When's the last time your character took a bath?
>>
>>54435022
Last night into this morning. She's a mermaid who sleeps in a portable bathtub.
>>
>>54435057
Sleeping in potable tubs is top tier, you have fine taste.

PRESTIDIGITATION
>>
can you use vital strike as part of a full attack action or just when you make a regular attack action?
>>
>>54435085
it hurts to look at you, anon
you didn't even fucking read the rules, did you
>>
>>54435099
What do you want to bet he's like the friend I have who's been playing Pathfinder for almost half a decade and still doesn't grasp how Deadly Aim works?
>>
>>54435080
FUCKING CASTERS GET OUT, REEEEEEEEEEE

Get in the fucking tub!
>>
>>54435099
the description of vital strike states 'when you use the attack action".
>>
>>54435118
But she needs to cast Create Water to fill the tub, you silly
>>
>>54435123
You know what that isn't? A full-attack.
>>
>>54435123
Gee i wonder if there's something different from an attack action and a full attack
>>
>>54435123
Now take a moment to think. Use that noggin. Which one of those two are more likely to be the "attack action" that you seek? Is it the thing that's called a FULL attack action, or is it the one called just the attack action (not "regular", just attack action)?
>>
>>54435022
The PLD party almost drowned today if that counts.
>>
>>54435162
yeah but you can make an attack, and then decide to full attack or not. It states it right in the rules of attacking that you don't have to declare you're making a full attack. I'm not talking about two weapon fighting.
>>
>>54435184
Nope. Tell them to get back in the water and don't come up until they stop twitching.
>>
>>54435180
what I'm asking is if I have two attacks from my base attack bonus, if I can make the first one using vital strike and then attack again normally.
>>
>>54435212
no.
>>
>>54435212
No you dumb fucknut, you can't. Because Vital Strike is not usable with the full attack action, and you need to take a full attack action to make multiple attacks from a high BAB (or TWF). And so, if you make one attack with Vital Strike, you lock yourself out of taking the option of making a second attack, because you can't full attack anymore.
>>
>>54435212
You either make one attack with vital strike, using the attack action, or you make a full attack

HOLY FUCK WHY CAN'T NIGGERS JUST READ THE RULES
>>
>>54435147
Get buckets and a well, you divine spell bootlicker! Ain't no way but the martial way! We work for our comfort!
>>54435199
It's a Standard, and can't be used as part of a full attack. I am feeling incredibly abrasive, do further arguments to three contrary will be met with derision.
>>54435184
Unless you scrubbed behind your ears while struggling for breath, it doesn't fucking count.

>>
>>54435281
"DURR WHICH DICE DO I ROLL" implies you can't read. "DURR WHAT IS THE ATTACK ACTION" implies the same. Thus, you can't read, and the reaction is completely justified.

Now get out, nigger.
>>
>>54435281
You literally fucking are, you are literally asking a basic question. The attack action and the full attack action are different. You absolutely cannot read.
>>
>>54435212
Anon I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you're not trolling but are rather some kind of a noob, but if you're doing something that takes an Attack action to complete, that action is going to be MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE to a full attack action, which eats up both your move and standard/attack action in order to actually hit more than once.

>>54435117
I'm sorry but I feel the need to expand on this, when I say that she doesn't know what it does I mean that I watched her try to shoot something with a crossbow, roll a D20 then add no bonuses to her attack roll, then if she hit she described her damage as being her Dex mod+her level. Apparently she came to this conclusion after reading the text blurb on the feat listing and not actually clicking into the feat to read what exactly it did.
>>54435281
As far as I can tell you're guilty of the same thing she is, any level of investigation would have told you what an attack action implies.

It's not about memorization. A quick search of the pfsrd would have given the exact answer laid out clearly. Instead of making any effort to find the information, they held their hands out, expecting spoonfeeding. If you're a part of this community, lift your weight.

There isn't actually one kind of black knight. In video games it's usually just some evil knight, but I would say that's actually the more uncommon kind in literature.

Sometimes it's just a heroic knight without a lord. Sometimes it's just a powerful knight who conceals his identity. Sometimes it's a disgraced but still-noble wanderer.
>>
>>54435885
That is a minimum effort, dickweasel. They were asking about actual rule interactions.

People bitch and whine about this place being nothing but waifus and shitposting, but you stop that kind of thing by being an open community so new people join and it doesn't become incestuous.

