Advice for finding a new army to replace my Renegades? After so many losses at my store I really feel like I got cheated for buying into a new army for the new edition. Problem I'm having is I don't want to do Marines, but if I'm not it'll be at least another year before I get a codex of any sort.
Thinking Necrons or Thousand Sons.
>>
>>54361927
Something i don't get is if Primaris are so kitted out how are other factions suppose to stand a chance?
Logically we are going to have to see more powerful units for the other factions.

OLD MARINELETS MODELS AS STATUE HAHA WHEN WILL THEY LEARN
>>
>>54361991
The way I figure it is pure primaris armies are a very elite with a tiny modelcount in an edition that seems to favor mass bodies so it sort of balances out.
>>
>>54362015

Having obsec on marine troops will really help primaris and justify intercessors.

Can the Yncarne charge on the turn it arrived using Soulburst?
>>
>>54361991
Considering how lackluster the primaris rules are it is them that need more of an advantage against other armies. Maybe that is also why the marine codex is coming out so fast, if we see some blatant powercreep we'll know why.
>>
So are there any scans/leaks of this Space Marine codex that people keep talking about? Or is it all just ass-talking?

Transition your army to Chaos. Renegades are still pretty good as assistants to Chaos. You can budget something like 450 points for a Vindicator+12 characters and summon an entire 1500 point army on t1.

How do restrictions interact? Special rule says Yncarne can't charge the turn it deep strikes, faction rule says it can with soulburst?
>>
>>54362323
Yes. There is still moisture in the atmosphere that rusts. Oxidation of elemental iron into rust is one of the most exothermic and low activation energy (and therefore favored) reactions in chemistry.

However the wrecks are basically preserved albeit rusty. Look at photos of the valley of tears in Golan Heights, the Sinai wrecks from the Yom Kippur and six day war and even stuff in El alamein. There are also some notable aircraft wrecks in North Africa from the second world War.

So Played 40k today ? Using a weirdboy with 2 30 squad boys and one 20 squad boys with shootas

Thing is i played this guy who always list builds exactly to counter you.

so he feilds two whirlwinds and a flying landraider , Im like what ever im going to just play it.

i da jump one squad of third, and fail the charge role and reroll to assult the whirlwind, the squad gets deleted off the map but uses up both whirlwinds and flying landraider thingys shooting

Next turn i da jump nobs, 3 pks and one big choppa, the whrilwinds over watch takes out the choopa and wounds one pk, my pks bring it down to one wound left.

Other squad of thirty gets massivly hurt like 2 guys left

next trun i da jump my allys squad of plauge marines (it was a 2v2 casual deal) (astartis and IG vs orks and death gaurd)

because screw the rules we are losing
they actually stick around for awhile cause super toughness.

but his artlierly dosent care that my shootaboys are in a building and cant be seen, they bomb them and take out half, then i lose 3 more to moral.

next i da jump them in but they fail to get the charge off on the weakened whirlwind, and get deleted.

What should i have done. How do ya play DA jump lists.
>>
>>54362341

Looking for general DEldar tips.

How do you guys equip your Scourges? Your Trueborn? (Blasters on everything?) Are Heat Lances ever worth it or should I just say that my Heat Lances are all counts-as Blasters now? lel

Is it just me or are Hellions and Mandrakes finally good? I'm at least buying some Mandrakes either way since they look cool as fuck (the only reason I didn't pick them up before just to paint is that I'm poor).

Raiders with shock prows double as arrows. Has anyone tried this?

Are the Court of the Archon units any good in practice? How are the Talos and Chronos these days?

etc.
>>

No, it just says you can charge. Why wouldn't it override yncarne's rule?
>>
>>54362365

>>

>>
>>54362365
Didn't head of weirdboy bang while you are using da jump 4 times?
>>
>>54362365
You used da jump in the worst way possible lol. It is terrible if you just use it to feed one of your units to your opponent each turn, because most or an entire army will always win against any single unit of Orks.
What you should have done is advance all your Orks foward and use Da Jump to get a unit on a flank or even behind the enemy when most of your units can charge. It should be used to more effectively overwhelm the enemy, not chuck units at them one at a time.

