Having started running my mostly craftworld force as Ynnari, I'm going to say you're only half right.

3-4 man units of cannon bikes, 2 three man squads of dark reapers in the pack line. 2 5 man Howling banshee squads in a wave serpent.
I'm going to try out shinning spears soon too.

The ten man guardian squad hopping out of WS and getting 2 turns of shooting under guide, then probably dying because T3 5+.

I'm mainly running it because battle focus is now quite meh, but CW have been getting some pretty good bonuses from Ynnari, it's just not for heavy wraith lists.

Holy hell yes. Never paint directly onto plastic and most definitely don't count the plastic as a paint. The coats you apply directly over it have a bad habit of flaking off when you start dry-brushing.

They coloured them so that you can play straight out of the box. There's a bit of colour, which makes them look like models for a board game, but if you actually want to paint them, treat them like you would treat any other plastic.

Bah, it's not that good an effect. -1 To Hit means they sure as fuck won't be shooting overcharged Plasma at you so the scariest thing you can reasonably expect is Veterans with Combi-Flamers shooting, charging, punching, punching, falling back and shooting.

Having something putting up conceal is going to be huge deal for you. Without the -2 to hit those expensive guys are going to die fast. You're going to want a farseer and/or an autarch to let those prisms get the multiple hits.

You'll want something with more range, as 30" threat is nice but not enough to hit the vehicles.

Prism rifles do seem to make you want blasters from DE a little less.

If you want 10 man shadowspecter units, I'd say give them cheaper screens or something to trigger soulburst of if you're going ynnari.

ITC is a tournament community that tries to be important and succeeds among WAAC players. They made house rules for 6th and 7th edition and tried to pass them off as gods gift to 40k, when in reality all it did was make things more confusing.

There's some story (from BL so not canon :^)) of a Salamanders from 30k who couldn't be put in a Dreadnought in time due to a ship fight or something, so they put his wounded body in the control chair of a warship so he could help pilot the ship and stay alive, and then they just forgot about him and when the 40k Salamanders found the ship's drifting wreck, he was still alive 10,000 years later using that coma technique marines know, but he was fused to the chair and all shriveled. They just mercy killed him.

You can't take Combi-Weapon + Power Weapon on Sergeants, check the Sergeant Equipment list. Only HQs can do that.
Don't take a Plasma Pistol, take a Combi-Plasma instead.
Where's the normal Flamer in the Flamer squad?
Leave one of the Twin Lascannons out for now, they're expensive as fuck and you should still have enough anti-tank.
The pair of lightning claws looks like a great idea on the Sergeant, but they're too expensive. Save them for a Captain or something, who can use them better.
Finally, consider tweaking your list a bit. You now have 1 too few Troops for the Battalion detachment and 1 too few Elites for the 3 Elites detachment, so you're effectively throwing Command Points away.

Paint scheme, do the Glooming Lords (Black Armour, Metallic Green trim). Both easy as fuck to do and a stark contrast to all the drones who just copy the box art colour scheme.

List? Take 2 Easy to Build Plague Marines boxes, then add a Helbrute. Gives you 5 Plague Marines with 2 Blight Launchers, a big distraction that gives you fire support and a second Plague Champion to count as a Chaos Lord. There, legal army from which to build.

They are a melee unit that has to walk to battle and cannot take any transport of any sort that has no AP on their melee weapon. They're armed with bolt pistols so they can't shoot anything farther than a foot away, and they don't have any special rules like camo cloaks so not only are they walking into melee, they're walking into melee with a 3+ and a measly 2 wounds.

The only reason why Reivers won't be shot off the board is because they're such a shitty unit that shooting at them is a bad idea, as they'll just gum themselves up in your guardsmen and fail to accomplish anything.

Reivers are just another Primaris unit that nobody needed or wanted. They fill a non-existent niche.

