A idol of Zeus or Thor grants one the power of lightning or other abilities depending on what part the idol is concentrated on.
However newer Idols can be made, A idol of the invisible man grants one the power of invisibility.
The idol of Dracula makes one a creature of the night.
Doesn't have to be real to have power.