I saw Robute Guiliman at a Library on Terra yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my reading, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to checkout for my books up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Codex Astartes in his hands without registering.
The Soritas at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the books and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any heretical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each book and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

- Anonymous Astartes

Get one or more Javelin Attack Speeders to go alongside your Ravenwing. It already has a -1 to hit modifier against things that shoot at it from more than 8'' away If you also have a Darkshroud near it becomes a -2 already, meaning Ork's can't hit it with ranged weapons at all.

Use scouts or tacticals and daisy chain them out to force him to deep strike 9 inches away from them. Bubble wrap your important units with terminators as honor guard, or keep them in reserve and use them to counter deep strike him.

Drop the heavy bolters too, no reason to not use missile launchers since they kill pretty much anything with frag missiles for hordes or krak for big ones.

Git gud.

I've posted this army a few times here, this pic has some of the units in it, but I basically did the entire thing over the course of a few weeks. Entire painting time would have been just a few hours. Easily less than a day's work if you did it all at once.

Seriously don't like the look of the launchers on those Not! Terminators and the fist gun thing looks stupid as well, would have preferred the gun mounted on the palm side or the back side, not on the edge.

Jetpack troopers still look stupid and wtf are those helmets I'm looking at?

At least the characters look cool. Except now primaris have more believable proportions while Guilliman still has that bulky action figure look.

Really? I'm not too impressed with the missile launcher because of it's price. Yeah I lose out against monster killing but it seems like it'll outdo missiles for anti-infantry for less than half the cost.

Not according to the fluff. In Dark Imperium the Primaris Captain Felix says he wishes he had Devestators due to their heavy fire-power. Anyone changing Chapters in 8th Edition?

I used to play Blood Angels but going forward all of my primaris marines will be Ultras. Robby G is just too good - both for what he does solo and for what he does for the rest of the Ultramarines.

I really wanted to hate them but I guess I've gotten past that lately.

The new chapter tactics make them even more thematic as they can retreat and light your ass up while they do it. I can see them being extremely difficult to pin down. The morale phase won't hurt as badly with an army wide +1 to leadership.

My first fieldable list for 8th ed after a hiatus since 5th, currently painting the models.

They're Dragon Warriors, traitor Salamanders, but they're fielded with Thousand Sons rules. The theme in general is lots of plasma and flamers, both of which seem very good in 8th. I'm trying to always field havocs or rubrics whenever possible, never stock CSM. Exalted Flamers are taken for anti-tank, Rubrics are for overwatch screening and general tankyness, plasma havocs are the main punch, chaos lord is there to give rerolls, Ahriman is mostly for warptime but the other powers are great too and not that much more points, the horrors are there for a free smite and claiming objectives. At 2000 points I'll fit in a squad of ~9 warp talons and a forgefiend.

Pls gif critique

Why though? I mean, it's well painted and put together, it's no minor amount of work. I guess it takes a pretty realistic element of war and puts it in a game that has always been very tongue in cheek and over the top, but why? If it's a joke, the punchline is "the rape her". Which I wouldn't normally see anything odd about, except I normally assume these dioramas are entered into public contests. There has to be an interesting story behind this.

Well the Haruspex is T8 which is one of the models brought up, you'll be wounding it on 5s and 6s so you won't get many wounds.

Swarmlord only has a 5++ so a lascannon is more than likely to punch through it and can do nice damage to it.

Just know all the Tyranid big bugs are T6 so you're wounding on 4s and 5s with all that dakka.

>How do you guys equip your Scourges? Your Trueborn?
Scourges I'm going to try running with Shardcarbines for cheap, fast moving units that can deep strike and put out a reasonable number of dice for their cost, or Dark Lances with the plan of setting up shop somewhere safe and plinking away at vehicles. Can always reposition if necessary, -1 to hit for one turn isn't the end of the world.

