Normal bears have like 18 str and owl bears have 20 I think. Or something like that. They're vicious.
I will admit though, the bite shouldn't do as much as a normal bears' but due to lore BS it does

Anatomically an owl's beak is not a very good weapon. It's not designed to kill. Sure if the owlbear manages to get a good bite, the force is worse. The problem realistically speaking is being able to really get its relatively small beak to hit with that flat fucking face.
