Back in the 2000's, it seemed like a bunch of tabletop RPG's had these 'mass' adaptations for the Internet, where you would get your character approved by a Storyteller or mod or whatever. Once there, you'd have more-or-less freeform social interaction RP with the other players, and every now and then the mods would come on to run a 'scene' where real moves can be made.
The structure was supposed to be like talk talk talk action, talk talk talk action, ad infinitum. World of Darkness had these games pop up and disappear almost constantly. But now I don't see them as much.
What happened? I know Wanton Wicked is still up, but what about the rest of them? What happened? What was the appeal, and why hasn't it kept up? Or am I just out of touch?
