After all the Manlet Marines get upgraded to Chad Marines, the old power armor will be given to Guardsmen and they will become Guard Marines. Would it be effective to run an Admech army with Space Marine allies for some flyer and deep strike support? I haven't played before but I'm interested in starting admech and it's the one thing they seem to lack. I think the Iron Hands and some metalica admech would look pretty good together.

Gun-line IG is unfortunately still one of the most expensive armies in 40K.

Plus unless you want to spend stupid amounts of money you tend to be locked into Cadians sculpts which are the most boring IG faction (although Catachans are also pretty shit).

Mordians or Praetorians are probably the closest in looks to Napoleonic but you would be spending silly amounts of money on building either.

Skitarii player here. The loss of the special rules that gave us more speed than average hurts us. We're on average with the other foot sloggers now, and we have no transports. So lack of mobility is bad for us. Vanguard don't shit out quite as many wounds as they used to, but they still do their job pretty well. We lost feel no pain, but the removal of the instant death rule really helps us actually so it evens out. Overall I feel like we are in a decent place, but we are even more heavily dependent on gun lines than before since we are less mobile. I see rangers picking up popularity since their range will make them more useful compared to the vanguard who will have difficulty getting into range.

Have you considered Ironstriders? I use a large number, and they are still really fast, and a lot more durable than they used to be. A decent sized group of those is a pretty serious threat that can draw attention of of the rest of you army and do some serious work. That and they are still pretty cheap points wise.

Any other krieg players hype for this edition. Only thing I was disappointed by was the bizarre removal of the hades drill from the krieg specific list and the inability of engineers to ride it into combat.

The sculpts are stellar, but a lot of the hands have very slight claws. A bit of filing and the right paint job could turn the carapace into a carapace plate.

Big problem is the shoulder. Cadians sculpts are fucking giant.

Dragoons are really good. Ballistarii are nice, they play into gun line pretty good, but what you want the Ironstriders for is for fast moving units that can disrupt the enemy and Dragoons are great at that. They hit like a truck at s8 3 attacks with exploding 6s.

You must realize that all Vanguard now can do pseudo-fleet maneuver that let them shoot after run due to the new Assault rules, so their threat range are 30" instead of 24" like usual. And their calivers lost their Gets hot! rules, but loosing a burst is kinda bitch ( they got cheaper tho, like 14 pts per piece, and with overcharge they can be real pain in the ass for light vehicles).

Personally, i think they are one of the most mobile and versatile infantry in the game. But yeah, they'll need those metalbox pretty hard.

I haven't done any of the requisite dry-fitting, except for the rhino which I'm pretty satisfied with. So take this with a grain of salt:

Rhino -
Rhino hull (vindicator kit)
Vindicator armour plates
Vindicator top plate (I cut the rhino doors to fit the top vent, not really neccesary, but fill it with something)
Vindicator front-plate with Rhino front-plate flipped, cut to a T shape and fitted into the hole where the cannon goes (end result is nice, but took a lot of time, regular rhino plate works with a few minor adjustments.

Exorcist -
Rhino hull (baal predator kit)
Rhino armour (optional, forgeworld in this case.)
Stalker top plate
Missile launchers of choice mounted to the stalker turrets (if it doesn't work out, I'll just use the razorback or hunter top-plates and mount a whirlwind or space marine anti-air missile whatsit turret inside the hole)

Immolator -
Rhino hull (vindi kit)
Vindicator armour plates
Hunter top plate (adjusted to fit as close to the front of the vehicle as possible, if possible)
Baal predator turret (mounted inside stalker hole, or razorback hole fitted inside stalker hole)
(alternatively, I've considered using the stalker top-plate and mounting the flamers, bolters, or meltas on the little turrets, but that extra range flamer deserves a turret, I think.)

Repressor -
Chimera hull (Or Rhino, maybe parts of one on top of another.)
Rhino tracks (Stalker/Hunter)
Stalker/Hunter armour plates
Dozer blade (vindicator)
Spare chimera track pieces over the lasgun array ports to make them look like proper firing points. Or something to that effect.
Figure I can mount a flamer to the hull and line it up with the dozer blade's gap.

That's the very rough outline of how I think it'll go down. The vindicator to rhino makes a satisfyingly chunky looking transport and is basically stand-alone, the Immo, Exo, and Repressor would all take parts from each other, hypothetically, so I'd need to build them as a set.

Krieg will never fail again. Krieg will never be failed again.

