I used to run 3 Icarus Array Dunecrawlers in 7e purely because I liked the fluff, look and feel of them, they dragged me down a bit when no aircraft were present but weren't completely useless. Now with the BS4+ against ground units and BS2+ against anything with a jetpack or wings I stick my Dominus next to them and laugh mightily at how much better they've gotten as general-purpose units.

Neutron Laser Dunecrawlers are fantastic, don't get me wrong, but I still like my Icarus Arrays since they filled in the anti-air niche in my larger 7E games, that and they're still very viable as anti-everything dakka in 8th, if not particularly good at anything.

other guy here, I would run a mix of both personally. I have a fairly small force but plan on 2 neutrons and 1 Icarus array. That said my area doesn't have a ton of flyers and my army is going to be allied to IG anywhere past a 1000pts, so I'm not too worried about any potential gaps my army may have.

anyone else struggling against wyvern/basilisk heavy guard?
