What's the best ship of Star Wars and why is it the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer?
>>
Help me out, /swg/. Me and some friends are gettting into x-wing and we're looking on recommendations for what ships to get after the core set. All factions are welcome since between all of us, someone will probably choose to focus on each faction.

Dream FFG Erratta for when wave 11 drops? Here's my ideal changes/wish list.

- Sabine only works on dial reveal bombs.
- Advanced Slam does not allow bombs to be dropped
- TLT now reads Attack (Target Lock)
- Biggs is either once per round or just obstructs ships at range 1 of him
- Jumpmaster adds points and strips the EPT from the Scout. Maybe make the dial worse.
- Mindlink only works in pairs/becomes a 2-dot unique.
- K4 Security Droid gives a target lock action.
- R3-A2 begins with "if you are not stressed"
- Kylo nerf somehow if the rest of these go through?

Maybe some sort of MoV change to discourage trying to have the Fattest Miranda as well.
>>
>>54038114
Honestly, get whatever looks cool. From there, you can pick up a ship or two to finish up a collection or a list.

How many friends?

What looks cool to you?
>>
>>54038265
>How many friends?
There's three plus me
>What looks cool to you?
I'm leaning towards either the Imperials or Scum ships such as the firespray, starviper, quadjumper, and tie defender. How are those?
>>
>>54038232
>- Jumpmaster adds points and strips the EPT from the Scout. Maybe make the dial worse.

There's literally no way any of this will happen. The best we can hope for is that they make the Scout a unique.

>Sabine only works on dial reveal bombs.

If they added wording that makes Sabine's ability ONLY work at the end of the Activation phase when Bombs go off then they could make this work.

>- Advanced Slam does not allow bombs to be dropped

There's probably no way to make it so you can't drop Mines since those are an action. They could however reword SLAMM so that it counts as a non-maneouver like Boosting or Decloaking or Tractor Beaming.

>- Biggs is either once per round or just obstructs ships at range 1 of him

...I thought he already was range 1 only. Once per round would be an easy fix I'll grant, and would encourage swarm lists to return.

>- Mindlink only works in pairs/becomes a 2-dot unique.

Just make it Range 3 max. Or Range 1 if you want to bring it in line with Manaroo. Although this WOULD be a massive overnerf.

> K4 Security Droid gives a target lock action

Agreeable. Encourages more use of Inspiring Recruit, punishes Overclock abuse, yeah I see it.

> R3-A2 begins with "if you are not stressed"
I dunno, that nerfs other A2 holders, not just Y-Wings. I'd change it to Once Per Round so you can no longer abuse the Title to double Stress things. Although I'd argue Inspiring Recruits was FFG's answer to that already.
>>
>>54038390
Firesprays take Skill, and are far better with Scum than Empire- Kath in particular does work. Empire firesprays only have 1 gimmick, and that is triple firespray. It's a generalist ship.

Starviper ATM is bad, but a fix/buff expansion has been spoiled. The Starviper will end up being an irregularly moving ship. Don't buy more than 1 for now. It comes with good upgrade cards for other ships though.

Quadjumpers are pretty good at fucking over aces and heavy bombers. They are feagile though. OTOH, they are cheap.

TIE defenders come in 2 flavors- TIE/x7 Defenders that put all power to engines- fast, evasive, and surviveable.

TIE/D defenders carry a cannon that they can shoot alongside their main gun. They are easier to shoot down, but their movement is less predictable and they hit hard. Imperial Veterans is the fix expansion for these guys.

Any idea how you want to fly? How many ships do you want in your list?
>>
Im running a post order 66 game, characters are a mix of padawan jedi and force users. Any advice? I'm midway through the introductory adventure right now.
>>
>>54039190

Quadjumpers fill that sort of slot in lists that TIE Strikers do, that 20-ish of leftover points you need to fill with something that's relatively solid if not out and out broken.

Green Squadron A-Wings are the closest Rebels get. They used to have FCS Dagger Squadron B-Wings, but those days are LONG gone.
>>
>>54039441
Strikers don't really do that- they end up costing 23 if you don't just want a PS 1 scrub.

Really, the TIE Striker is kinda underwhelming. I do like 3 of them and a Hux shuttle though- shit's fun.
>>
>>54039334
Immediately post-66?

