I try to post quality content, be a good person, and I still would rather go to /tg/ than most other boards, but I don't think /tg/ is as great as it used to be anymore. At best I'm aping the old style of humor on occasion - humor that I don't fully understand, being a newfag - and I've come to realize that even if we could bring it back, I don't think anyone would want it now. Times have changed too much. The better days are gone now, all I can do is keep this thing afloat so it won't get worse.

/pol/ is /pol/ because /b/ dragged Stormfront back with them during the height of raid culture (rules 1 and 2 never worked.) Some of them liked what they saw and undertook a concerted infiltration and subversion effort that took root pretty strongly in /n/ because many of those natives who weren't already sympathetic felt it was funny to play along.

It's the same process that fucked up most of 4chan, raids raised the notoriety of the board and the targets came to see what all the fuss was about, leading to local trolls imitating the newcomers to annoy other locals. But when all the newest of newfags had to see when and if they chose to lurk was obnoxious newfags and trolls pretending to be exaggerated versions of them many of those traits took hold as the current culture of the site.

The board needs some change before the /fvgt/, L&K, Fading Embers, the Calvin and Hobbes RPG, and all those other projects can really prosper on here. I'm not really doing anything to change that at this point... at least not as effectively as I'd like, but at least I'm annoying enough to have people pay attention when I do try and tell them the issues with the board.

It was glorious. Bad memes, good memes... original ideas, bait... it didn't matter. It was all the same. You picked a thread you liked and went with it, and whether you were getting trolled or getting pumped because people latched onto your idea, you had fun because you knew... it was all really a game of sorts. You got trash-talked, but you knew it was your fampai doing the trash talk, so you just rolled with it.

Not everything needs to have a tabletop game. Some premises are going to fit gaming much better than others.

R&M is a fairly bland and undeveloped setting in general, but the few parts that ARE well developed are character-driven. This doesn't make the setting bad, it just makes it designed with a purpose. People go fucking nuts over how much Tolkien developed his setting, but the different races all having deep histories isn't necessary for the narrative of midget adventures.

If you take away birdo wiggles and gandalf from LOTR, you still have a setting. If you take R&M from R&M, you have pretty much nothing. You would end up playing a game where the players stat up literal nobodies or you shoehorn the players into making donut steel the hedgehog and making him a part of the multiverse rick circlejerk. You could develop the setting to make things more interesting for the player, but the amount of fanfiction required would be enough material to completely divorce the work from any existing franchise.
