Power Word: Intrigue is ehh. I'm not liking that recruitment length, and the chargen seems really specific, but it's also more PRC friendly so there's that.

They're basically all the standard level 3, DSP+SoP+Jolly, Elephant in the Room feat tax chargen. so it's kinda meh.

Rinka has been said to be chuuni, and Cynn feels pretty over-the-top. The trap in Dominions personality was also pretty much "everybody loves her!" It's an exaggeration to say all the top apps, I'll admit. But the ones I read the most about are only really spoken of as cute and adorable.

I'm looking through Dominion apps and I'm trying to guess what the group will end up being. Now obviously I have my biases of not being into snakes or liking Luci's style of writing but I feel like right now there isn't a single killer app. Nobody has got a locked in spot for the game. Someone could EASILY swoop in last minute with a slightly above average app that fits tonaly with the game and get in.

Custom Scylla race. GM didn't realize how stupid they were, and allowed Psionics and PoW. 8 tentacles with grab and Steel Coils is a helluva drug. It's like you're writing the backstory in-character. Except the character is a genki girl though so it's like half the punctuation is exclamation points. Also it seems like there is a bunch of extraneous fluff which is just quips commentating on every detail. The actual meaningful stuff that is relevant to the game could be summed up in a couple paragraphs.

That is just my personal opinion though, I have absolutely no idea how changing would impact your chances of getting in. Crab might not be bothered by it at all and may appreciate all the little fluff and in the end his opinion is the one that matters.

I played it not lewd, though, so probably not as amazing. I was there only one playing a Scylla, so I was swamped in people wanting ERP, which was unfortunate because I don't find ERP all that engaging. I become more sensitive to poor spelling and grammar, and the writing gets a bit too formulaic. I only do it when I'm drinking, and I don't drink often because it doesn't go well with antidepressants. Sorry to disappoint.

I might be going against the grain here, but AP's are fine to start at level 1. They very rarely have the kind of enemies that PFG constantly screams about (power attacking orcs with falchions), and not only are the challenges pretty easy to overcome, thematically they are made for level 1's. Even if you scale the encounters up, many of the challenges are very mundane.

I've been running a Paizo AP with a party that I started at level three. Depending on how lazy or not lazy I am, I either add more monsters, repeatedly throw simple templates on monsters, give things PC levels, or redesign the encounter outright with new monsters.

I'll go further to suggest you should try to actually find some friendly people and not run an app shit show. Especially if it's your first time DM'ing. I'm in some PFG games and some of the people who put together good apps are very combative as players.

A few questions for you /pgg/

I'm thinking of homebrewing some races for starfinder and I would like to ask about potential ideas on how to make them fit in.

First idea is a race of bird people who have an affinity for fire elementals and are potentially descended from the Pheonix but in general have affinity with fire elementals that live on the sun.

In past threads there has been expressed an interest in a more machine like race aside from Androids and since there hasn't been a whole lot of fluff yet dropped about Aballon I was thinking of having a splinter race that has decided to try and venture out to try and either become more like the First Ones or even try and surpass them.

Finally, would dragons of any flavor besides the very particular ones travel outside of golarion? I'm thinking of have a dragonborn type race made by injecting the cloned cells of dragons into people and having them isolated Dr. Monraue style before they come back into the picture.

What things need to be covered when homebrewing for a Starfinder setting? Things like how you need to cover Cleric domains in Pathfinder.

Siegebreaker Fighter 2/Elemental Ascetic Kineticist 5/MoMS Monk 2 with Bulette Charge Style, Dragon Style and heavy armor.

Fledgling Gm here looking for some advice.

I am trying to add a in a character back story based side-quest in between parts 2 and 3 of Rise of the Runelords.

My player's character is a kitsune ninja being hunted my his clan, after they killed his immediate family for his mistake (very dishonorable).

I am planning at coming at the parting with a smattering of quickly built kitsunes (mostly rogues and magic types), while trying to lead them into traps. They will finally fight the leader of the strike force, kill them, and move on.

Any ideas on how to spice things up without turning it into a long distraction from the adventure path?

It was quite a ways back. The ability at 9th level to bring something into your singed dimension with Swallow Whole combined with the Projectile Puke appetite you can the at 10th or retrain with GM permission at 9th is ridiculous. If you spit out any object that is considered dangerous, like hunks of metal or rock, it does 1d6 per 25 pounds of the substance. Metals and rock are generally heavier than people, so assuming max weight for a creature of the PC's size, you can get a shitton of damage. The example I gave was minmaxed for this. A Half-Giant under three effects of Enlarge Person. That's considered Huge size. Minimum Huge weight is 2 tons. 4000/25. 160d6. But metal and rock are denser than that, so your damage on the attack would be higher.

The only problem would be accuracy, since it's a ranged attack with no modifiers from magic items. True Strike would help with this, though.

Every 3 levels past 9, the size you can swallow increases. Gargantuan minimum weight is 16 tons. 1280d6. Remember, that's minimum weight for a creature, not for stone or steel of equivalent size. Half-Giant Enlarged at level 12.

At 15, this character can swallow Colossal things. At this point, you may want to introduce more size categories, as anything Colossal is fair game. Without a higher category, planets become targets. No sane GM would allow that, though.

So I was putzing around looking through guides, and a fighter guide brought to my attention something odd about Bladed Brush. Apparently people have argued that, since there's nothing specifically preventing it in the wording and you're only considered one-handing it to qualify for feats that specifically require you to do so, Bladed Brush and Slashing Grace result in 1.5x dex to damage. Using 1pp material, is there any way to get dex to damage on a cane sword? The only piercing option I can seem to find is fencing grace for rapiers. A cane sword would really fit thematically with my new investigator I am trying to build. If need be I will default to rapiers and fencing grace and use a combat scabbard and try and refluff it. Or try and ask my gm to homebre fencing grace to work with cane swords. I mean it should not be that broken seeing that stat wise the rapier is better than a cane sword.

I just really like the thought of a Slayer//Investigator, some guy who studies his opponents and tries to get the first strike on them.
