What exactly is a "magefag" anyway? I've seen it used to label everything from people who admit mages are the strongest splat to total shitheads who make every discussion a powergaming contest.
>>
>>54225394
That's kind of WoD's playerbase as a whole desu.

We're at the point where Geist not being in the Pirate Era is a possibility. How do we fix this? http://theonyxpath.com/dark-eras-poll/

Look man, I threw in my vote with the never going to win crowd on a matter of principle. I want tomb ships plying the seas with cultist crews, chasing down relics and sundries on the seas and under them.

I have this beautiful vision of Mummy: The Pirate which will never see fruition
>>

Don't ask me, I just went and gave my vote to Mage.
Right now. From you providing the link.
Thanks, BTW.

Yeah, I really don't like changeling despite a friend of mine being a huge fan. Geist would give us rad spooky ghost pirate shit, and mage could probably make the whole 'mysterious island full of weird shit' trope jump to the forefront.

I still really wanted Mummy but I know in any vote that game is going to never, ever win unless it comes hitched to another gameline like how we had the Mutapa Mage/Mummy chapter in DEC.

Dark Eras I think.

How did they ruin the other systems with 2e? The only thing that really got worse to me was paradox in mage, they nerfed it way too hard. Everything else seemed pretty good in general.

Changeling is fantastic.
But:
1. 2e is worse than 1e by a significant margin, and we don't know how much of that bad shit is getting ditched with the old dev
2. It doesn't really fit as well as Geist, and Magefags gonna Mage
>>
>>54226450
>2e? The only thing that really got worse to me was paradox in mage

Paradox didn't really change all that much. It was never that hampering, and certainly not as bad as Ascension.

What did change, however, was the abominable vulgar and convert magic distinctions that lead to paradox that were never really consistent with the fluff and themes of power corrupting.
>>
>>54226491
Of course. An anon with an opinion counterpoint to your own -must- be a troll.
>>
>>54226450
Changeling devs on changeling 2e is how. Books that change midstream just don't come out well most of the time.
>>
>>54226495
>t doesn't really fit as well as Geist, and Magefags gonna Mage

The Golden Age of Piracy is actually referenced as a pivotal period in Mage history in the 2e corebook.
>>
>>54226495
What was shitty in the Changeling 2e playtest? I only ever looked at the Kith docs, so I never got into the rules or fluff as much as I could have.
>>
>>54226496
Unless I'm misreading your post, they got rid of vulgar vs covert in 2e, which would be a good thing by your description?

>>
>>54226523
>they got rid of vulgar vs covert in 2e, which would be a good thing by your description

So then what's the problem with 2e?
>>
>>54226514
I admit, i don't know all that much about mage, but doesn't Changeling and Geist fit better?
>>
>>54226525
Mostly familiar with CofD, how did it work in Ascension?
>>
>>54226570
It's too powerful compared to others. I'm a balance fag and I hate it.
>>
>>54226596
Mage 2e or 2e as a whole? Because if it's the latter, then that's a self-solving problem once everything gets updated.
>>
>>54226570
>So then what's the problem with 2e?

You might be confusing me with another Anon. I believe Awakening 2e's magic system is an exponential improvement over 1e and more accurately reflects the game's themes and setting.

However, there are still some areas that need explanation or further detail (*cough* artifacts and imbued items *cough*). The promised Mage FAQ would hopefully have dealt with these issues. Sadly, according to Dave's comments, the FAQ is and shall remain vaporware.
>>
>>54226609

Do you honestly believe splat balance will be a thing once they're all updated to 2e? Because it's just not.
>>
>>54226639
What do you mean by balance? Total balance and equivalency? Because 1e certainly didn't have that either.
>>
>>54226639

I'm curious if 2e Sin Eaters will be more like mages, mummies and demons or just street-level in power scale.
>>
>>54226670
1e they were kind of ludicrous right? Like biblical vengeance powers and shit?
>>
>>54226689
Geists were right behind Mages, Mummies & Demons in 1e. It will probably be similar in 2e.

