Are there any systems that have the feel of a retro point and click adventure game, or something like the SNES Zeldas? OD&D just doesn't seem like it's going to cut the mustard here.
tl;dr: what are some good lightweight fantasy adventure rulesets?
Retrophaze is the closest you'll get

Thanks, but uh... if I'd wanted attribute+race+class I'd just stick with OD&D instead of one of the 500 knockoffs of the idea.
(FATE would be great because attributes are treated the same as skills, but I can't stand FATE points and don't particularly like aspects. It's too much a story/plot oriented system and not an adventure based one.)
Something like scrolls and swords?
Barbarians of Lemuria?

I'll give it a look. Skimming through "Warrior, Rogue & Mage" right now and generally liking what I see at least as something to springboard from.

Saw that one and liked some stuff about it, but overall not so much.

Okay no, just looked that one up and that's too much beer and pretzels--it really has no substance to it at all, even Rezus is more complex.
Perhaps you would gain more traction in your search if you were to detail the exact elements you are looking for, rather than waiting for suggestions and then dismissing them for lacking those elements.
Just a thought.
