I'm going to level here: By the time I'd gotten round to actively writing things out for my chain, "do a backlip off a missile while your Stand takes out the robot dog with a squeaky hammer" was a sensible, well thought out and justified strategy.

I try for realism, but from a very unrealistic starting point. The problem is the issues I'm trying to communicate are pretty incomprehensible to begin with. For example, the reason why my Jumper loathes his Exaltation in particular is because long before having actual Charms, he was afraid of his own charisma perks doing much worse than Desus to people who mattered.

I don't know if it's a futile cause.

It was the first I'd lost a fistfight in countless centuries. So. Yeah, that one stood out.

Even then I think it's avoidable. Mary Sues aren't when the story is all about them, it's when the story is all about them for no good reason. When characters are focused on this one guy to the detriment of all other interactions or concerns. If the character's inserted into the events in an organic fashion, where they have a reason for their power to involve them in the key parts of the story, that's fine. But if they're just there, hogging the screentime from characters who have a greater emotional investment in what's going on, then it's definitely a Mary Sue.

Well, the plot starts when asshole otaku meets pic related and decides to make a Visual Novel out of her.
But he doesn't know jack shit about doing things, so he recruits other girls that are into him and know what to do.
Shenanigans, problems, drama, and some character development around it.

It's less that the fact that Jumpchain isn't real that makes me want to kill myself and more that Jumpchain (and imaginary worlds in general) are a distraction from my constant self-loathing. I don't want to kill myself because I know that Jumpchain isn't real, I already wanted to kill myself and remembering that Jumpchain gets rid of the distraction that stops me from doing anything permanent.

Jumpchain doesn't really lend itself to writing good stories, not really helped by the tendency for "snippets" rather than a consistent narrative. Gauntlets really should have been the default form of jump, though.

Ancient Belkan, being less about shooting and bombardment than its modern form or Midchildan, has some advantage in evading too much scrutiny, I think.

Finishing this thought, Fire Emblem Geneology and Elibe would be good. Lewyn would support me and I'd have a kid with him. Just shove Dierdre in the warehouse, tell a few people what the shit is going on with Loptyr, and then waltz out. Elibe would go the same way.

I'd probably barely scrape by Sailor Moon feeling insignificant and depressed, then Fire Emblem Heroes fixes up my issues only for Tellius to make me depressed once more because Tellius is a hellhole and there doesn't seem to be any way to fix shit in the setting without more problems happening or it becoming too monumental for my jumper to handle.

Heathers would probably end up with me fistfighting Jason Deen (Possibly accidentally killing him depending on the drawbacks I take) when inevitably he disregards the shit I tell him given how he's a shitty person. Hamtaro is a nice cooldown jump, and then Yuki Yuuna is a Hero would depress me because I don't have the power to fix the setting other than get the Taisha to stop being massive cocks to the Heroes they recruit.

Fire Emblem Valentia would probably end in my jumper going shithive maggots and just murdering Berkut on the spot to save Rinea from him and be a very jaded mentor to Celica.