Mage is arrogant, impulsive, and narcissistic but smart as hell and genuinely cares about the people around them.
>>
>>54226698
Vampire would be pretty easy. Pale smooth skin, long straight raven black hair, fancy crimson dress.
Werewolf you need to play into a more tomboy wild girl vibe, shredded punk clothes and so on
Mage you could either go shy nerd or 'OH-HOHOHO~' lady
Promethean gentle giant misunderstood loner would probably be best
Changeling you could do way to many things with, honestly that ones going to be the hardest
Demon would be sexy secret agent character
Giest I would imagine is the more sober and composed loner gal, always with the same half smile on her face
Don't know enough about mummy
>>
>>54226670
>>54226689

Sin-Eaters were like right below the Mage/Mummy/Demon bracket. From the teases spoiled of it so far, it's not really easily to tell where they are on the power scale in 2e. I'm guessing maybe roughly around the same power level as they were in 1e. They were mentioned to remain a high ammo/rapid plasm slinging splat. Though powers are being tweaked, removed and replaced to cut away from the less thematic powers. It's possible they are stronger than the 1e versions now though since apparently Geists will be more mechanically relevant and feel present unlike the fluff after thought they were in 1e.

The God-Machine is an urban legend everyone blames everyone else for or thinks are creations of it.

In the end it turns out the God-Machine was inside you all alone. It was friendship, and also the social and magical order and phenomenon caused by their very existing.

And over it all the true God-Machine moves another Angel into position to prod Mummy-chan and Mage-chan together, ensuring that all goes according to plan.
>>
>>54226884

I don't think DaveB is really punishing everyone for a couple of assehats on the OPP forums. I think it's just a convenient excuse for the delays caused by mystery bad shit that apparently has been plaguing his life recently.

>most WoD like situation you've been irl?

Probably some kind of high level drug or arms deal i stumbled upon. I was taking a walk at night and saw two REALLY expensive cars standing there without drivers but still running. The drivers were in a nearby house entrance bent over a suitcase. A few other goons instantly started coming my way so i did the old 180 and took another way.
>>
>>54229991
Probably not terribly WoD, but I go on walks at night as well, and more than once I've had some spooky experiences. It's a rural neighborhood, so the streets tend to have thickets of woods lining them. The two most memorable ones were once I heard something clambering through the woods by the street, snapping branches and crunching leaves and what not, so I picked up the pace, and it did too. That escalated into me running back to my house, and it followed me the whole way, crunching and snapping, until I turned onto my street. The second time was more recent, just a few weeks ago. I was walking down a different street down by a different patch of woods, and I heard something in the woods again. It was like really labored breathing, but it wasn't wheezing or anything. It was like gravelly, grating panting, really rough, like closer to the sound of two rocks scraping together than actual breathing, but it was in the rhythm of breathing. I just walked backwards away from the woods until I was off the street.

I don't jump to /x/ conclusions, but I still have no clue what they could have been. The only animals running loose around here are deer, and they don't chase people or have rock lungs.
>>
>>54229885
My vote goes to 'someone.'

I don't know who, but if it bumps off Geist from a pirates setting, it's just fucking ridiculous. Even Beast has a more solid ground for a pirate setting than Changeling.
>>
>Mage overtook Geist AND Changeling
I'm kind of disappointed. Mage is my favorite splat, but honestly I wanted Geist to get it the most.
>>
I'm ok with either changeling or geist in the pirate setting but not mage and I say that as a hardcore mage fag/supremacist. Ideally we could get both Changeling & Geist in some form of crossover setting.

It would be a really boring/limiting setting for awakening.
>>
>>54230459
Sorry no. Mage has specific lore set around piracy. Geist has thematic reasons on its side.

Changeling has nothing.
>>
>>54230474

Seers n' shit
>>
>>54230484
Mage 2E Core, page 48: "Théarchs have even been known to make common cause with the Seers, when something threatens the Awakened as a people. They did so during the First Crusade’s Siege of Jerusalem, to preserve their power over the Sleepers of the Holy Land and stave off mutual annihilation by the soul-stealing demon Desiderus. So again, when Atlantean symbolism failed in a Triangle centered on the Pirate Republic of Nassau, caused by a democracy-devoted Nameless Order seizing power."

Show me something like this for Changeling.

>most WoD like situation you've been irl?

I am an old fart here, and in New England back in the 70's, a lot of the buildings involved in the textile industry that died out in the decades earlier still stood, abandoned and empty. Biiig buildings, some, complexes of buildings, set against a little river off in the middle of nowhere, outside of town, fenced off, but that was about it.

We camped down river from an old abandoned textile plant. It was a long camp-out/hunting/fishing trip, and we kind of got distracted - though it was never on our plans for that trip (we had talked about it in passing a few times before though), on the second night, we decided to visit the plant. We were restless and miserable because it was in the in the 90's and brutally humid, even at 2AM, with those black skies that taunt you, make you think rain is coming, but only give you heat lightning and misery, sweltering and sticky.

