Try to compare old SM to DW or BA terminators on the GW website - what I see are bulky and 'eavy termies for ba and da and slim and goofy looking termies with awkward poses. Chests seem smaller and pauldrons lower and less imposing. Heads are longer and skew the scale by giving the idea of them having a larger head than needed.
I'm wondering if it's just an effect due to the paint job.

If you're wanting an elite force feel, try the Elysian list from FW with Astra Militarum as filler. Do a Vanguard Detachment and a Supreme Command Detachment. Vanguard detachment can have a Tank Commander as the HQ. Run 3 Veteran Squads as Elysian Vets. That fills up the required for the Van. 2 Elysian COs and an Elysian Commssar for the LD bubble or another CO if you want more order flexibility. Supreme Command is filled. Then do what you like with the rest. One anon recommended taking a Command Squad or two as they make for great melticide squads. Up to you on 4 Meltas or 3 Meltas and Vox for order coverage.

Generally the inquisition is concerned with the spreading of knowledge of daemons, I guess of a small number of troops are exposed it's not too difficult to arrange a mindwipe. But a whole brigade would probably be looking at the gallows. Unless of course the Inquisition can find a better use for you.

Although Cadia is/was at war with chaos pretty much constantly so either there's a glaring plot hole or the battles in Cadia were largely daemon free (considering that Cadia's main export is guardsmen)

I play red hunters so this is my interpretation of it

They specifically say that *line* brothers are mind wiped regularly, which I've used to interpret that characters are not mind wiped and generally are trusted with the secrets of their chapter. Not unreasonable.

The individual line marines I imagine to be the more grim dark interpretation of how the average marines live: Just a constant routine of prayer, training and indoctrination with the added fact that they don't even get to remember most of it.

I imagine FW will come out with chapter tactics for them and the other Badab war chapters again and they'll be able to choose between a selection of bonuses in the same way as previously.

Space Wolves managed to beat an Inquisition fleet, the entire Red Hunters chapter, a whole Grey Knight Brotherhood and an entire sector battlefleet in one battle.
