Horus feels bad and turns his legions amd the remaining loyalisy legions on the chaos gods. We'll call it the Horus Heresy Heresy. Of course some traitor legions would be too far gone so we can still have marine badguys.

Oh right, not everybody knows what the Cabal's prediction/plan involving the Alpha Legion was.
Basically, if Horus had killed the Emperor, then he would have been stricken with grief within a few generations, and wiped out the rest of Humanity, also dealing the deathblow to Chaos.
So what I meant was:
Alternate timeline 40k where both Humanity and Chaos ceased to exist sometime in M31-M32.

So the beast conquers the galaxy?
