Basically it's the use of magic points/Utilizing magical skill and channeling them through a magical tradition to create an effect, and the use of magic generates burn (basically weaken the player). You can also use rituals that use magical energy in the environment to reduce the magic points required to create an effect.

The tl;dr is this: Shadowrun magic, but you can pull mojo from the air/reagants to avoid eating Drain. You keep your cool shit hidden (one off powers), but the basics are delineated enough that anyone in the know and with circuits can learn them (spell formulae)

The important thing to remember that is Nasuverse doesn't have a magic system.

It has a BUNCH of magic systems, all running concurrently. No single system will ever represent all of the shit that goes down in that setting, because two different mage families will have totally different kinds of magic, and shit like Servants don't follow any of those rules either.