I'm completely chill, and it's really clearly said, an attack action is a standard action. Anon didn't read, and anon was told to go read. What did anybody expect?
>>54435807
I haven't called anybody a single name. I haven't told anybody to fuck off. If telling somebody to read is being a douche, then I'm a douche. It's written in the rules right there. There isn't a how and why beyond that. Read, and you'll know that. Simple as that. It's not a high horse to expect somebody to read the instructions before asking questions. I'm seriously being civil here. Don't try to aim for loopholes without a solid understanding of the rules. You'll fall flat on your face. Read the rules, play with some friends, get comfortable, then dig deeper. If you do it before, you'll have no fucking idea how your character works.
>>
>>54435959

>>
>>54435990
Y'ever sat down and thought about how many goddamn rules there are in this game?

And also, have you ever thought that some people want to ask people who specifically know rather than try to puzzle out this super specific system on their own? That maybe it could be an opportunity for them to talk about something and get involved in the community? That maybe people ASK OTHER PEOPLE because they WANT TO TALK TO OTHER PEOPLE?

Them asking doesn't hurt you in any way, so don't chuck such a goddamn tantrum over it, you baby.
>>
>>54436093
Have you ever tried reading the basic rules, so that you don't ask super basic questions on level with 'what dice do i roll now?'

Once again, I don't want people who can't read here. If you can't read, fuck off to 5e or some other game where they'll coddle and spoonfeed you, but if you can't be bothered to read and understand THE MOST BASIC RULES OF THE SYSTEM I have no time for you.

The poisoned River Styx has its source in Abaddon, before it meanders like a twisted serpent onto other planes. Abaddon may be the most hostile of the Outer Planes; it is the home of the daemons, fiends of pure evil untouched by the struggle between law and chaos, who personify oblivion and destruction. Daemons, which are ruled by four godlike archdaemons, are feared as devourers of souls

Making an attack is a Standard Action, as stated. Also stated above that section, right under the heading of Standard Action is... Attack Action. The same kind of action mentioned by Vital Strike. One said to be a special type of Standard Action. The question was if you can use Vital Strike as part of a Full-Attack Action, but an Attack Action is said specifically to be a Standard Action. A special type of Standard Action. So, why would you be able to do this?

It's very clear. An Attack Action is a special Standard Action. That's it. You use your standard to do it, which means you don't get to Full-Attack. They're 2 different, defined actions that are spelled out in the rules as different. They aren't the same. Honestly, I really don't get what's confusing. The problem is you think the terms are interchangeable, but they aren't. The question boils down to "can I do this special standard action as part of a full-round action?" This is a basic question. Any muddying is trying to get more out of the rules than was presented.

Hey pgg. I'm making a homebrew world. Lemme tell yah about it.

In this world called Xera there is a single city called Amsemar built within a gigantic pit in the earth and long slope of earth that leads out of the pit and into the surrounding wastelands. A gigantic white, circular wall segments the city into two parts. Within the wall is a paradise inhabited by the precursors, a race with similar qualities to the aasimar, who live in luxury and follow a strict set of ritual guidelines. On the outside live the regular Xerans, with similar traits to tieflings, who have been mutated by the harsh rays of the sun over many millenia. The Xerans work in the mines that surround the city under the guidance of the priest caste, which believe that with enough tribute in gold and jewels that the hardworking Xeran can shed their mortal form and inhabit the body of a Shabti, made from the product of their labor, and rise into the land of the precursors, whom they believe to be the Gods and Goddesses of Xera.

There's a great deal more to the story and the world that will be uncovered by the Xeran party after events have unfolded, but you can see that there is a heavy ancient egyptian influence on the world aesthetically speaking. Sha, mummies, scarab swarms, all that. I like to use music or background noise in a lot of my scenes, so I was wondering if anyone has some musical suggestions for any of the various areas they might encounter.

Also if you have any other tips on a fun egyptian themed game I'm totally open.
>>
>>54437199
People were arguing about it both here and on discord, and in true /pfg/ fashion, some twats try to drag one into the other for no reason.

>>54437233
The actual rules question was irrelevant to the shitstorm.
>>
>>54437233

It could be a bit clearer.

Frankly i'd rule vital strike as being a "Standard Action" rather than "An Attack Action"
>>
>>54437267
That'd probably make life a lot easier.

