My entire perception of gnomes has been shaped by Majesty, and it's the main reason why I don't see a problem with having halflings and gnomes in the same setting.

There weren't any. The point is that when I think "gnome", I think of Majesty's version, which basically come across as civilized goblins. This is very different from halflings, where I think "hobbit".

So as a result I've never really understood people posting threads on /tg/ like "why do you have halflings, gnomes, and dwarves in the same setting? They're all the same". They're NOT the same, to me. Not even remotely.