The PCs are hunted. Every day they stay on a given world increases the chance of capture. Every soldier of the Republic wants them, personally, dead with a passion and dedication they could not possibly comprehend. Every official channel or communication is a death sentence. Anyone who helps them in any way? Yeah, they're dead too. Probably tortured to get any information they had, whether the PCs gave them any or not.

This is quite possibly the worst time in galactic history to be a Jedi. Make them feel it.

If it's some years after, the heat will probably be less severe. The clones bent on murdering them will have been phased out, and the PCs will have more plausible deniability ("Jedi? Nah, they're all gone"). Still, even the mightiest Jedi in the galaxy only survived by living in complete and total isolation. If the PCs aren't taking precautions, the long arm of the Empire should fall quickly and forcefully.
>>
>>54039474

Yeah, low to mid 20 point bracket was what I was talking about. They aren't meant to carry games by themselves, just be a decently efficient points filler which I feel they are.
And by "they" I mean Pure Sabbac.
>>
>>54039538

I'm putting together some ideas for an EotE character, and the GM's allowing pretty much everything. I'm thinking of trying out a Force-assisted enforcer type character focused mostly into Coercion and Melee. The three main trees I want to go down are Enforcer, Aggressor, and Warden. My main issue is I don't want to be completely a combat monkey, so I was considering taking the Starfighter Ace tree and also being the group's pilot, since as of right now I'm pretty sure my career will be Warrior. I'm thinking though this is probably going to take a great deal of experience, especially if I go down the pilot tree as well. I've already decided that I should grab Enforcer early on for backstory purposes, but if I want to go the pilot route, I should probably start with Starfighter Ace so the group has a pilot they can use. What's the better option: should I start as a pilot and pick up some of the Enforcer stuff early, or should I just forget it and go full intimidator from the beginning?

>>
Question to armadafans. Can you divide armada ships by tier level? I heard it that all ships are usefull, but what expansions are must have?
>>
>>54044952
>Must have expansions
For rebels, GR-75 and CR90 are must have for sure. Having something small to points fill with is huge and CR-90s are pretty great right now, even with the recent erratas. Add in MC-30 for strongest solo ship in the rebel arsenal. Nebulon fits here too but only if you can get the squadron packs, because Yavaris is fucking cheating and will continue to be cheating.

For imps must have is the gladiator and probably the upcoming quasar with the caveat you need the fighters to go along with it. Gozanti might also fit, it wavers between this and breddy gud.

>breddy gud, not essential but quick purchases
HMC80 is super fun, and the new releases have given it new life. I built a list with it, a CR-90 with turbolaser reroute circuits and 3 GR-75s and had the time of my life because of my flying whale.

Arquitens, ISD, Raider is probably on this tier if you picked up the Quasar thanks to disposable capacitors, and its the best budget ship since it has a bunch of anti squadron items attached to it. ISDs are great, arquitens are really solid but you really want to have 2.

>fun at best
Assault frigate Mk 2 is my favorite ship to fly and painfully okay. LMC80 is trying to be and ISD but just can't manage it.

VSDs are at this tier and could be above if you give them disposable capacitors, but I'm never blown away by VSDs. They're just too slow to be relevant.

>absolute shit tier
Peltas are godawful, probably the worst rebel ship. Hammerheads are probably going to be here, but I really want to play with them before I hit them with that assessment.

Interdictors are here too. fun, really bad. Might shift up a tier with disposable capacitors.
>>

Obstruction means you add 1 evasive die due to objects in the line of fire. Shooting through asteroids does this the most, but combined with shooting at long range could mean biggs honestly becomes MORE helpful than he currently is.

You could now run a t65 list with fancy formation flying to keep long range turret lists at bay by keeping range and staying obstructed due to biggs. Also he would see higher survivability since he wouldnt bullet-sponge, just support.

Im allfor that change to biggs.

I doubt it.

I also think the diagram in OP isn't of an ISD2 but a Victory class. Victory classes had prisoner capacity as opposed to the limited capacity on the ISD2, so maybe that's why a larger section is dedicated to it.

Speaking of which, do MC80s have prisoner bays? I don't think I've ever heard of them having one. Hell, I don't think I've ever seen accurate designs or art of an MC80 interior. I'd imagine it'd be small if it did just like the ISD2. Regular SDs and Moncal Cruisers are meant for killing, not capturing.