I mean, it's not inconceivable that someone could think that a full attack is made up of multiple attack actions.

Paizo's writing isn't exactly stellar at the best of times, and CRB shit is the absolute WORST it's ever been.
>>
>>54437267
Would have been clearer, but they wanted it to mesh with other things that are Attack Actions. If they're all separate Standards, Paizo would have to list which ones work together, and that would make adding more interactions more difficult, as they'd need some grand table or you edit the text of the old feats to match the new feats.

I can see why they did it, that doesn't make it any prettier, though.
>>
>>54436995
God that feat chain is badly designed. The FIFTH feat in, you are permitted to use Weapon Finesse with the thing you've been presumably swinging around off a bad attribute for all eight previous fucking levels. Paizo puts zero thought into whether concepts are allowed to work at a reasonable level.
>>
>>54437386
Charging Momentum (Weapon Mastery)
You use the momentum of your charge to deal devastating
damage to your opponents.
Prerequisites: Str 13, Vital Strike, fighter level 5th,
weapon training with a melee weapon.
Benefit: Whenever you charge an opponent and make a single
melee attack at the end of your charge, you can attempt to strike
with devastating force. You can apply the Vital Strike feat to this
attack. You can apply the Improved Vital Strike or Greater Vital
Strike feat to your charge instead if you have either of those feats.
In addition to those feats usual effects, for every 5 by which your
charging attack roll exceeds the target’s Armor Class, increase the
number of times that you roll your weapon’s damage dice with
the Vital Strike, Improved Vital Strike, or Greater Vital Strike feats
by 1, up to a maximum number of additional rolls equal to your
weapon training bonus (minimum 1).
You cannot benefit from this feat while using any ability that
allows you to take multiple attacks at the end of a charge, such
as the pounce ability.
Combat Trick: Whenever you make a charge attack while
using Charging Momentum, you can spend up to 6 stamina
points. For every 2 stamina points you spend, your weapon
training bonus counts as being 1 higher for the purpose of
determining the maximum number of additional weapon
damage rolls that you can make with this feat.

I was in two Rajah/Radiant Dawn playtest oneshots that were run.

Highlights:
>Healing everywhere for days from Radiant Dawn
>Unseen servants have combat use! They can open doors. This is huge because of the default PF rule that opening a door is an entire move action.
>Sunstroke is the silliest 4th level boost with 2 essence invested, we were turning Argent King’s Scepter strike into a 10ft radius of 12d6+weapon damage from across entire rooms. At level 11 that's not too crazy but it's still the difference between hitting one person with a single target +12d6 strike and hitting three or four.
>QANON enjoyed the Specialist veil a lot and how she could finally be an Arcane Archer that worked how she liked

There's a ranger combat style that gives whirlwind attack at six and spring attack at ten, what's up with that?
>>
Why are guns so expensive? Also, should a pistol be more expensive than a two-handed equivalent?
>>
>>54438776
That does seem a bit backward doesn't it? Whirlwind seems like it would be more difficult than Spring Attack, and even has fewer prereqs.

>>54438820
Because Middle Ages equivalent memes and also because they hit at Touch which in 90% of the encounters you run into is massive.

Pistols should be more expensive because of the wheelock mechanism. A matchlock pistol is not practical.

I have to ask, is there a reason why you need at least a +1 on a weapon before you can add a weapon enhancement to it? Would it really be that broken? The fastest you can get a weapon enhancement is 8k(+1 and enhancement). But if you allowed it straight away you can get an enhancement at 2k. Besides the +1 costing enchantments that rely on +x enchantments to determine their ability, this should be fine right?

Our new currently unlabeled SCP, Resembles a small wooden chest adorned with a gold trim. It is to remain unopened unless permission is granted by the council.

However upon opening, The interior resembles a large maw, containing long rows of sharp teeth. Comparable to human cuspids. It also has a large tongue with which it can use to drag itself along the floor to "prey". It also uses it to feel around like an antennae.

It produces a sticky ichor that functions as a digestive acid. It's clear in color, but testing with gathered samples of the Ichor, has resulted in the decomposition of 1 steel gauntlet in 6 hours. The result from the test left a small silver coin in it's place. When the coin sat outside of the SCP, or the sample acid for an additional 6 hours. The coin returned to it's original form as a steel gauntlet.

