, you either beat down or confederate the Von Carsteins, and then there's a distant attempt to make friends with Mousilion which will probably die off before you can get close to them. After that all you have are perhaps some living vassals (which I do not recommend) that will probably get killed off by the Warriors of Chaos when they invade, and a shitton of enemies of all races. Except the Wood Elves, oddly enough. But even the 'vampire-influenced' Greenskins don't often make deals with you.

I actually play as Kemmler, and take a smug satisfaction in never making use of Mannfred even when he later becomes available.

I usually end up confederating and getting Vlad, but I've never actually seen Isabella at work. One game I loved I got him when he was just an army running around the map with his territories conquered, and he still had a unit of Blood Knights and Vargheists on him (the former of which I didn't have access to). I pretended that they were Vampires that had been with him when he was last alive and called them 'the Loyal Blood' and 'the Lost Sons' respectively.
>>
>>54506201
Vlad and Isabella as a combo are really good. Isabella is a bit more of a support lord, but she buffs the vampire heros. The best way is to have her reinforce Vlad.

Vlad is a fucking engine of destruction though.

I miss them, they had great community engagement. There were annual scenario competitions and they hosted fan material on the main site.

>GW announces 9e

>No squatted models return, but they do get updated stats and continue to exist in lore

>AoS remains the posterboy game that gets all the advertising

>The gameplay is literally based on the same base as Generals Compendium AoS and the new 40k edition

>New BL novels come out in this post SoC setting

>New boxed game, Vermintide tabletop which is slipped into SoC continuity. They encourage you to take any model into the game similar to Silver Tower. In fact, its just Silver Tower with different models

>New event begins, battle for Khuresh. Its clear from the start that it will mean jack shit for continuity like how the Albion campaign or the AoS God Beasts