Breaking out of an MC80 sounds like a fun idea for an Imperial campaign, especially if you just make up what's inside because no one knows for sure.
>>
>>54048668

Eh, you make a fair point.
We can have a fighter moustache and a capital moustache though
>>
>>54048673
I dont have a source, but i seem to remember that all the moncal stuff are individuals on the interior. They started as cruise liners and so they all have funky interiors based on what/who they were cruise lining for. Also they are individually built in the moncal orbital yards.

In this way they all look similar, but no two are identical, preventing the empire from exploiting a single, universal weakness.
>>
>>54048706
Now it boils down to the question of whether the Rogue One mustache has the power to oust Biggs from his throne. Seriously, I'd like to see more incentives to fly non-Biggs T-65s in this meta. Fingers crossed for a card ability that has synergy with the other T-65 aces.
>>
>>54048747
>all moncal cruisers are unique

I like that aspect, and it really does let you just make shit up on the fly if you run one regardless of the campaign side.

Now I want to run an MC80 break out. Maybe one cruiser has an area for sports or recreation from its cruise liner days and was converted into a brig?

What's a good -tough- pistol wielding combat/partial combat specialization? I'm just wanting a specialization to boost my smuggler/thief's combat survivability a little bit. I've looked at scoundrel and gunslinger a bit but they both seem very offensively geared without exactly a ton of (cheap at least) defensive abilities. Sidestep or more dodge would be nice but mostly i'm looking for even a little bit of toughened.

A breakout could be fun, especially if they run into Imperial Intelligence. The reverse of that old starwars comic about Bigg's origins in the imperial academy fighter program, the defecting. I dont know if a rebel crew has ever been bought or threatened into surrendering or defecting to an Imperial fleet. Could be really cool.

>I dont know if a rebel crew has ever been bought or threatened into surrendering or defecting to an Imperial fleet

There were plenty of Rebel-to-Imperial defectors, there's just more full stories about Imperial defectors rather than the mostly-background info of Rebel defectors. The Empire is also a lot more suspicious of Rebel defectors than Rebels are of Imperial defectors, even though Rebels too are fairly paranoid about ex-Imperials joining them.

That's an interesting idea though similar to what happened with the Rebel CIS battleship where the Empire hired a guy on the inside.

The crew PCs serve as disillusioned janitors and suddenly get an offer of huge amounts of credits to take down the MC80 from the inside to allow a small Imperial raiding party to get past unopposed. The janitors have been looked down on by the rest of the crew but because they're so familiar with the ship they know it well enough to fuck it over. Janitors breaking out of an MC80 to break the bank and join the Empire.

Chump change, here is what REALLY happened:
>players are shitty janitors that are jealous of the fact cleaning droids do their jobs for them, better than they do. They decide to fuck shit up and just become space murderhobos for the lulz. After they get tired of getting looked down on by the crew, they call an Imperial fleet janitorial union and find out they could be getting paid 2 credits more an hour to supervise the droids that clean. They dont know how to deal with that much money, and willingly betray the rebel crew to the Empire. After the coup goes all according to plan, they decide that they are done withh the fast life, and write a top hitting book about their experiences that goes viral. "The Dirty SIde of Cleaning for Scum" goes big, and the players become rich. The book eventually becomes a musical, that breaks our hearts, as well as box office records.

I'm no Empire-dindu fag but I do think the Empire was better than the Rebellion and were it not for the protagonist group being aligned against the Empire there's no reason they wouldn't be the good guys, aside from the troping idea that a big imperial organization = pure evil that people tend to grow out of.

Shitcano-I mean NuCanon-Palpy is a bloodthirsty sociopath but EU Palpy was pretty chill until after he died. Up until then he wasn't too bad and while he loved having a ton of power for himself he seemed to honestly think that what he was doing was good and it'd eventually save the galaxy from destroying itself. Extremely ends justifying the means type of guy but by no means a psychopathic killer.

How is the Empire better than the Rebellion? I will grant you that yes, the Empire did bring order to some places that didn't really have it before - but at the same time, their leadership is almost entirely composed of people who wouldn't mind committing genocide or enslaving entire races if it meant securing resources or safety.

The entire thing was built upon lies and deceptions and hatred fomented by an evil space wizard.

