That's the remake where he was a generic Dark Elf who got his face melted off with his own Acid, and got it magically fixed by an evil wishing well who Changed his name from Kelvor to Skeletor The original had him an extra-planar outsider as shown in the OP, but also an implied origin in the show with a highly generic looking "totally not skeletor or anything guys!" episode but never went anywhere with it.

From a D&D perspective, Skeltor is in fact, a Yugoloth.