I disagree. I think the restriction means you can't take a combiplasma and a combimelta on the same model (for example), not that if you take a combiweapon then that's your sergeant's one and only choice.

they aren't trash.
People say they are, but those are assholes who reduce everything to a simple "absolute best strat/utter trash" dicotomy, or who don't understand what basic marines are supposed to do.

They are supposed to be there, be tough, have decent enough shooting they can contribute, be able to add some specialized fire.

They are not specialized answers to problems presented by your opponents list, and they aren't supposed to be. But thinking that is the only thing something can contribute is reductivist to the point of blindness.

I think if that were true they wouldn't have made such a big deal out of Sergeants getting this specific, limited equipment list. I read it so that you can exchange both your weapons for stuff on the list and the Combi-Weapons cost you both items at once, so you're out of options then.

There's a second part about Nurgle daemons, mostly to illustrate that while Nurgle, GUOs, nurglings, etc. are often a lively and happy bunch, plaguebearers are as jolly as Nurgle's mortal followers, since they're made from mortals.

I mostly made these because there was a lot of talk about Nurgle and why would someone worship him, etc. So I felt like making an image or two of some snippets I've come across that gives some idea.

There is one about Khorne and how he's not entirely anti-sorcery. And I think there's one about Slaanesh and what empowers him, though I might have to see if I can find it. I'm not on my main computer, which houses all my material.

I don't read it like that. You can take two weapons from the list, but only one of them can be a two-handed weapon. All the items on that part of the list are two-handed weapons. I take as an anti-retardation measure, prventing someone from fielding two combi weapons at once.

The minis in the BA tactical squad kit are made so a Sergeant can be equipped with both a combi-weapon and a power weapon. They wouldn't write an Index in a way that contradicts their own minis.
>>
>>54341301
Yeah but, the rules don't say anything about it costing both options at once if you take a combi-weapon. We can't just come up with interpretations from what the rules don't actually say, that way lies madness.

>>54341092
It depends. Slaanesh units have a higher chance of getting the charge off first with their high movement. Also, fiends of slaanesh prevent the enemy from falling back, so that's awesome.

Pink horrors, while needed in their psychic ability, have a shooting attack now. So they have dakka in addition to durability.

Nurgle daemons aren't as hard to kill as they were in 7th, but you can still get some good combos off if you know where to ally.

Finally, Bloodletters will still outperform daemonettes in more scenarios. While daemonettes will take out more infantry over the course of continuous rounds, all Khorne daemons are fantastic if you can get that charge off, what with the bonus strength and attack. Bloodcrushers in particular are fucking scary.

I have fingers crossed that we'll be in the pre-christmas 10, due to the relative popularity of Tau, but we share an index with orks and nids which are probably higher-priority releases. We may end up being last in Xenos 2, or third if GSC get last, as a way of insuring the index remains useful as long as possible, like how some SM chapters aren't getting releases till the end of the cycle.

So either release in the next three months, or something like ten months from now.

I wish they'd just give us a hotfix faq that tweaked the point values enough to make crisis worth using.
>>
>>54341853
it's space fantasy.
It has daemons, heroes charging with shields and melee weapons, sorcerers, people being given supernatural abilities by faith, ancient gods, giant cathedrals.

It's past soft sci-fi. The sci-fi is just adding space based imagery and items to the fantasy.

So why exactly have I heard nobody talk about Scout Bikers yet ? Am I the only person that has/likes them and actually looked at their rules ni 8th edition ?

For 27 points, you get a scout with
>Two wounds
>Move value 16'' and always 6'' more when they advance
>An Astartes Shotgun, a Combat blade, a Twin Bolter, frag grenades, krak grenades, and a Bolt Pistol

With the new rules they can fire their shotguns alongside the bike's bolters, meaning each single scout biker fires six shots with str 4 at 12'', two of which become str 5 if you're firing at something at 6''
And then they also have combat blades, so strike just like assault marines in CC. Their only downside is a mere 4+ save, but they're so fast that it is not that problematic.

Is that really that bad for 27 points each ?

