Now, on to on-topic stuff regarding my WIP, what do you guys think about companions having an income in We Wuz Cats n Shiet? Cause I'm trying to develop this resource system so that it's detailed and compelling, but not tedious.

For example, if you were to move in with a companion, you could take their monthly income into account when paying for the rent/estate. Especially so if you decide to marry them or something.

In terms of contracts, they will give you a flat amount of cash for a 3-month term (aka a Quarter of the year, notated as Q1/Q2/Q3/Q4). Some contracts may also require you to take companions. So, in these cases, would it make sense to make you split up the contract's cash reward between you and the companions?

I'm kind of against the idea and am probably just gonna go with not listing companion incomes and you have to do all your finances with your own income, but I wanted to know what people thought about it. On one hand, it could give a reason to take certain companions, and on the other, it could open another deep can of worms I probably shouldn't tamper with.

If we assume that rents are listed per person, then there's no reason for them to go down even if you move in with someone. Either the landlord demands payments per person instead of flat fee or moving into "simple apartment" with someone means moving into larger and more expensive apartment than if you were moving into "simple apartment" alone.

It's not entirely perfect solution but it's fairly reasonable explanation why rent is the same no matter who you live with. Maybe give small discount to rent for having companion if you think that two people sharing house and splitting rent have it cheaper than single person.

And actual daily living expenses stay pretty much the same.

It would probably be better not to list the companions income and instead if they are really rich and generous, or really poor and your waifu, make them give income bonus/penalty to you. Less stuff to track, still accounts for their spending a little.

The Midas Touch is both a good money make and a powerful instant kill touch attack effectively. Potions are good for all purpose stuff. Wish I knew the duration of the invincibility one, if its possible I'd have one active whenever out and about just in case of a visit from the Slayer or someone similar. Golems make for good home defence and possible waifus, depending on how complex I can make them.

That's a good way to justify it, actually. I'll go with that for now until convinced otherwise. AFAIK, most IRL couples keep to their own income anyways when moving in together. A discount for rent could be a possibility, though. I like having the idea of compelling players to move in with someone.

The biggest cash sink I think will be the housing. The highest tiers of housing would barely be affordable to those with the highest-paying jobs/contracts, so living with someone to help pay for it could help justify those costs. I'm thinking of "tiering" the housing according to job "tiers" as well, so you have the same case with middle and lower-class.

I like the idea of not having to be the only bread winner in the household, but I'm also a complete and utter sucker for the whole demure stay at home housewife and hard working husband idea.
Adding an income to companions could really add some depth to them and make them harder to choose between, which is never a bad thing in my opinion.
Either way I'd probably still be perfectly happy to have that Kitty Bar I brought up a while back and use my earnings to make sure my beautiful kemonomimi wife can live a happy and comfortable life and feel safe knowing I can provide for her.

So, this is going to somehow play into the store leasing system.

I haven't 100% figured out how it will work yet but I think I'm going to allow you to lease a small-sized store and you can sell your own goods. Originally I had thought of letting you leasing larger commercial spaces, but decided against it because that's just another can of worms (we'll have people going full Elon Musk, creating their own companies and becoming billionaires or whatnot).

So, I'm probably going to stick with small-store leasing so you can open up a clothes store or something. Of course, you'll have to "hire" employees to run your store, but I think I will just include that in the leasing/maintenance costs and have a simple rule where "by leasing this space you need to pick 4 qualified people to run it".

As for splitting profits with companions, I think I'm just gonna shun the whole ordeal as per previous posts. It's too much to calculate. I agree that adding income to companion choices is an interesting idea, but for now, I'm not going to do it for mechanics reasons.

So people like Cuchulain, who are multidisciplinary, basically get divided up into pieces. Gae Bolg and his spear prowess are only present when he's a Lancer, his Rune Magic is only present when he's a Caster, and his Warp Spasm is only present when he's a Berserker, instead of a real Cuchulain who would have all three and more.

On the other hand, the Slayer no longer has any kind of increased physical stats, they're just a dude with blink and a knife to start with. They don't have any particular way of tracking other gifted, or any special stealth or combat bonuses.

If they're lucky enough to find a weak target and kill them then they might be able to get exponentially powerful from there, but its a big if for them getting that far in the first place.

Honestly though I think it'd be better to just remove the Slayer, because it was said by someone earlier, it just turns into "everybody hunts the slayer first or holes up in a fort until they're dead".

I've got a question, do you suppose it'd be logical for the missiles in Stardust universe to shoot around the spaceship, as a missile launcher was on left side of the broadside, can it reach the right side by curving around like homing missile? The problem is that he used an inordinate amount of layers, so even simply scrolling to the bottom takes an annoying amount of time. Every single element is its own layer. On top of that, the transparency on the background image and the boxes he used simply does not work, they either lay on top of the image or below it entirely, no 'windows'. So I would have to shuffle 60+ layers (this is just the ones devoted to images and their associated elements) and readjust the transparency on everything for it to work properly. I would essentially have to remake the most work-intensive part of the CYOA, and I'm only talking about the first of three pages here.

I looked it up myself and the plugin is incapable of transferring these effects to GIMP because they have been too lazy in over a decade to add that functionality to the pds interpreter. The only way to do anything with this would be to pirate photoshop, and I've never even used that program so I'd have to learn it too.

You're on the right track anon, but you haven't taken it far enough. E makes you immune to 1, 4, and 8; L permanently increases intelligence, while 2 degrades it temporarily, and similarly, 10 temporarily degrades your ability to read people and 6 decreases your ability to empathize with people, while D increases these abilities permanently and temporarily gives you full-blown mind-reading powers. K reverses your aging, which, as a side effect, should also negate the negative effects of insomnia, allowing you to negate the negative effects of 5.

So, I think a better list would be something like this:
White Chi: A, B, D, E, K, L, C
Black Chi: 1, 4, 8, 2, 10, 6, 5

C and A's powers are what let you keep this harem together, since you've got the enhanced charisma from A to talk the women around and defuse arguments and strife between your harem girls, and the money from C's precognitive visions letting you win the lottery over and over again, followed by taking the hundreds of thousands if not millions from the lottery winnings to all the local casinos to play in the big-stakes casino games until they kick you out for cheating, at which point you start playing the stock markets, but you probably own a giant mansion for them all to live in anyway.

Day to day routine would probably be something like fucking B, then E, then A, at which point you fuck 1, 4, then 8. You then fuck D and C, then 6 and 10. Once you finish that, it's off to work for the day, using your precog visions to make the big bucks. Once that's done for the day, you can head home, fuck L and 2, then 5 and K. You then spend a few hours in meditation or whatever, then start it over again. The daily grind of a Taoist Immortal, fucking over a dozen beautiful women every day while living in a luxurious mansion.