>>54052397
Nah. EU Palpy was just as evil as NuCanon Palpy. He just wasn't as snarky about it.

The idea that he was doing what he was doing because he thought it was good is a post-hoc retcon in material taking place after the Empire has collapsed. He wasn't prepping to save the galaxy from the Vong out of the good of his own heart, he was doing it because it was HIS, not THEIRS.

>yeah anon sure he was trying to save the galaxy from the vong but he was doing it because he ruled the galaxy so therefore it doesn't matter!

Come on now.

>The entire thing was built upon lies and deceptions and hatred fomented by an evil space wizard.

Half-truths, not lies, and Palpo's evil depends on if you view the Sith as objectively evil or not.

Did the Jedi try to overthrow the Senate? Yes. Sure, they figured out Sheev was trying to formulate himself into power, but they DID try to overthrow him and the Senate allied with him.

Was the Republic corrupt? Yes. Sure he brought some corrupt people back into power afterward, but the Republic WAS corrupt.

Did the Empire end the war? Yes. Sure Palpatine manipulated the CIS to war, but they DID end the war, and it took a few years of fighting to do so too.

Palpatine wasn't necessarily 100% honest but when you think about it he didn't lie, not nearly as much as you might think.

The Rebellion itself was inefficient, self-serving, anarchistic, and full of corruption itself. It stood for the same corrupt practices of the Republic and a Senate so bloated and incompetent that nothing could get done. It's no coincidence that in the EU the New Republic fucked up hard and was a total failure before, during, and after the Vong came, to the point where they eventually conceded and joined the Imperial Remnant and Jedi to form a tripartisan galactic government.

Fucking this. Even if Palps is on a whole other level and can and does easily beat Luke it's still a fact that Luke attacked him first with intent to kill. Before Palps even aggressed him, got a lightsaber, or went lightning-happy. The most Force he used was undoing Luke's cuffs.

>>
>>54056091
Jar Jar is interesting in that he shows how flexible Papa Palpatine can be when it comes to altering his plans. He certainly didn't plan for the jedi to secure a Gungan and make it to theed, yet watching his actions he still manages to secure a chancellorship for himself. During Phantom Menace he loses his apprentice but you can see Sheevy P already taking his first steps to secure Anakin as Maul's replacement.

Jar Jar's limited action in Episode 2 continues to show how Sheev's plan is so flexible. Even with his home system senator gone, he can use her substitute and manipulate him into pushing to give Palpy emergency powers. I doubt he planned for Anakin to make it to Geonosis but it all worked out fine despite that, and a good part of that was making sure his emergency powers were active so he could make claim to the clone army and force the jedi to act as generals and officers.

I like to imagine Sheev used Jar Jar during his early days as Emperor as a rubber stamp. Pablo Hidalgo tweeted about how Jar Jar was probably regarded well by imperial manufacturing officials as he pushed for whatever sheev wanted. Too bad its been implied he's in exile and acting as a juggler now. Its a really boring way to end a character so controversial and drawing in the community.

With Corran Miranda, you are playing a totally nontraditional game.

Corran is an Ambush predator who focuses on Hit-and-run attacks and running to preserve MoV.

Miranda is the king of preserving MoV.

really, your main concern is stuff like scum mindlink- Don't let Fenn into range 1, shit some bombs on him instead. Focus ships down until they die, unless they offer you a protectorate at range 2 in arc.
>>
>>54058132

Someone on the FFG forums brought up a nasty little list.

>Dengar
>Fenn
>Light Scyk Inaldra

All with mindlink. It's the murderous bastard child of Dengaroo and Paratanni. Inaldra with the light scyk title is 13pts and the cheapest EPT holder in the game, so her job is to bimble about the backfield taking green maneouvers and feeding Focus tokens to Fenn and Dengar who proceed to get up to their usual stress ignoring shennanigans.
>>
A friend/DM of mine is hosting a pathfinder campaign and he's allowing me to pull some stuff from the SW books to make a jedi kind-of character.

