Favorite artist: Rebecca Guay
Most Underrated piece: probably Kaysa. She's got a lot of "random wistful chick" pieces but Kaysa has, to me at least, always had a little more emotion and mystery than most of the examples of that particular composition she does so well. In fact, I find myself really enjoying her Alliances through Exodus work better than her later stuff, though she still had really good work like Promo Path and the sadly-unplayable-anywhere FTV Channel.

Ignore that shithead imo. Ring is fine enough if you can recur it, like you said. And how many tutors do people actually get out of a planar portal before it gets? At least this one saves you a mana on cost and activation.

Is it amazing? No. There's better tutors. But for a budget deck or lower-power meta, definitely alright. I usually have one out by turn 3 in my shitty kozi deck and get good mileage out of it.

Planar portal used to be one of three cards that went into every deck I built (only one, Sol Ring, still does). While I've since left it behind, it's a fairly comparable card to Ro3W so let's compare them shall we

Ring, compared to portal
+ 1 mana cheaper to cast
+ 1 mana cheaper to activate
- Limited uses
- Can't go infinite with it as easily

If you see yourself sacrificing and recurring it, or tutoring 3 or fewer times for the whole game, the ring is better. If you're doing some Paradox Engine insanity or don't have a combo and want it just to emergency fish for answers, you want Portal.

There are better options, but few nearly so versatile on a budget.

Well, this stops the end-of-turn exile trigger, although it doesn't stop creatures from being exiled if they leave the battlefield. Exiling cards from your deck doesn't have to be bad if you do it to clinch a win.

You're not retarded, it's a silly and old mechanic. Nothing to do with exile or zones of play, you literally just treat the cards as though they don't exist. Phased-out permanents phase in at the beginning of the next untap step, and permanents with phasing phase out. It doesn't trigger any ETB effects.

Phased Out/Phased In is a status like tapped/untapped.

On a player's untap step, before untapping permanents, phased-out permanents they control phase in. Simultaneously, anything they have with phasing that's phased in phases out.

When a permanent phases out, anything attached to it phases out "indirectly" (so auras and equipment don't fall off) Something phased out indirectly only phases in with whatever it was attached to

If a token phases out, it ceases to exist. (with the above, anything attached to a token when the token phases out NEVER COMES BACK)

While a permanent is phased out, it's treated as though it doesn't exist. Just ignore it for everything.

ETB draw on aura/equip/vehicle wouldn't be nearly as broken. Puresteel + baby's sage's reverie isn't a game ender.

Your argument hinges on the relevance of 0 drop equipment and ignores the multitiude of cards in white that recurr/bounce artifacts&enchantments that are actually worth playing for very little added effort. Suntitan is already staple, now he cantrips on etb and attack. Replenish/open the vaults now also replenishes your hand. Starfield of nyx/skybind gives you repeatable draw out of your permanents. A cheesey and easily dismantled RW storm deck isnt convincing enough.

Is it worth swapping him as the commander of my Kaervek deck? Well, Tower of Fortunes is the only usable one, but there's way better options, and the only way I would imagine that this would be useful if you have Rings of Brighthearth or similar on the battlefield to get more bang for your mana. Even then, almost every colour still has better options. I'd run Seer's Sundial or Mind's Eye in most cases over this or even fucking Staff of Nin.

Is Circu different enough from standard dimir mill to be good/fun? His ability isn't big enough to provide any helpful dent in your opponents libraries, and while also not terribly effective in a singleton format, lends itself towards a lantern control/stax feel. I tried the defender route on my Doran build but it was lacking. I actually didn't know about Gargoyle but even three payoff cards don't make it worthwhile, especially since Rolling Stones only hits some of them

I built mine with lots of color fixing, lots of 1-2 drop 0/4s (as a result white is my main color) and those cheap shield equipment, so you should be able to do 4-8 damage on turn 3 consistently.