These creatures are known to be created by the Sorcerer/Trickster known as [REDACTED]. As a side note, Mr. [REDACTED] is still missing as of today.

Prey consists of gold/jewelry/etc. However after extended testing. It will consume whatever is in front of it, after being exposed to lack of "nutrition" for over 48 hours.

So far it has consumed, 1 large rabbit, a glass mug, a bucket full of sand, and 1 [REDACTED].

The items it consumed can be removed carefully when the creature is "asleep", or from reports from trusted outside sources. When the creature is killed. If the item has had time to digest, the coins are the output. (Even if coins were the input, the coins will have pictures of coins on them. Turning into the original coin after de-exposure.) Though if it has only been a short time after retrieval, the item can return mostly unscathed.

More accounts of this SCP have been reported. Coming in many different shapes, and sizes. They have resembled Crates, Pots, and in one report, a coffin.

So here is something that is common in my setting and how my players reacted:
>adepts, being an NPC class, are relatively common (make up 5% of the population)
>adepts have a more diverse spell list, but that's not important to this post
>familiars are an adept class feature
>familiars are therefore pretty common
>because familiars are intelligent and can transfer information to their users they make very good eavesdroppers
>thieves, mercenaries, soldiers, and other professions who work in less scrupulous circles often develop the habit of killing small animals
>you have no way of knowing if that pigeon is a familiar, so you grab and snap its neck just in case (most familiars need to get back to their owner to pass off the info)
>if you find dead small animals you know secret meets took place
>dead small animals will littler military camps (ones that aren't eaten)
>players know this indirectly through a companion of theirs with the habit (it was explained in character)
>one of the PCs uses his familiar (a raven) to try and eavesdrop
>the second the gangsters see a raven one of them throws a stone at it (has throw anything and deadly aim, ends up putting the raven unconscious)
>they kill the raven just in case
>player is extremely angry and blames the setting for being unrealistic
>>
>>54439597
So this information of the area and culture was given ahead of time. The player then decided to push his luck and do the thing that npcs actively look out for.

Well that is the players fault. At least he can still replace the familiar at a cost.
>>
>>54439597
Well, ensuring that familiars are killed on sight might be realistic, but it's a dick move unless you told your player's so. If you told your player's so, then they're idiots for taking a class with a familiar in your game.

That's pretty much on par with "you start off with nothing, but why are there so many druids, monks, and sorcerers in my game?"
>>
I don't understand Piercing Thunder at all.
>>
>>54439647
Well from what I read of the post, they do not actively go after all familiars. It is just that because there in the presence of familiars all the time, they are paranoid of all small creatures. Better safe than sorry.
>>

Alright, looks like the Soulforger will have its official release...tomorrow. I'm going to do all the final prettying up on wordings for Smith and Truth aspect before leaving it today, so I can dedicate tomorrow to pure formatting and finding some place to upload it.

It's probably not gonna look very good, because at this point I just want to get it done. I apologize beforehand in case any of you get eye cancer.
>>
>>54439689
It doesn't matter if it's "actively going after familiars at all times". it's declaring open season on familiars and effectively the same thing. You can't not expect a familiar to die in that scenario.
>>
>>54439829
You can expect people to try and kill your familiar if you just let it go and send it to do things. If you know people kill small animals for fear of eavesdroppers don't use your small animal as an eavesdropper.

I mean it's literally being told it'll happen then getting angry when it does.
>>
>tfw no new Iron Gods reviews tonight
>>
>country players are in have high level people as part of law enforcement
>players get angry when special investigators and task forces are as good or better fighters than they are
It's funny, especially when a wizard learns that he's up against a counter spelling specialist and he gets to be a fancy commoner the rest of the encounter.

Piercing thunder is neat. You can lower armor penalties so you can do stuff faster/better (like jumping). As long as you're in a piercing thunder stance you can retrieve unattended weapons that you come nearby in your turn as a free action (as long as they're within your reach at some point in time). You can do neat charging attacks, you can do neat throwing attacks, you can dual wield spears (that's always fun if you want to be RANSA from fate/zero). It's sort of somewhere between traditional military spearman, a final fantasy dragoon, a javelin thrower and a heroic spear user from nasuverse.

In particular the school works quite nicely with zweihander sentinel archetype warders.