Trueborn are my blasterboys, with some splinter cannons mixed in.

>Are the Court of the Archon units any good in practice?

Sslyth look pretty good on paper despite their cost, and can shoot and melee pretty well. I kind of wish the Archon was a little better to make them more worthy bodyguards, when in a lot of ways they outclass him. Medusae are pretty shoot, especially with the Archon giving them a reroll to hit, but they're very short ranged, especially as so many other things in your army have an 18in sweet spot.

Ask me again in a couple of weeks though and I'll see how this works in practice

Sacrificing all your CP and your strategem slot every turn to gain a formation bonus back is fine to me. It's not like you can put "free wargear" or "free transports" as strategems.

Huh, that's not how I read it; I read it as factions will provide a series of stratagems that could be used to benefit specific units, as opposed to the taking of the units being what provides the stratagems. The difference between the two is if the unit-taking is the condition, then that could lead to the restrictive formations.

Regardless of which of these is the case, this is definitely one of those places where faction-specific rules could lead to wild imbalances if not handled very very carefully.

Post-Scouring Codex would be Thousand Sons.

Pre-Civil War would be Codex dependent, with different commanders emphasizing different strategies of various famous chapters. This explains the differences between then Captain Angelos, whose tactics somewhat resemble Salamanders, Captain Thule, who waged traditional Astartes warfare, Captain Boreale, who lived and died by STEEL REHN, and then Captain Diomedes, who commands his forces similar to Raven Guard maybe.

Post-Civil War would be Codex-loyal, especially since DoW 3 most likely takes place after Guilliman's return, with an emphasis on drop pods and thunderhawks being the primary modes of transportation into hot zones.

Pretty much. Don't be surprised if they have a little something special for Land Speeders, though.

>Librarians are supposedly common, but rarely show up without devoting themselves to Khorne
7/10 of the Chapter was more or less decimated, and its pretty safe to say whoever was on Kyras' battle barge at the time of the civil war sided with him - which basically means almost the entirety of the chapter librarius. We can safely assume Angelos did away with the psyker-heavy aspects of the chapter during the internal scouring.

But on top of that, he lets all ultra units( including himself) re-roll all failed hits and wounds within 6 inches. He can do mortal wounds with his sword and gives you 3 command points if he is your warlord. Imperial units within 12 inches can re-roll ones, reroll leadership, and get +1 to charges and advances. All for only 350 points.

thinned out brown (forgot wich)
rikeland flesh for the skin
mixed red/blue for my own purple for tentacles/pox and bruises ..
(this was too dark so i drybrushed some palid flesh next)
weapon with leadbelcher
washed with agrax earth shade

right set:

skull wthie
plaid flesh on skin
caliban green thinned out heavily on cloth
leadbelcher on weapons.
same mix as before for tentacles/postules/bruises red/blue
aggrax earthshade wash at the end.

i'll go back and hit the weapons with a lighter silver and maybe a little drybrushing of plaid flesh on dark areas?

>> Mfw I made a wet palette 2 years ago

I bought a wet palette for $10 because I was lazy. Paints lasted for 2 months due to the special paper they supplied and a sealed lid.
>>

How damp does the palette have to be and is there a minimum to how much paint you have to put on it?

I tried making one and it ate my runefang steel.

>>
>>54362544
Raptors work exceptionally well with a lord for plasma vomit.

Bikes are mobile special weapons platforms only.

Princes need support, but hit hard.

Noise marines are the same but better.

Lucius is okay. Duelist only.

Everything else, read 1d4
>>
>>54364223
I think one leviathan is enough. Because whenever I tell people that I want to get 6 for apocalypse games, the only response I ever get is "Oh my god", followed by a few minutes of stunned silence.

