Does anybody play/have played deadlands(classic, not reloaded)?
Me and some co-workers just started a game of it and it seems pretty fun so far. We just had our first session which was mainly combat and I'm playing as a muckraker.

What is it?

About to have our first session on saturday. Anyone in your group play as a blessed? I have someone saying that it seems damn near impossible on paper but they haven't played it yet. How is it when it comes to casting spells?
Gunna bump with some weird west pics.

Only reload but from what I've gathered
basically the same only with streamlined rules to fit into the savage worlds system. Which isn't too different when you remember savage worlds itself was a revision to streamline the original rule set of dead lands. It's like the old school RPGs in general. Some stuff got simplified for the better some stuff got simplified for the worst.

Can you give some examples of what was made better and worse in your opinion?
Ran a pretty solid campaign of it and Hell on Earth back in the day. Always struck me as such a shame Lost Colony never really had any good material for it. I'd have loved to do the kind of 3-way crossover campaign that the setting is so clearly made for.

Blessed are fine. Not the flashiest casters, but they're the only ones for whom the cost of their abilities are upfront and straightforward. They can be quite restrictive, depending on what religion you take, but its a good roleplaying challenge.

I want to play it but combat initiative sounds like such a hassle.

Really? I like it, everybody is dealt in, aces high jokers wild. Seems pretty straightforward to me. I like it. Although I haven't played anything but 5th edition and that shitty fallout wastelands thing. So I'm in no place to talk.

My player is saying stuff about how he thinks it's unfair that if he rolls a 1 he loses his faith die. We are using the Stone and a hard place abridged rules, the ones where you can't go below a D4 on a crit fail and it's restored with a short rest of prayer.
I thought it was fair to begin with. Random acts of god would be rare and you would rely on your combat skills instead of going full spellcaster.
How did you guys use the fate chips? Were they in short supply?
