Also GW will almost certainly strategically omit certain major armies from Codex releases for awhile to ensure they still sell the Indexes those armies are included in.

For example, we might not see Astra Militarum and AdMech both released this year because those are the two major armies in Imperium 2. They're not going to rely entirely on Sistersfags to buy the Index. If anything, that's more reason for them to release an actual SoB codex and update, so they make mad bucks on new players finally starting Sisters while still selling the now-outdated Index for those players to the IG guys in droves.

They won't give rules for anything that doesn't have a model. And in the FAQ, the question that asked will new models come out for every faction with their new codex they essentially said not all. But eventually all factions would get more models. So I think that is as clear as can be that Dark Eldar won't get more characters/models in this codex. The best we can hope for is more fluff based rules that give us more flavour as an army.

Crimson Slaughter and Black Legion were both printed twice with slightly different rules, then you needed the main Codex of course, then traitor"s hate then that got exchanged with traitor legions, plus you needed curse of the wulfen, magnus book and 2 fw books + Daemon Codex to be remotely competitive for a total of 10 books

Wait deathguard are getting their own book? Not a nurgle deamonkin kind of thing just deathguard CSM? They have only a handful of unique units and is hardly enough to make an entire codex about

Also does this mean all of the big 4 will be getting codexes? If I play say Emperors childrens or thousands sons should I avoid buying the CSM dex and wait?

There are more Death Guard units coming, a couple have been teased already, like Terminators, Mortarion and a Daemon Engine.

I assume that eventually they'll all get Codizes, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Emperor's Children to get one.

Also I assume the CSM dex will have unit rules for all the Cult stuff, just no Warlord Traits, Strategems etc. for the Cult Legions.

The leaked images we've seen and the DI lord are in cataphractii, and plague marines get Grave Warden grenade launchers. I don't think we're getting death shrouds. I just hope there's at least option for regular/tartaros terminators. Ones with power axes and combi-flamers probably doubles as death shrouds well enough.