Rules look pretty good. Orders are nasty and varied, Cult of Sacrifice is a good army-wide for your blobs. Engineers look much like they always did, though yeah, bummed about the Hades drill. Weird, seeing as it was originally a Krieg specific thing.

they look pretty playable, you wont destroy the world because of the lack of frfsrf but stuff like death riders, mars alpha patter tanks and the general compatibility with normal guard (now kriegers can ride on vendetta/valks) makes them pretty good (and now without the need of full command squads they consume less points, even if stuff like the quartermaster got seriusly buffed by giving a 6+ invul and the medipack ability.


and hey, they ignore battleshock for casualties that got shot and cavalry can get orders as well.

I just got some arcadian guardsmen/guardswomen from Victoria lamb and they are just gorgeous. She really captured GW's imperial guard aesthetics and they will fit in nicely with any gw kits.

Depends on what you want out of a 40K novel. The first book at least (only one I've read) is super heavy on the world-building. Like, it goes into some pretty detail over the mundane everyday aspects of Imperial life. Yeah at least once every other chapter or so someone is getting either shot, stabbed or bludgeoned with a power-maul but overall it's much more in the vein of something like Law and Order: Extreme Edition then a true run n' gun 40k novel. It makes the Eisenhorn novels look like Space Marine Battles stories in comparison.

If that's your thing you'll love it. Also Shira is cute CUTE!

In 7th they can only either do 24" assault or 12" run, since assault weapons can only give you ability to charge after shooting and they don't have the dunestrider ability. 8th give them waay more reach and mobility than before.

I think Space Marines ruin 40k for me. I play Daemons so there isn't much shooting, but you at least get to feel spooky and rush down enemies/make them run away. Space marines are just the anti-daemons. It fucking sucks, they don't get scared, shoot you before you can touch them, use rhinos to become even more stupidly mobile, and even in close combat have a pretty good chance of surviving.

I like IM/IG, they are fun to fight. They get spooked by daemon hordes, they fight back with reasonable weaponry, and actually make me feel like I can enjoy myself in a fight. Ive only played like 3 games though so it's not like my main hobby or anything, but i'm just worried that space marines are going to ruin me being able to enjoy this. Why would anyone play space marines anyways? They just ruin the mood of the game if you ask me.

I'm pretty much in agreement with you. They are boring in setting and boring to play against. You get a lot of weak and untrustworthy homosexuals in this hobby, so it's understandable they would play Marines. Guys like their power fantasies and Marines are basically that to the extreme.

That said, Guard are really strong this edition, so I stomp Marines every time. Daemons would be fun to fight, I have a lot of melee units so it would be a good clash.

Fellow AdMech players, how do you deal with horde lists? I've recently joined with a small 400-500 points list from the basic box and I seem to have problems against infantry-heavy lists. I did fine in my games vs Necrons, but the orks just tore me apart since my Neutron laser did almost nothing and my 10 vanguards squad went down pretty fast in CC. Dominus held his stand in CC though and whopped some ass which felt awesome.

My thought on upgrading to 1k was getting another Starter Box for Skitarii since I get one cheap from a buddy, but then again what should I equip to embrace the hordes? I'm pretty set on making the new infantry guys 5 rangers and 5 vanguards for Character Sniping and another small infantry unit.

But seriously, as my recent experience goes, they don't even get nerved that hard. Vanguard can move+run+shoot now and with canticles, can shit on T3s on 2+ in CC and have rerolls on their plasma so they can overcharge it erryday. They still 30 shots max and since 5 and 6 plus saves are still shitty flip-a-coin-or-you'll-die kind of stuff, they still can kill 10-15 light infantry dudes on average. The only loss that matter imo is those AP, their 6+ FnP are hardly matter and 6+ more wound is a rare occurance. They still great as they are, only a bit toned down.

Rangers are getting it harder but they now a decent sniper platform and can shit on MCs from far far away.

Had a game today. Crusaders and DCA yet again being strong as fuck. They balanced those units poorly.

I ran Pask Punisher, 30 cons, 3 infantry squads, 2 commanders, 2 priests, 2 commissars, Manticore, mortar squad, heavy bolter squad, 9 crusaders, 9 DCA, 5 man Scion squad, terminator inquisitor and Celestine.

Kind of a weird list but I wanted to try those units again. It was against Necrons. He had blobs of warriors and an immortals with a lord and entourage, a ghost arc and some spider tank. It was a fun game but my units tore shit up in melee. He decided to call it when I was close to tabling. He's going to be ready next battle so I'm excited to see what happens.

With Pask or a Tank Commander it's super worth it.

I'm thinking of doing Pask in a Demolisher with Lascannon and Multi-Meltas for ultimate anti-tank. That way you can take 1-2 Punisher Tank Commanders and Pask can give them orders to re-roll 1s. 3+ re-rolling 1s is basically what he was before anyway. So you get 2 mini Pasks and Pask on Demolisher hitting on 2+ and 3+ for the other guns if he moves.

As of this point in time it's all one army.