I'm essentially building a gray jedi and I'm trying to decide how to go about it. I like the idea of him being strong with force powers and with his lightsaber with a blend of guardian and consular attitudes. I was thinking of picking up Soresu, Shii-Cho and Ataru (he's high dex) when he's a Jedi Knight and I realized I could render the negatives to consecutive Blocks to 0 with Shii-Cho, a crossguard lightsaber, and having a jenraux crystal in it although my Deflect would still suffer. Worth? I think I'm the only one in a party of 3 with a potentially strong melee presence - the other two is a gunslinger and someone that relies on mechs.
>>
>>54058340
The one time that New Han might be useful- To show up and gank the fuck out of Inaldra. Or Dormitz with a Crack Swarm.

The issue here is that Dengar and Fenn are a real bitch to deal with.

If you are up against this, you NEED to get corran behind Dengar if he's your target, as his double-tap can and will eat trough your defensive tokens and punch through your regenerating shields.

Fenn is going to have to be/will be killed by Bombs.

I would force them to chase you and have Corran go after Inaldra first, and then see if you can get behind Dengar for some double taps.

Not really. He may be classy, but he's still a prick. He treated planetary genocide like a casual throwaway conversation topic, maintained the poisoning of Honoghr, still built clone armies, and allowed people like Joruus C'baoth to run free. Thrawn's galaxy would still be Palpatine's Empire, only more artsy and pretentious.
>>
>>54058440
I think the concept is assuming that uncle sheev hadn't been around in the first place. Thrawn coming to power in the empire, sure, the system seems to work, keep using it, but if he came to power during the republic, what reason has he to go all Tarkin doctrine on everyone?
>>
>>54058440

The bantha in the room here is that stuff like blowing up a planet or poisoning people wouldn't be needed or done had people started attacking Imperial forces, sending threats to Imperial leadership, and demanding Palpatine surrender the Empire to an old regime of senators and face execution in the most kangaroo of kangaroo courts. The Rebellion literally ruined everything.

The Tarkin Doctrine would probably be the only way he could get the galaxy to bow to him in the first place. The Chiss weren't part of the Republic and I doubt the Senate would recognize one of them as a Chancellor, especially an exile like Thrawn. He isn't a Palpatine-tier politician, so the only way I can see him taking the Chancellorship in the first place would be through force. If he tried to do things peacefully, the best ending he could get would probably be as the leader of the Republic navy or as a high-ranking adviser to a future Chancellor. Chancellor Bel Iblis, maybe. Or, if Thrawn could convince him, Chancellor Pellaeon.

I've put too much thought into this before.

Han Solo and Wedge Antilles are both Corellians, and both have speaking roles in the films. I know Wedge, in written material, has been described as having a Corellian accent. I don't know for sure if Han has been described as having an accent. The other accent we see described most often is "Imperial" or "Coruscanti." We can pretty well assume that's analogous to British, because most of the Imperial roles (notably Tarkin and Piett) are distinctly british, and Leia speaks with a sort of... bad, quasi-british accent in ANH. So that's all pretty consistent.

Harrison Ford has an American accent, but so does Luke, Leia (in ESB/RotJ), Lando, stormtroopers, pretty much everyone else. So that would seem to imply that the American accent is kind of a galactic "standard" human accent since all of those characters come from widely different backgrounds.

Back to Wedge, Dennis Lawson has a Scottish accent. So considering all of that, my conclusion is that a Corellian accent sounds Scottish, and Han just lost/dropped his accent after traveling the galaxy as much as he does. Wedge, by comparison, grew up Corellian and didn't really do much else until becoming a pilot for the Empire (and shortly after, the Rebellion). Alternatively, you could argue that Corellia just has multiple types of accents and take your pick.

But Corellia, in the EU anyway, is fiercely independent and only kind of resentfully a member of the Republic/Empire, so it does share some cultural similarities to Scotland in that regard.
>>

Luke isn't a political figure and wasn't acting on the behalf of his rank in the alliance (if he even still had one)

Even if some little shit attacked the President with a gun first, I'd still be a little concerned if the President then proceeded to personally torture the kid while giggling like a maniac.

The Scurrg is going to be Ordinance cancer for Scum- Deadeye Scouts 2.0

For Rebels it's more in the vein of "hey, you know what's better than having a small base point fortress in your list that shits bombs everywhere and spams TLT? How about having 2 bomb-shitting TLT points fortresses.

Also, on a similar note, does anyone know the best way to contact the Carolina Krayts? I want to advertise a bounty.