And there we have our first 4 codices.

When we move to Armageddon, where Orks, and Daemons, and Khorne are fighting. We'll see Codices Ork, Daemons, and World Eaters.

Astartes are functionally immortal, they just slow down at different rates, which is why Space Wolves (Logan is 800+) and Blood Angels (Dante is 1100+) tend to live longer than Ultramarines, they don't lose their edge and die as fast. To Ultramarines, 400 is considered "ancient".

Thousand Sons anon from the last thread back with one technical win and two losses. In a 2000pt tournament I didn't bring enough anti-tank and suffered for it, even though I kept two possible blowout losses pretty close. Seems like Thousand Sons do well in 1000pt games but suffer in big point games.
Sons vs Guard (2 baneblades) -tabled turn 4
Sons vs Orks (Squiggoth and 2 FW tanks)-lost
Sons vs Genestealer Nidswon because opponent left early. Any suggestions for surviving a WAAC environment without becoming WAAC?

They're not immortal in anyway. They can die of old age or through disease or violence.

Space Wolves aren't said to be longer lived. Logan may be old but that doesn't mean getting that old is a general rule. The Mortifactor Chapter Master is 800+ but is genetically an Ultramarine.

Their biological creation is the same, but there will be no Grey Knight Primaris Marines because they have a unique gene-seed that Cawl has not worked on.

Astartes assume they are, but are proven incorrect over the course of the series. At that point they had not been around long enough to test their longevity.

I think that nobody actually knows how old marines can really be, because they always die in war and never retire or something. numerous times in the fluff space marines are described as 'practically immortal, barring death from combat'

i always thought they lived somewhere in the ream of 500-200 years

>But we can do that, because the lowly dregs are the regular people and they can't extend their lives. If you count irregular people then you have to count the likes of Cawl who lived for 10,000+ years.
Cawl is certainly an exception, but when we look at the number of people who have acess to life extending tech, those being at the very least
>the entirety of the Inquistion
>the ecclesiarchy
>planetary nobility
>any upper level member of the IG
>the Officio Prefectus
>the scions
>assasins
>members of the ministorum
>rouge traders
>any relatively wealthy ganger
>the arbites
>the ad mech
We can easily see that, while it's not something the lowest of the low dregs have access to, life extension tech in 40k is certainly not as restricted as you make it out to be, and ignoring that fact makes you look retarded.

Then there's the issue that if we only consider the dregs like you do, then 116 is a ridiculous number because people die much much quicker in 40k.
You're either too low or too high.

The number of people who have access to that are next to nothing compared to regular humans.

It's not available to the majority of people, it's for the wealthy or well connected only.

We're not talking about the average but the maximal. The oldest man we know was 116, so from that we can say a man can live to be 116 while lacking any fancy future life extending treatments or augmentations.
That's how long regular people can live until we're told otherwise.

I want to start a BA army but all the successors are so cool so I was thinking of doing a mix BA with Flesh Tearers, Knights of Blood and Lamenters and maybe some Ultramarines primaris guys to be a defence of Ba'al force. Is it even worth doing any marines at this point or should I wait for primaris ba models.

most of the horus heresy books, in the opening chapters when it has to describe the difference between a space marine and a man. i cant source a particular example, but its a phrase used in practically every book
>>
>>54343602
The Horus Heresy is just Marines talking shit because they don't know better. in the HH series Marines get aged to death and Fabius says that they're not actually immortal.

They both look pretty kick-ass. :Love the mohawks.

Where'd those come from?
>>
>>54343689
During the horus heresy the oldest marine wouldnt be much more than 200 years. They never receive any further treatments to prevent aging and yet they dont age like a regular man, so there was no proof that they couldnt live extremely long lives barring ofcourse combat fatalities. In 40k, theres dante, who is 1000 and still looks like hes 30, and many traitors are still around from the heresy. In the night lords book, they say that for sevatar, only 700 or so years had passed since they attacked the palace, due to warp fuckery.