>>54364241
>>54364242
My wet palette is just ordinary parchment paper, paper towels to absorb water, and a small tupperware bin. The most expensive thing there is the tupperware bin, and you can re-use the paper towels. The only reason my paint doesn't last longer is because the lids for my tupperware are all missing.

I generally put two layers of paper underneath it, and add water until there is a thin film of water on top. The parchment goes bad if left damp for awhile in open air, so I replace the parchment every day. Again, that's still not very expensive because I bought my roll for 2$ at a publix, and I still have that original roll(only about 25% of it's left).

In fact, that's Admech's only real answer to a lot of things.

Doesn't help that all the Guillimen at my LGS are primed or unpainted, too. Not even subtly or creatively overpowered, they just kept slapping on abilities and toughness and then set his wound count at exactly the limit to make him immune to targeting. They all pretend they're somehow tactical gods for just sticking him in their army list and running forward, too. If this is the base for Primarchs I am going to be a tad salty at GW for handing half the armies in the game a character that singlehandedly takes them up a tier or two.

not that anon but I've reported my closest gw but the response was the manager can ban fw if they want to, now I go to a slightly further one instead.
btw the reason it was banned (during 7th) was that some anon was bringing 3 levi dreads to each game in a store where wraithknight spam, parking lot guard and gladius spam was the regular. Manager has severe autism and should fucking die.
I went back to the store to take a look at buying paints since I was running low and as soon as I walked in I was asked why I haven't been there in a while, told him I play Elysians now and I couldn't play if I went into his store and I got a nice cold shoulder and silent treatment from him. this is the logic the managers here have, also, the chinacast problem here is the worst in the world, we have the most chinacast for a western country as a percentage globally so I guess that could be a problem but it's not mine
With these latest FW indexes i'm not giving FW a cent until they learn to write fucking a fucking book

pretty sure under same manager, managers don't change up too often here

GW is retarded having one man stores. A store should be 2 man. Having to lock up the store and kick people out cause you need to stock check or have a piss is fucking retarded. Who are GW greenlighted this shit?

What do you guys think about mixed IG Heavy Weapons Squads?

I'm thinking since split-fire is a thing now, if I have HWS with lascannons or autocannons, it might make sense to stick at least one heavy bolter or mortar to absorb wounds.

Good or bad idea?
>>
>>54364879
>>54364869
bruh I had a store down at a shopping centre, had 5 tables, hobby area for 8 people and 2 display tables with 3 employees, was fucking lit and I used to play BFG for hours down there, then BFG got cucked, 2 of the staff fire and the store moved out of the shopping centre to a literal shoebox that fits 1 6x4 table or 2 4x4 tables, 4-6 people hobby area and a 4x4 table with 2 display games taking up 2x1 each

Drybuilt my two Corvus Blackstars. Gotta clean and paint them up so I can annoy my opponents.
>>
>>54364889

Bad idea. Position is key for heavy Weapons.
Mortar teams should stay entirely out of sight.
Heavy Bolter teams should be looking down choke points to knock down infantry moving between terrain.
Lascannon / rocket launcher teams should be deployed with line of sight to wide areas in your opponents deployment zone, where vehicles are likely to deploy.
>>
>>54364897
I have considered turning my DWOK squad into a whole force with at least one of those. I assume they fuck people up pretty hard.
>>

>>
>>54364879
>>54364891
Pretty sure the one man stores are a new initiative. They advertise in White Dwarf. I'd do it if there was another guy/gal with me. My town could use a GW. My local one, in Oxford (UK) used to have 2 or 3 people in it. Not very big. Think it's only 2 now. Might be 1. I think it's retarded.
>>
>>54364907
Not mixing weapons, but instead of like, a lascannon squad having 3 lascannons, it has 2 lascannons and a mortar. It's still placed and acts like an all-lascannon squad, but the mortar can do something else.
>>
>>54364866
Do you know much about the local scene? from sydney also and looking to play a bit more competitively but from what ive seen a lot of tournaments are in wollongong or some bullshit
>>
What would belong in a mostly fluffy Crimson Fists list besides Sternguard? Pretty much anything, right?
>>
>>54364929
For what purpose
>>
>>54364883
ah well, you gonna call and check up to see if they really ban FW or going to go there in person (your use of the word "gah" and "bloody" in the same sentence has led me to believe you may be from Straya, though your lack of the work "cunt" has left a spectre of doubt, cunt)
>>54364934
I have not played a single tournament that wasn't organised in store so I wouldn't know, also I'm completely busy till december so I don't even think I'll get a game in before then at this rate, still, at hurstville FW is allowed if that matters, I don't know shit about wollongong
>>
I think Infernus should have a 24" range desu.