I can make some calls. What did you have in mind?
>>
Getting into FFG Star Wars, looked into making a Jedi, and I realized something. Who was the absolute retard who decided a force dice only has a 45% chance of giving you usable force points?
>>
>>54061971

All force points are usable.

Light pips are more likely to be double pips for more use, but dark pips are more frequent. You want to make some kung fu space wizard shit happen you better be really good or take a sip of that dark side bro.
>>
>>54061997
You only have a 45% chance of getting light side pips at all, double or not. It's bullshit.
>>
>>54062027

So, like I said git gud or tap the dark side.

This is OT era rules, nobody been going to space pala-monk temple since they were babies (or if they did, they've skipped some years and a few Force leg days on the way) anymore, Force Users need to struggle to lift flashlight sized objects lying in some snow a few feet away.
>>
>>54061971
>>54062027

Also, it should be pointed out, at no point does use of the dark side mean you lose control of your character or have to eat puppies or anything. Flip a destiny point, take some Strain, take some Conflict if you have Morality.

Hell, in F&D you can start out at the Dark Side tier and flip that success chance the other way. Of course, that has it's own complications.
>>

Never was that phrase more inappropriate. There is no "skill" in dice rolls, just probability. And increasing force rating is a matter of spending a shitton of XP on talents.

Back again with a follow up. Played through the tutorial with my gf and we both enjoyed it. Seems like a really fun game.

For those of you who have it, how the fuck do you organize your stuff in the box? I can't make heads or tails of the insert that comes with it and the only alternative is throwing everything in there in a big heap or just chucking them in ziplock bags

Corran
>VI
>Sensor Jammer

>Stealth Device

Tarn Mison
>R7 Astromech
>IA

Gemmer
>Chardaan

>A-Wing Test Pilot

Toss Sensor Jammer, it's probably not going to help, take R2-D2 on Corran instead.

I emailed them but haven't heard anything back-

If someone can either come in first in swiss or win a store champ (or just go undefeated in swiss if this isn't claimed by august) with a list that compfrises solely of a single small base ship, i'd like to send them a playmat. I'm working on the design now.

The point is to show that MoV is a fucky system, and I want to see some THICC mirandas.

Tell the Krayts to git gud at checking their email.
>>
>>54064759
Really, any system would be good on OL.

The card is combo bait, but w/e. 2 points for AC and mk2 engines on any TIE-is Crack Back?

4 AC Crack Shot Mk2 Omegas and Lockdown with Mk2, Comms, and Juke.

5 Black Cracks with AC and mk2 and Wampa with some trinkets.

Wait, i just realized him on a bomber costs 17.

22 points gets you a TIE/FO with Juke and Comm Relay, and an accuracy corrector with mk2 engines. That's actually really mean.
>>
>>54048460
This guy has 2 options with fitting him in a list- Ride Shotgun on Whisper for 38, or put him in a shuttle for 18.

What do you guys think of this-

Whisper with Advanced Sensors, FCS, ACD, VI, and Sienar-40
3x Omega Squadron with mk2, Juke and Accuracy Corrector-60

Or 3 Juke Comm Accuracy corrector dudes, and either 34 points for whatever carries Sienar/mod slots on the TIEs/making one of them OL.

Triple T-70s is a not terrible list.

It's very cheap for its statline and can take lots of good upgrades.

Plasma torps, extra munitions, r4 agromech, guidance chips, and mindlink is 33 points and really effective.

Dengar w/ title, expertise, k4, unhinged is similarly gross.

Intel agent, ion projector, rigged cargo chute is the best blocker around.

So I've got an Epic game lined up on the 16-7 and Wave 11 is meant to release the Thursday prior. Thinking I'll pick up a few Scurrgs and just go all-in on Scum Nym's ability with 2-3 Scurrgs, 2-3 Y-Wings and Emon Azzameen all throwing Cluster Bombs everywhere.

If I can get the C-ROC set up with Frequency Jammer and Automated Protocols behind a mine I can net 3 evades against multiple enemies and just tank hits while throwing out respectable offence between Dengar and Zuckuss.

Meanwhile the rest of my list can dump Cluster Mines out (Minefield Mapper on one of the Scurrgs to help get set up early?) to help set up a defensive perimeter while just wearing things down with TLT shots.

It might not be as competitive as "Oops, all Mindlink" but sounds like a great time.

