My Dark Heresy group needs to be kicked in the dick a little. I specifically had their inquisitor rendered comatose at the begging of the campaign to limit the infinite powers of the inquisition. They're still whipping out their d̶i̶c̶k̶s̶ rosettes at every possible opportunity, complaining when this does not render their target into absolute compliance, and potentially makes people uncomfortable or angry. This to the degree of assuming that armed guards should not react to them striding out of a room full of corpses in a negative manner. So, what sort of consequences should parading around their inquisitorial status have? I've been pretty toothless the first two sessions, and I want them to feel powerless to a degree, they are not the inquisition, they are children playing inquisitor, and there are powers far bigger than them at play.

CULTS CULTS CULTS.
>>
Read DH2e.

They talk about this. Everyone will avoid them and assassins will try to kill them.
>>
If they're parading around causing trouble it's not unlikely that someone will decide that they need to be dealt with even if they're not necessarily cultists. There are merchant guilds and nobles who wouldn't appreciate some acolytes coming in and throwing their carefully balanced money mill into disarray. There are gangs that don't want the extra attention that these acolytes will bring into an area. Hell, even the local authorities might decide that they need to be controlled and have them brought in.

Acolytes shouldn't even have a rosette unless a member of the party is an Interrogator, or of a similarly high-rank.

Low-level DH PCs are basically random hangers-on and temp contractors for the Inquisition. Unless they're closely-tied and trusted by their inquisitor, it's basically entirely down to the PCs charisma on whether or not people take them seriously when they say "Magos Paulus, I'm Inquisition."

And yeah, as this anon >>54335210 said, if any enemies decide to take them seriously, it will just make the PCs lives that much harder.
>>
Think of what would happen if a group of publically outed cia agents in Iran went door to door demanding your submission.
>>

Probably shouldn't have Rosettes, they're not inquisitors. Have an actual inquisitor show up and detain them for a long time.

Also explaining to your group the difference between 'being able to do whatever you want' and 'other people doing what you want'.
>>
>>54335104
Your group sounds like a bunch of easy mode, lazy ass fags who aren't looking for a fun engaging challenge but instead want to fulfill their pathetic power fantasy. Consider dropping them
>>

If they're literally shouting about their affiliation with Inquisition sooner or later their enemies will learn about it. Possible enemies would become more subtle, distract acolytes from their goal by false leads, attract more potent allies to stop them, hell, even abandon their pursuits for some time for the sake of survival.
Limit assistance, provided to the acolytes by the local authorities, award less influence (should their command be displeased with such crude methods) or even Enemy talent, if they're bossing around those who they shouldn't, make other Inquisitors unsatisfied with their unprofessional approach, run someone who's power is far more greater then the acolytes', or those, who don't give a hell about rosettes, various xenos or plotters, only pretending to be the acolytes allies or even people who don't know about the Inquisition. Send them on the missions where they won't be able to fling rosettes left and right or instead give them what they want: let them have total control over the situation and make them realise all the responsibility and burden they volunteered to carry (this is very unlikely, but still)
>>
Have their Inquisitor wake up, hear about what they have been doing, tells them that they need to learn how to operate with subtlety, then confiscates their Rosette. Maybe relocate them to a planet where people haven't heard of them if he's feeling kind.

This seems pretty simple to me. There are hundreds of legitimate responses.

Personally: The next time they flash their dicks at someone with power, have him/her demand to speak to their inquisitor. When the person in power fines out that they're trying to throw the weight around of a guy who's literally in a coma, have him confiscate their rosettes, force-ably if necessary. If the inquisitor doesn't like it, he can take the matter up personally when he regains consciousness.

Whether or not the person in power is clean, or a heretic, the last thing they need is some half cocked loose canon jr. boyscouts running around.

If you really want to be a dick about it, have him imprision the characters. They're allowed to go free after kissing the hem of his robe, but he's still holding on to the rosettes.

>My Dark Heresy group needs to be kicked in the dick a little.

What you need it to give them rope so they hang themselves. You need some Fallen Inquisitor to show up, and kiss their ass, and ask these valiant heroes for help dealing with something. Something is obviously having them work for chaos, by killing or stealing something important.

Then when they done it, you bring down the real inquisition forces. =I= Stormtropers or some Space Marines that have come to see wtf has happened, completely piss over their rosette because THEY ARE THE ARM OF THE INQUISITION, and detain them and take their rosettes and gear.

Then give them the choice of redeeming themselves in a very demeaning and virtuous way (aka the opposite of power fantasy).
Or let them keep running their power fantasy as marked as chaos fallen cell.

The general idea is to be as insideous as you can with the previous Fallen inquisitor, in order for them to no suspect, and prey on their power fantasies to completely have them make an ass of themselves.

This, or play on the internsl rivalries within the Inquisition. Who's to say the Inquisitor's rivals won't exploit his henchmen to their advantage ... or use it as a means of embarrassment.
>>
>>54335104
Well obviously every time you flash out your badge, they're going to be escorted to the person in charge.
If they decide to be dicks about it and say "Fuck off, we're the inquisition, we don't have to comply to your wishes.",then what's going to end up happening is that the locals will try to kill them.
They are ultimately expendable to inquisitors.

You use the person in charge to try and push them towards a more sensible course of action, or you can just have them demand audience with the inquisitor.
If they decide to keep being dicks, the entire investigation can go to hell because they just couldn't help unzipping their dicks and the heretics start moving off world while they spend time arguing with the Planetary Governor about what the absolute fuck is going on and why aren't they letting you have an audience with the inquisitor even though you're supposedly conducting a public investigation.

Additionally, you can have another inquisitor from a different faction show up and arrest them due to the doubts of them being impostors, merely using the power of a comatose inquisitor for their own purposes.

After the dust has cleared on the entire case, the heretics are all gone and the mission has been failed.
>>
>>54341349
What I mean by the locals trying to kill them is that sometimes when a sufficiently troublesome inquisitorial representative shows up, they end up going missing in the warp.
>>
>>54335104
>So, what sort of consequences should parading around their inquisitorial status have?
They get attacked by hitmen from an opposing inquisition faction.
Repeatedly.
And the hitmen learn their tricks, then plan ahead to make them useless.