The mill itself was pretty much a large, imposing L shaped brick building, about four stories tall, with windows only at about the third to fourth story. Entrance was quite easy, as around river side was a huge loading door leading into the heart of the building, revealing the first floor, about two stories tall, stretching into the darkness and turning around the bend in the L.

Shit, girl's here, gotta go - fuck.. well anyway, we fucking stayed there in the dark area around the bend, until my buddy felt something nosing in his pocket - he smacks, thinking it was another buddy trying to take his lighter, and he ends up hitting something that squeaks. Something big... it was a fucking rat. but it was bigger than a fucking guinea pig, bigger than a chinchilla - it kind of flipped, trying to get traction on his windbreaker as it just tried to bold, we were all standing, trying to figure out wtf it was... and get our flashlights out (we had just a candle going at the time). Flashlights on, a bunch more were fleeing. We fled too.
>>
>>54230764
Sorry I had to rush it and can't do a longer write up atm, but I just wanted to add that now, 40 years later, I know that the area somehow was infested with nutria. We killed a bunch of them with the 22's and 12 gauges we had brought up for hunting (turkeys) and later would take our M1 Garands up there to try and wipe them out because if you saw a rat that size in 1975 you would want to put 30-06 through it too.
>>
>>54229816

Changeling and Geist are so close right now I wouldn't be surprised if they decide to do a 3-splat era. Unless it's proved changeling was botted.
>>
>>54230650
No problem, I just wanted to stress the difference in the importance of the era for the respective splats.

So I see that they released a Hunter expansion about Beasts, and I need to know how terrible it was.

>>
>>54231048
Did they? I seem to remember there being one amazing little tidbit along the lines of "Hunters don't bother with Beasts, and believe that Heroes should focus their efforts on the /real/ monsters". So I wonder what Hunters would have to do with Beasts.
>>
>>54231098
It's apparently called "Tooth and nail".
>>
>>54231098

Oh man, what is it called? I gotta see this. >>
>>54231131
More that hunters by and large see beasts as normal humans who do weird and shitty stuff but are at best slashers lite. Not at all terrible like werewolves or other real monsters

It basically is denying their otherkin-ism which is pretty great. The tone changes of course if a Beast forcibly gets on their radar or tries to teach lessons to them or people they know of.

I'm pretty sure that's the case, but even if it isn't you can still make it so.
>>
>>54231275
That's not how I saw it. it looked pretty bad - I mean from the start, it was really going all out trying to focus as much of the bad it could on those horrible bully heroes. And of course the opening fiction was yet more Christians getting stereotyped as fanatical lunatics with continued jabs later because they don't embrace the gay either. So the tumblr shit is thick as pea soup. And the hunter groups all seem to behave very differently from how one would expect textbook hunters to treat Beasts, which even further raises the bullshit levels (one outright accepts them as part of the way things are supposed to be, with Heroes being the problem even). It's a pretty shitty supplement, that shows that the full gamut of criticisms about Beast are pretty accurate and that these problems will plague anything Beasts touch from hereon out alas. God help us when Deviant arrives.

Neither, it's a movie called "The Warriors" - set in a period where the city of NYC was almost bankrupt, and the cops had almost red line levels of funding, it depicted a street gang fighting to return to safe territory, at night, across hostile turf populated with colourful and vibrant themed street gangs. The film enjoyed a cult status in NYC and actually inspired the street gangs of the period to dress flamboyantly, yet co-ordinated. The man in the center is a Warrior, the baseballer was a ...Fury? and the girl is a Lizzy. The film is a go to for WoD inspiration.

Embracing the horror and monstrous side. Make the character's horror their actual self and their human self a public shell rather than a weird psuedo-symbiosis. Lairs are cool, but I'd like to be able scare people out in the real world more than just brief or partial changing.

That doesn't even make any sense. If so, why would exist a whole Hunter mini-organization focused on wolf-blooded that refuse their parent's blood and want to get rid of it?

The same aim of that mini-organization could be easily applied on how Hunters deals with Beasts.

Dont all supers except demons autolove beasts too or some shit? That needs to be dropped.
>>
>>54233832
Not auto-love so much as have a reason to like and hang around with. Like Beasts are the ultimate predators so vampires like them, they know what it's like to walk the line between monster and human so werewolves like them, and apparently they also have tons of secret knowledge or something so Mages like them. I don't recall them exactly, but a lot of the given examples for Beast views on other splats basically boil down to "You are like little baby, watch this." Except for the Demon ones, who they were pretty hostile to. I remember one anon said it was because Demons didn't buy into their bullshit, since they themselves are the ultimate bullshitters.