I've always made the comparison that if Star Wars is meant to be a reflection of America (the OT at least is) then Corellia with their "Corellian exceptionalism", cowboy hotshot nature, and fierce independence (that one clause where they get to drop out of the Republic temporarily) make them Space Texas. As far as accents, take that as you will.
>>
>>54072319

The fuck are you talking about? Many people in the main galactic government in the OT and PT both are Brits. You have aliens with every culture and voice under the sun. Americans too. It's more like a conglomeration of everything ever, and I've never heard anyone, even George "JarJar's the Key" Lucas say the Star Wars galaxy is America.

It also has rules for becoming and playing a regular Dark Side user. I believe you get a boost to wounds and penalty to strain but you get to use Dark Side points freely, though I think Light Side points function the same as DS ones did before, so using them penalizes you.

Even becoming a full Light Side user does the same in reverse: you gain Strain, lose Wounds.

Using Dark Side points or even being a Dark Side user doesn't ruin the game or break the mechanics, it just inverts them. Light Side mains have better Strain and can generally do more, Dark Side users have better wounds and hit harder.

does anyone have a good guide to denote how many difficulty dice common situations should have?
>>
>>54074033
Depends on what you mean by common.

Mundane situations like opening a normal door or normal unlocked container have no difficulty.

1 dice for tasks that wouldn't be considered so simple anyone could do them if physically able, 2 dice is considered "average", so the majority of tasks players need to roll for, not counting other modifiers, would either be a base difficulty of 1 or 2.

Not very, but I do like to portray a slightly more realistic and grounded view of the galaxy. Humor but generally more down-to-earth scenarios, the scumminess of Edge, deeper character motivations, and moral ambiguity.

I try to go deeper with the stories and world than "good guy shot bad gy babbys 1st syfy storee".

Basically I play it like what Star Wars actually is, rather than this oversimplified "space opera" that some people here claim it to be.

Our clone wars game was probably the darkest part of the overarching narrative he's built up, and our GCW stuff has been marginally brighter and pulpier.

They re-interpreted Kyle, Jan, and the Dark Troopers just to kill them off in the same movie.

At least the Eclipse is coming back, though who knows what the fuck will happen to it.
>>
>>54078457
Fully agree

Dark Troopers are still sort of maybe kind of canon though, they appear in some of the EA mobile games which are allegedly canon.

In my games/headcanon I just use them both; old Legends had "Phase Zero" dark troopers who were aged and decommissioned clones experimented on with brainwashing and heavy cybernetics to replace their failing organs. Death Troopers are said to be cybernetically enhanced as well. So I just figure Mohc worked on the Phase Zero project before deciding he wanted his Dark Trooper babies to be droids instead, but the Phase Zeroes were succesful enough to be spun off into their own separate form in Death Troopers
>>
>>54078565
the Eclipse is shit and you should feel bad for liking it

Actually, clone troopers getting heavy cybernetics already has canon precedent. Look at Echo. Hurt in an attack, presumed dead, only for a later arc to have him show up with lots of special modifications.

Well, it has to be the same skill each time, and it's the next check. So yeah, if you're doing the same thing over and over again, it's good - you build up a rhythm, but it's lost if you ever have to change tactics. Ebb also hits you in the strain when you pop it. That's not really any more crazy than a high-level Move user being able to bench light freighters if he tries really hard.

If you're taking requests though, the scans we had earlier are basically missing the gear section and tables - I'd love to see them.

Am I seeing this right? Because it sounds like the strength ranks are exponential. Spend 1 force pips, activate them all, and it stacks. So, have all 4, spend 4 more pips, move a silhouette 16 object. On page 230 is says the "largest of space stations and starships" are silhouette 10, does this mean you could move the Death Star?

FFG's balance is kind of skewed. They wanted it to be somewhat conservative and more like the movies. But after roughly 200 exp if you focus hard enough you can yank shit around like its a toy.

I would be bold enough to say you can upstage Galen Marek, the Goku of Star Wars, but using magnitude to instead rip down multiple Star Destroyers down from orbit.

But at the same time. You can tip an AT-AT with 1 pip and 4 ranks of Strength. But for the same relative amount, you can short-range mass disarm an entire squad of Stormtroopers with Magnitude 4 and the disarm Control power.

