My current character is in mutants and masterminds, and can make translucent temporary armor over anyone he chooses. For his super he just summons a giant glowing ghost knight around him.

I'd probably give him a defense based deck with lots of knights. Focus on stalling till the other person gets frustrated. i always wanted to see a deck based on almost pure defense. Probably exists, but i don't know of it.

Trump card would be his ultimate. 2300/3300 atk/def. Would raise the defense of all cards by 500, be immune to monster effects, and have to be destroyed before any other monster like ring of magnetism.

Yeah he may become a great rival, but if he truly becomes one he will no longer be human or anything even close to resembling one. At least mentally. My character was fighting against basically a group of avatars of order and consumerism who were trying to transform everyone and everything into their extensions one way or the other.

So the choice for Mr. Great Rival is pretty simple - stay true to himself and actually help my character in the long run or try to become the opposition and become a soulless husk forever bound to repeat the same actions.

Kaiba has an island with an academy to teach children's card games. Art is a means of communication.
Art that communicates (to its specific audience) well is better art than art that does not.

So when comparing music we have to look at the specific audiences they tend to target with their songs and whether they actually attract the audience that they are aiming for.

As an example, compare the genres of country music and classical music with respect to the specific area of sad songs.

While I personally like lots of country music and classical music often these genres suffer with effectively communicating to sad people.

Many classical pieces suffer from being far too long. This is objectively worse than being shorter because many audiences become bored with too long pieces and so the song does not reach as much of its target audience of sad people.

Two equally skilled musicians playing the same piece may do so with the same level of technical proficiency as the other, but it's all of the personal nuances that make the performance matter. And that's down to their own personal interpretations, with it not being necessarily the case that one is better than the other.

Also, you're so wrong about so many parts of what you said that it's painful. Genres don't necessarily create an end-all way of determining how effectively that you can communicate to your audience. Some of them are well-suited for some emotional concepts or subject matter because they were born from them; but within each genre is the potential to get across anything that you please, in your own way.

Additionally, your understanding of "classical" works is shallow, and doesn't consider how the genre continues to grow in the modern era.

So when Kaiba inevitably wins, my character's going to start howling about how he's ONE OF THEM, and probably working with Gannondorf, like the evil round-eared fuck he is.
