Let's hear those stories! What are some clever applications of polymorph / other shapechanging spells that you've used in your campaigns?
For my part: I just polymorphed an elephant into a fly, caught it in a bottle, and threw it at an enemy for a makeshift Elephant Grenade
I turned into an Immovable Rod and had our rogue cram me down the throat of a sleeping Giant.
It went well.

There's a lot of reasons that shouldn't work

Not him but I once had a relatively low level party go up against a smallish dragon and shoved immovable rods into his wounds and activated the to stop him from flying away.
I thought it was creative.

It's really being able to turn into an immovable rod that's at the center of the problem

One game I played in, one of the other players was using the War Weaver prestige class from Heroes of Battle, which lets you affect multiple allies with a single spell.
At one point, we fought some kind of fire-breathing draconic hydra thing. So our wizard buddy was like, "let's fight hydra with hydras!"
And then the whole party was hydras. With the huge volume of bite attacks we could dish out like that, the enemy hydra was toast in no time.
We agreed never to do that again. Polymorph is broken enough in 3.5; Mass Polymorph for the same spell slot is just ridiculous.

Does anyone have the old /tg/ classic story where a dude TPK suicide bombs the party and a dragon by truing into a hawk, flying up high, dive bombing at maximum peregrine falcon speed then turning into a blue whale just before impact?