More like a reminder that changeling, 1E and what we know about 2E, doesn't have any specific history with Nassau or pirates in general.

I actually think it's the other way around. A core of horrible ideas with some good ideas here and there. Even at a conceptual level, I feel that Beast does a poor job of providing a distinct, new splat. That's why I can't identify with Beast. It screams to much "LGBTTQIA+ and general minorities rejection from society", but they still fucking mess with other's people life because they need to do that.
They need to be the monster. They need to terrify. It doesn't matter if you're a black, wheelchaired, transexual and vegan. You are still a Beast who torment others to perpetuate your existance.
And I can't identify myself with that. Heroes are right in hunting down Beast, but writers transformed then on internet raging facebook users so no player would enjoy them.

If I would create a Beast character, I would simply create a gay man who accepts his inner dark side, but wouldn't go around as a savage because he has fucking brains. I also would use the "Mary Sue" way writers painted Beast so I could be those "psychologists of supernatural beings" to exploit more knowledge, plothooks and character devolopment. And that's it.

Sometimes I see Beast as a whole "you can go fucking back to the closet because society hates you and you can't expose yourself" story.

>>54234049
Only Jean Grey can reach higher levels of Mary Sue than Beast.
>>
>>54234380
Do those occurences deal with this concrete era and topic? Is there any historical event mentioned dealing with golden age of piracy with the same significance as is the case with Mage?

And really, lack of 2E for changeling doesn't make the Mage Nassau conflict invalid. As far as I know, Changeling still doesn't have any such central conflict, while mage does.
>>

Now Changeling is the first, with Mage two votes behind and Geist 18 votes behind Mage. If this continues, the splat not accepted will be based randomly on at what hour the poll closes.

If a vampire (especially oWoD) gets staked with their eyes open, can they still see and understand what happens? If someone stakes you, can you watch in horror as they put you outside to await the dawn?

According to V20 Core Rulebook:

"Stake Through Heart: A vampire can indeed be incapacitated by the classic wooden stake of legend. However, the legends err on one point: A Kindred impaled through the heart with a wooden stake is not destroyed, but merely paralyzed until the stake is removed. Maneuvers like tackle and sweep are intended to knock an opponent down. However, an especially powerful attack of any kind may send the target to the ground. Such instances are best left to the Storyteller’s discretion, and should occur only when appropriately cinematic or suitable to the story. To stake a vampire, an attacker must target the heart (difficulty 9). If the attack succeeds and inflicts at least three health levels of damage, the target is immobilized. An immobilized victim is conscious (and may use perception powers, such as those in the Auspex Discipline), but may not move or spend blood points."

The Kickstarter poll is fucked-up. There's no doubt significant spamming and repeat votes.

OPP has to do something before it hits the 55K stretch goal, or a lot of Kickstarter contributors and future purchasers and fans will rightfully feel very cheated and abused.

If I was OPP, I would only allow people who pledged at any level to vote, and the vote would be connected to their backer number. While people could still pledge, vote and back-out, it would still be much harder to spam and OPP could seek to block people from Kickstarter if they abused the system.
>>

>If a vampire (especially oWoD) gets staked with their eyes open, can they still see and understand what happens? If someone stakes you, can you watch in horror as they put you outside to await the dawn?

Yup. A staked vampire would be totally conscious, at least until their bodies go into torpor from a lack of blood or a severe enough beating.

Of course, remember that staking a vampire only immoblizes their *body*. Any disciplines (or even pre-prepared thaumaturgical rituals) that doesn't require the vampire to move their body in any way (and doesn't spend blood) can still be used.

Dominate, Animalism and Auspex are good examples.

A vampire with 5+ Dominate could theoretically hitch a ride in a mortal's body through Possession for as long as the mortal's body held out (and if they don't mind becoming a ghoul, that mortal might last a long time indeed)... though, they have to successfully roll Courage (8) at every new sunrise or get thrown out of the mortal's body and die an instant spiritual death (also, embracing a possessed mortal results in the possessed vampire dying if the vampire doesn't have their original body to return to).

You could potentially make a plotline that a staked big-bad-vampire who was left out for the sunrise by the beach have a human come waltzing along, maybe out for a morning jog or something... boom, antagonist returns later down the road, with the vamp possessing the mortal for maybe weeks or months (or years, but that'd be REALLY stretching SoD in my opinion).