Chemical or Flame? Chemical can't hurt tanks very often, but 2+ wound on anything means melting blobs. Though S7 flame will do that anyway and does 2D.
>>
>>54364942
To save points, it seems
>>54364889
Exactly how much are you saving by not taking the extra lascannon? And if no one shoots your lascannons, is the mortar still being useful?
>>
>>54364928
Pretty sure you're wrong. When my local GW moved out of the shopping centre years ago it changed to a one man store.
>>
>>54364929

Any amount of dedicated firepower can put out more than 2 wounds against toughness 3.
Out-ranging your opponent is how HWSs survive.
>>
>>54364950
>ah well, you gonna call and check up to see if they really ban FW
That was the plan, was going to remind them that GW and FW assured players that they'd be able to use all their models in 8th edition as well
>>
>>54364956
Hmm. Dunno then. All I know is I think the advertisement now is for 1 man stores. Which is insanity imo.
>>
Help me out here, guys.

When a monolith drops in from high orbit, can it teleport in one of the units it was put in reserves with, or does it have to wait a turn?
>>
>>54364973
I haven't been in there since 8th dropped, might have changed since then, though I doubt it. When I called up gw australia they said it was alright during 7th. I'm still not going to the store until the manager changes regardless, hurstville guy is a bro, so I'm going to go there until the guy at miranda fucks off
>>
>>54364920
...I hate that I want to do this now...
>>
>>54364984
You cannot. It drops in at the end of a movement phase, while the Eternity Gate ability happens before you move.
>>
>>54364955
Not really saving points.

Like if I were taking:
3 mortars
3 lascannons
3 lascannons
3 lascannons

Instead, I take
2 lascannons, 1 mortar
2 lascannons, 1 mortar
2 lascannons, 1 mortar
2 lascannons, 1 mortar

The mortars still shoot at where they were going to shoot in the first place if they were taken in an all-mortar squad.
>>
>>54364991
fair nuff,
Seem a bit silly though, they've got poster for a Badab campaign event on their Facebook page (granted it's from march last year) with a bunch of pictures of Forgeworld stuff. Dunno why you'd do that and then tell people they can't use them

Back in 4th it was Infiltrate and Extra CC attacks, plus the fluff bits about Librarians. I always ran them like the others mentioned. No bikes, Librarian for HQ. Back in the day I'd use Sternguard as Deathwatch (pre-codex) and some of my Thousand Sons as Legion of the Damned for flavor.

Of course, I'm interested to see if the rumors of Forgeworld giving them some love turn out to be true. At the very least a transfer sheet because making my own is a bitch.

The current stratagem for rerolls only lets you reroll your own die, unless I misunderstood what you are referring to.

a dice roll made by my opponent?

Spray white, sepia wash, with repeat washes in the areas where it's really dark.

Maybe yellow wash over white, then sepia as above.

Rumours have long stated a new Abaddon figure. There was a rumour he makes it to Terra and has his head blown off by Cypher to prove his loyalty. That's where the rumour ends.

If that did happen they could have Abaddon get sent to the warp and the Chaos Gods could mould him with their memory remnants of Horus and spit out Abaddon in a new super bigger than Primaris size model?

if he makes it to Terra it also allows Dante to die protecting the Emperor and thus either get a new Primaris Dante or a Primaris CM for BA.