The admech stuff is tougher, and it hits like a truck, but with a few exceptions they tend not to have very many models on the table. If you use servitors and the robots then you lack a bit of presence. Their guns are great on the servitors and the robots. They also have a decent melee in the form of electro priests that got buffed this edition (they used to be absolute shit, but nowadays they are actually pretty decent).

Skitarii are not as tough, but they are cheaper and more numerous, and also more flexible with a wider variety of units. Your troops are either vangard or rangers. Vanguard are shock troops. High damage output at a short range and better than average melee. Rangers have better than average range. Good place to stick a sniper special weapon.

The sicarians are your melee specialists and infiltrators. Difficult to use but you can get good results with them if you figure out how to use them.

Ironstriders are walkers. They have a melee and gun platform varient. Both are quite good. Very mobile.

Onagers are your tank. Sort of. They have really big guns. Really big guns.

The play style tends to be gun line. You can switch things up with ironstriders/electro priests/ sicarians (and you should probably have a few as support for your gun line.) thats not normal. Most of the time you are going to see a gun line with a lot of Skitarii and onagers. Mostly vanguard. New edition so we'll have to see how things will shake out.

Well, I had different thoughts on dealing with hordes so far and hoped people around here had experience.

One of the options would be heavy dakka with Kastelan Robits. 18 S6 Ap-2 shots per unit on 36" while having the protector Protocol seem nice. Still only on a 4+ but that would be on average 9 hits.

Another one could be Sicarian Infiltrators. Dealing AP0 hits seems bad on paper, but the sheer amount of hits per turn while having a Flechette (Pistol 5) and Taser Goads (3 Attacks) might be enough to rip apart at least one or two units.

Lastly I'd thought about Fulgurite Electro-Priests. Their attacks are okay (2 Attacks on 3+ with S5 AP-2 D3 Dmg) but the real kicker is their Voltagheist Field (after a charge and reaching up to 1" to an enemy, roll a D6 for each of your priests, on a 6 you deal a mortal wound, kinda like 'Litany of the electromancer' in a small version)
A real survival bonus is the 3+ save when you manage to take a unit down, else it's mediocre 5+. Also having an additional wound ignore on 5+ looks decent.

Anyone having any experience with either of those against hordes? Or what would you pick when you had the choice here? Feels great to have a discussion platform for stuff like that.

Infiltrators with flachete and goad are 200% anti hoard. They shredded my buddies guard and nids in shooting and cqc.

The bots aren't really anti hoard per see. They erase elite units pretty well, but they just are too expensive for anti hoard duties. What they are great at is shoring up your line. They act as solid immovable points the rest can rally around. They just won't die, and they punish whatever tries to get at them. Good for leading the charge or for blunting an enemy offensive.

Some formations do exist. The Death Korps has explicitly used korps consisting of several regiments, and armies consisting of at least one korps.

Thing is, there is no standardised size for a regiment. All from modern definitions of a few thousand men to several hundred thousand. Compared to modern divisions, you can see why larger units are not standard.

New list for your perusal. I was planning to start a full scion/stormtrooper army this esition, but apparently they're pretty much 'new tau' so I'm trying to think of alternatives. Basic idea is mobile assault units of Vets, with buffs from the HQs and priest, scions fill gaps (and I already have the models). Does this look at all viable?

Also, can the priest count towards my elite requirements for the Vanguard Detachment? If so I could downgrade the backline Vets to an infantry squad for a Batallion Detachment

You need a tank commander to make it work. The optimal number for any tank combo is 3:

Two tank commanders
1 Pask

The Pask orders rerolling ones to the co tanks and that gives them very, very good accuracy. Then on the first or second turn you use strike and shround in whichever two tanks are most wounded while the techpriest you probably bought prioritizes whichever wounded tank is closest to either losing a BS or closest to regaining a BS after being hit.

Be careful stacking multimeltas and other expensive toys on this already expensive unit.

For instance:
"This (orange juice) tastes bum" apparently meant the orange juice tasted good. How in the fuck does that make any sense? Granted it was a very low-class kid from a bad area who said this and I've never heard it from outside that area.

Seriously, those things are lethal. S8 AP2 large blast that forces cover to be at -1 and rerolled, at BS5. Probably going to be nerfed to shit honestly, since translating that directly is just a D6 shot S8 lascannon that ignores what little cover armoured vehicles will have. Personally I want Ursarax, throwing out a truly insane number of S10 powerfist attacks that will probably hit on 4+.

Also Peltasts will probably do a hell of a job at anti-horde, plus we might get a cheaper HQ in an Axiarch of some kind.

They have some great looking napoleon era minis that you can buy for cheap.

The arms look a little weird since they are truescale compared to the paws of pvt. Meaty Hueghands that is normaly drafted to the guard but you could easily slap some 40k arms on them for that clasic grotesque look