So does anyone have an idea why Werewolf and Prommie have fucking nothing for them on the "current projects" part of OPP? Like are all the writers for them doing other things? Like Changeling at least has a supplement planned, vampire has 2 and so does Mage.

I don't even understand. What traits are commonly associated with queers? Being fabulous? Girl queers being decidedly not fabulous? Those are just stereotypes. You don't need a special word for stereotyping queers. Way to widen that rift.

I say it because OPP has all the signs of a company that'll get killed by its ownership. Thanks. Sadly, it looks like a lot more fluff and little crunch, just like Secrets of the Covenants and A Thousand Years of Night, both of which were meh books, at best.

The fact that nothing has been announced for Forsaken is very disappointing. 2e represented some great improvements on 1e, and The Pack was a very good supplement. Maybe Stew is too busy with W20.

Wait, are Demons really that powerful in CofD? Kind new to the splat. Aren't they really good at staying hidden and getting out of dodge? From what I could gather you can get some relatively powerful demon made (abusing Momentum and such) but wouldn't a well made Vampire or Werewolf be better than Demon at anything?

Or are we talking about fluff "power levels"?

>I'm a fucking big ol' bear faggot in real life.

Except for the most extreme, most people right of the political center have absolutely no problems with gays themselves. They have the similar trials and tribulation as everyone else.

The problem is that many gays are defined by the extremely vocal and irritating radically left activists. "Gay" has unfortunately become synonymous the far left, despite the reality that gays, again like everyone else, have a range of thoughts and views about politics, culture, economics, etc.

You get articles like the one linked earlier when being gay totally defines someone, and they see boogeymen everywhere and in everything. Such people often claim gays are like everyone else, and then systematically, albeit unintentionally, demonstrate the exact opposite.

Until WW finds someone more competent to steward the line. Honestly, I look at BNS as a good example of a licensee over OPP. They hit deadlines (a few things were slow like foreign language translations), they don't go into shitty gender politics or self-righteous sidebar rants about food, gender identity, 'if you feel like playing with gay people is wrong, maybe there's something wrong with you' sidebars, etc. OPP injects too much of their own, and their die-hard echo-chamber fans', social agenda into it.

I just want a fucking game book with rules and setting. I don't need all of this fucking political bullshit.

>Wait, are Demons really that powerful in CofD?

Demons are a in the top tier of raw power and versatility in the CofD. However, this is strongly balanced by a ubiquitous adversary, the God Machine and its angels, that are more powerful, numerous, and constantly hunting demons.

You might be interesting in checking out the Demon Storyteller's Guide. It has some of the best crossover observations and advice in all the CofD.

>None of the elder vampire stuff really seemed all that.... cool, I guess

While I didn't expect elders to be the Requiem equivalent of archmages, I was still hoping for a little bit more "oomph" mechanically to set them apart from other vampires.

I agree that many of the non-vampire adversaries comprised some of the best parts of the book (assuming OPP ultimately works out the editing nightmare that plagues everything, particularly stat blocks). My favorite was Deborah.
>>
>>54239239
100% agree on Deborah, I'm thinking of doing more things like her, perhaps a lil weaker, for a neonate game. then again I'm a REAL sucker for faith/religous aspects of things... You know, the ones that aren't shitty Lancea et Sanctum fucks.
>>
>>54239200
Thanks! I've barely skimmed through the basic book. Figured that Demons were pretty much fucked if they meet one of the God-Machine's angel so they are just very good at staying low. Spy style and shit.
>>
>>54239271
Demons can get pretty ridiculous when then go loud. Only a freshly awoken mummy or a prepared mage will trump them.
>>
>>54238358
Yeah, that's...that's really fucking weird. I mean I could see the argument that the Golden Age ended in the late 1500s instead of the late 1200s, but are they seriously saying that the Golden Age of Islam never ended?
>>
>>54239167
Is this actually true? I've heard some stories from one of my cousins (married bulldyke with stepkids), but I didn't want to put too much stock in anecdotal evidence. She told me that she and her wife took their kids up to a pride parade in Charlotte, but had to leave because they were being debauched. Like fooling around in the street and shit.
>>
>>54239230
It's messed up. It should be Geist instead of Changeling.
>>
>>54239297
Ah, that thing that allows them to use all of the Exploits, right? It did seemed pretty neat.

Doesn't going loud fuck them over though? I believe it ruined one of their human suits permanently.
>>
>>54239316
It really depends on where you go, but it can happen. Some gay people are so into their chosen scene and wanting to have that accepted (leather, puppy bullshit, etc.) that they don't have a sense of public decency. There's a point where 'I am gay and deserve the same right' and 'I am gay and <this thing that gets my bone going> should also be mainstream and recognized' is absolutely awful.
>>
>>54239297
While overall power is inconsistent, as it should be, I wonder how one would make a proper tier list for crossover.