Winning usually comes down to attacking all and casting Shape the Sands/Tower Defense/Bar the Door. I haven't built it but Daru Specialist+Greaves = gg

Ancient Tomb's a waste because it doesn't get you to casting Doran any faster. I'd be more concerned about fixing to get consistent T3 Doran than anything else

It seems like no one runs them but I like Recycle/Null Profusion. I like them better than lurking predators because I don't have more than the usual number of creatures and I'd rather have a combat trick than another creature lategame

A bunch of different ways. She is really the perfect Mardu Goodstuff commander. I went with a lot of pillow fort and removal. I also went with creatures that were indestructible or recovered from board wipes well. Stuffed my deck full of board wipes and targeted removal.

It pretty easy to go with tokens and saccing for value. Stax is also a thing and I've won quite a few games with voltron. I've even seen some one get super vorthos and make a deck that was all based on royalty running things like Advisor's, Royal Assasin, Dragon throne of tarkir. A girl in my play group made hers super politcal and all about voting and contolling votes.

Marduchesa is the best Mardu Commander and she can do anything you want her to.

Pretty much imagine what you would do as an evil queen and do it. I wanted to wall up, be queen and watch my enemies fight until I can wipe them out. That's what I did. And this is bar none my favorite deck. It was also my first built from scratch.

Edits i'm thinking of are removing most of the cabal coffers support but not really certain for what.

Dark Ascension wasn't opened a whole lot and he was the best card in it. Additionally, there was a meme deck using him in Modern for a while that caused a price hike he's never had any reason to drop from.

Here you go. Group has 6 people, I won all eight games we played including one where we had them dogpile me and used Archenemy. One game I even restrained my power level and avoided playing major things and actively discarded key cards waiting for them to play stuff before I did. Still won. The biggest things they bitch about are sac outlets and fog effects and counter. The deck has like 4 sac outlets, 3 fogs, and 1 counter. Please tell me I'm not crazy here, I feel like I would get BTFO if I went to any regular playgroup with this thing. My curve is all kinds of fucked and I made awkward card choices on purpose for the sake of flavor.

I don't think the deck is particularly good desu. It looks like the anon who made it kinda just slapped good cards together with no rhyme or reason. For instance, Lark and Hulk without their respective combos, Dawn//Dusk in a deck with mostly fatties.

On that topic, please WotC make Elementals one of the C17 tribes. I'd love to build around Horde or another Elemental, but I feel like they're right on the cusp of having the proper support.

So I've played a bunch of combo generals previously, and recently started playing a Karametra Enchantress deck and it made it remember that what I really love to do is spew non-creature permanents onto the board. I'm now looking to build a artifact deck. I've considered mono-red with Daretti as the general, though I'm looking for suggestions. If anyone has any other Generals (mono-red or not) that would make for an even more fun artifact deck or decklists to use as a base it would be greatly appreciated.

I actually think banning all infinite combos is a really bad call for a playgroup. Between that and banning MLD, your playgroup is really skewing the metagame towards the same old 3+ color ramp/fatty/value metagame. Don't get me wrong, there's some combos I intentionally don't use (0 basic hermit, food chain) but having your group nerf combo (and aggro MLD) archetypes that hard feels unhealthy.

How do I make a good BW deck? I've just kinda thrown one together, since mates are playing commander now. Not exactly sure what powerlevel they're playing at, but we've all generally been more kitchen table than competetive (except for one guy who I can beat anyway). I guess I'll find out when we meet up in a few days.

Go wide with a lot of tokens, and disposable creatures.
Recursion and sac outlets are plentiful, so you can really reuse a lot of ETB/LTB triggers.
Run Skullclamp, and multiple ways to search for it
Get a few boardwipes and spot removal that can target noncreatures too(like Utter End or Anguished Unmaking)

Well, after looking at your deck, yeah it isn't made for competitive where people spend as much money they like to make good and cohesive deck, but in casuals this would definitely buttfuck your buddies. Show them this YouTube channel and direct them to the "infinite for budget" playlist. It'll show them that everyone can have some sort of infinite combo in there deck for cheap and it might cause them to get better maybe. For my group of friends, we all tend to do some research because most of us want to win, but I can't say the same for your friends.

Dont make that meme please, edhrec gets its suggestions from popular cards on tapped out. Popular does not mean good. On any multi colour commander bounce lands are suggested lands usually above the original dual lands. Not to mention it will usually pull cards from multiple different archetypes and try and suggest them all for the same deck. I really thought that edhrec was unanimously known to be a guide and not actual decks.
