Jumpchain CYOA Thread #1628: Chain Resonance Edition

Well, now that I finally caught up with World Seed, I gotta say that I'm pretty disappointed. The world building seemed really good in the first and middle part, but once the sci-fi stuff started the quality took a big hit imo, and it seems like all other classes are trash compared to druid. Maybe I'm wrong and they have their own tricks and specialities, but there's no way to know because they got at most a single-sentence description.

To make that post actually a productive one:

Jumpers, tell me, do you use familiars of any kind? Be it to aid you in a fight, your spell casting, research or just in your daily life. If so, have they any sentience of their own? How did you get them?

As to your question, yes. Yes I have. But usually its not the jumls fault it is like where aomething starts out awesome then falls off, I used to love one piece for example but man it went to weird places.

I like to use faeries or demons if I need sapient ones, which I have a few. Otherwise I use necromancy for puppet pet needs, you can make a lot out of skeleton bones and magic.

Picked up some LIGHT familiars in Duel Monsters: Shadow Realm, which is able to help with magic, can cast some of it's own, and I can merge with it to take on a super form.

I don't know what it looks like though. I don't think it should look like Kuriboh or those little cube angel guys, but I can't think of anything else that's good.

Hello everybody, just wanted to drop this surprise Soul Eater update that the two of us collaborated on. It sprang up from a conversation about NOT! which she'd seen but I hadn't and turned into enough ideas for a major update, Val donating the grand majority of them for me to write up and turning this into a collaboration Jump as of this update.

The changelog can be found at the bottom of the Jump, but I can also post it if people would like.

I created mine using the Soru Soru no Mi and the Demon Spawn from Hero BBS. They are basically Big Mom's personal Homies, plus an earth and water themed ones.

They have sentience, and I usually use them as bodyguards and personal assistants. Their power outside their element is fairly limited, but they make good proxies to channeling more dangerous and exotic stuff.

That's a fairly limited point of view. A Jumper has access to a lot of powers and abilities to get around that kind of stuff: from multi-layered consciousnesses with different mind-trains running simultaneously and cooperating with each other, using familiar as proxies, having multiple sub-souls or soul constructs to handle the corruption and channel the power, among other things.

There've been exceptions before, including my own work. And as we said already, a bunch of the perks make assumptions that you have certain abilities. Several of them also kinda mean that if you just get those assumptions by taking them, you entirely obviate the point of the race. The big balancing factor is the sin bit and them not being perfectly obedient to the intent of your commands. Greed wants everything, Wrath is eternally pissed off, Lust really wants to fuck and flirt, and if they can get away with something you didn't explicitly bar that directly appeals to that central trait they totally will go and do that.

If instead you mean that the perks require the race's biology, then the perk should allow you to bypass the need for that biology, same as any other racial perk in normal jumps when bought outside of their origin. For example, Nine Lives can give you a resurrection despite not having extra souls.

Anyway, won't be up for much longer but I might as well outline plans for Black Butler to show I've got it underway.

Doing the usual two sets of origins. First is for the races (Human, Demon, Shinigami as the main ones. Maybe Angel? Seriously doubt I'd be able to do anything with the Hound or really want to) Second is for the roles (Noble, Servant, Foreign, Student, Circus, Londoner, and probably some more). Probably only going for single perk trees instead of double but some origins might get some more. We'll see eh?

Mostly focusing on the manga but as usual I'll include what I can from the anime (Probably more the second season then the first) and put in a drawback if you really absolutely have to go there.

What if I said that it's more like a luck perk? Basically, singing the song out loud would increase the likelihood of similar things happening around you, but it's still dependent on those things existing in the world.

For instance, if you sang "Rain, rain, go away," you could stop even a monsoon, and if you sang a character's song, there'd be a good chance that you'll encounter him or her soon, maybe in the middle of the song, even; on the other hand, if the song is about things that don't exist in the setting that you're singing in, they won't manifest.

What's the new perk that's supposed to be the combo between Magical Being + Totemic? It's mentioned a few times in the jump, but I can't seem to find it. Or is it just those 2 upgrades to Totemic?