I'm not referring to just power levels here, as some splats derail others just by existing.
>>
>>54239297
>Only a freshly awoken mummy or a prepared mage will trump them.

Or badass angels who'll definitely notice a Loud Demon.

Mummies and Demons have a lot more inherent and active constraints than mages, who usually seek out trouble and poke it in the eye in the pursuit of Mysteries rather than have trouble come looking for them.
>>
>>54239342
All exploits of their type of demon. NOT every one in the book..

and yes they burn a cover to do it.
>>
>>54239360
>I wonder how one would make a proper tier list for crossover.

Well, OPP stated that the Crossover Chronicles will be released soon(tm) and all you questions should be answered.

I don't envy the developer. They'll either be reviled as "ruining" everything or be a CofD superhero.
>>
>>54239360

I believe Hunter already has a tier system.
>>
>>54239271
Angels run the gambit from uber shit to probably punch holes in an entire group.

It'd depend on what rank the angel is and what powers it had.
>>

>>

>>
>>54239342
Yeah it blows one of their covers. It can be repaired but it'll take a lot of work. However, it might not be worth the effort since you got multiple covers. So you can switch to a patchwork burner cover if you're done with being subtle.
>>
>>54239458
Maybe confusing embeds and exploits.

doh
>>
>>54239427
They're probably going to butcher Mages.. Mummies n' Demons as well even. All for the sake of the special snowflake lessers.

Probably won't even mention Archmages at all.
>>
>>54239446
Hm, the examples given in the source book seem a bit meek. But fluff text does imply that far more powerful ones exist. Which is why I assumed that Demons are not even meant to fight them. Just blow up the magical Infrastructure and get away.
>>
>>54239460
Crossover chronicles is going to be more of the same shit seen in 1000 years of night?

Do people really think its going to have actual mechanics to "balance" all the splats together?

NO, it'll have bullshit fluff that lists how they can all play happy clappy with each other and have zero actual crunch.
>>
>>54239515
Fight, Jack, Hide, Run, choose one when a Angel is inbound.
>>
>>54239475
Huh, yeah, forgot that you can have multiple of those. That actually sounds rather awesome story wise. Keeping a unassuming, boring and rather irrelevant Cover to burn in and get some blaze of glory for a moment.

>>54239543
Hm, so you can actually punch good archangel Gabriel (even if it's a biomechanical monstrosity from outer realms of space/reality) in the balls. Nice.

It's really the only reason I bother sticking around this place anymore, just to see how it turns out. I don't see any outcome where people like it, though I suppose its technically possible. It's either going to just come out and say that yes some people are more powerful than others and things stay the same as they are or get even worse, or else it will say that those rules are for the lines as individuals and running crossover you do this other stuff instead and the threads turn into a huge shit flinging contest. Unless its penned by beings of utter angelic grace though, I don't see it making this place any better

In what way? Changeling is hardly the only splat that's hunted and damaged.
>>
>>54239961
Beasts, werewolves, and vampires.
>>
>>54239961
All splats can be gigantic assholes (even the Sin-Eaters can be abusive toward ghosts and the living). Mage just has that as a theme.
>>
>>54239985
Well, they both seem to share a core theme of "somebody suddenly took you away to somewhere to be altered for nefarious purposes, but you escaped; the alterations gave you power, but also left you with a lot of scars, and you're furious at those who did this to you".
>>
>>54239985
Not him, but it kind of is pretty similar. I mean, you're kidnapped (I think), twisted and changed, you escape, your captors try to reclaim you, and all the while you're struggling to cope with how you've been changed.
>>
>>54239998
>CofD assholes

I'll agree about beasts ("teach lessons"!), see nothing to justify werewolves at all, and vampire are minor league compared to mages, little more than irritating corpses with delusions of grandeur.

I sure do hope that Awakening's Chapter in the CC book is just one page with the word "DON'T" on it. Because mechanically speaking, mages don't play well with anything but other mages.
>>
>>54240357
I'd say it's only because they're meatier than the others.

Then I realize that they can make any splat-issue irrelevant with just one or two dots in select Arcana.
>>
>>54238988
Well duh they're stereotypes, but they're being applied as negative traits to characters that aren't actually gay, instead of stereotyping actual gay people. So the word makes that distinction.
