I want to add rewards in Call of Cthulhu, when someone solves

I want to add rewards in Call of Cthulhu, when someone solves a problem on their first guess, or at least accomplishes something in creative way i'll give them some sanity back.
Part to encourage them to think through the situation and part because this way I can punish them further with bigger sanity losses.

Is this a shit idea, or should I give it a try?

I like the idea, but you gotta present it in a good way. Don't just say "good job, here's some extra sanity", pitch as the player feeling so confident or relieved that they solved something without issue that it strengthens their resolve.