Though most podcasts and even the devs themselves recommend forcing the player to make Discipline checks for difficult stuff like yanking Star Destroyers. Because while you might have the raw strength, you might not have the raw focus.

Hoth ain't so bad with one of these things, General Veers.

Thanks bro.
>>
About to start reading Thrawn. What am I in for?
>>
>>54080030
But what about the Death Star thing? Star Destroyers are sil 8, how can something thousands of times larger just be 10?
>>
>>54080520
Because the scales are exponential.

8 Stormtroopers do not make up the mass of a Star Destroyer.

It helps if you think of Thrawn as a sociopathic Sherlock Holmes and Eli as Watson

How exactly do Gank cybernetics work at chargen? Is it effectively 5000 free credits that can only be spent on cybernetics?

5k on cybernetics only, which doesn't get you any of the really shinyshinys, but there's quite a few ancillary bits out there which aren't all bad

Getting the force rating to do that is going to take a lot more than 200 xp, and you're not going to have a great time with anything but force move if that's all you dump every point into.

The same kind of work anyone else might find, really. Even warrior cultures still need farmers, shipwrights, gunsmiths, brewers, gravball teams, computer scientists, scholars, politicians, entertainers, and shitposters. It's just that instead of a normal person, the job is now held by a super/k/ommando.

Yes.
>>
A little wild question, but how good X-wing minitues scaed with Zvezda Star Destroyer?
>>
>>54085888

Going by a quick google, the scales are way out of whack

X-Wing tends to be on a 1/270 scale, whilst the SD model youre talking about is apparently a 1/2700 scale.

So that's a pretty big difference.
That said, if you really want it on the table, who gives a shit. Just make sure your friends agree on the houserules before you field it.
>>
>>54085964
>. Just make sure your friends agree on the houserules before you field it.
Nah I thought about making diorama, but I will buy it anyway (box costs less than 3 Warhammer models in my store)
>>
>>54086034

Oh man for a diorama, yeah, that could work okay.

The size discrepancy will be significant, but i mean, you gotta pick your battles I guess.

How much is it at your store? It's just over $100 on amazon.

My suggestion is to buy a dozen and make a 1/270 scale Star Destroyer. Sure, it will be 18 feet long-not a problem.

Armada is bigger, takes longer, and individual expansions tend to be a little pricier. I started with it, but it was hard to find other players with the 1.5-2 hour game time and 6x3 foot set up space. It is all about fleet combat, and the game ends at 6 rounds, which means every bit of movement counts, every shot counts, and every choice could be crucial to you winning or losing. Very tacticool and slow, but there was some meta stagnation for the past year or so. However, the game had a pretty significant rebalancing errata that has me returning to try some new stuff.

X-wing has a bigger scene, because most games are an hour or less, expansions are a tad cheaper on average, and it is all about dogfighting, with faster movement across a 3x3 playing space. Also in the middle of a poor meta, where the Scum faction is far more powerful than all but 1 or 2 Rebel and Imperial ships each, with only more good stuff for Scum on the way. Hopefully an errata will come soon.

I personally recommend X-wing just for the larger player base and ease of learning. But if you prefer grinder, crunchier games, Armada is great.
>>
>>54052793
Bring water and snacks. Announce things out loud, try not to skip steps. If using stealth device, leave yourself some sort of reminder so you don't forget that extra green die. Focus fire is crucial to victory.
>>
>>54058340
Played against that list in my 2nd round of store championships. Blasted Fenn Rau down to 1 health, and cornered him at range 2 on turn 3. 11 blank dice in a row from Vessery and Omega Leader. (Tractor roll, damage roll, damage reroll, OL) with Target locks. I tilted hard and lost that game.
>>
>>54086635
>How much is it at your store?
4,5k rubles

>>
>>54087396
So a little more than 25% cheaper than America.

I assume that those are russian rubles atleast.

I know you guys don't have FFG suppliers and relied on some podcast groups to send you prize kits- is there a big X-wing/Armada/Imperial Assault/Destiny scene there?
>>
>>54087957
>is there a big X-wing/Armada/Imperial Assault/Destiny scene there?
Well not as big as western, but X-wing still pretty popular

Need help DMing.
In AoR, I haven't been giving out nearly enough in cash prizes. I recently gave everybody 500 creds and gave them Contribution 1 & 2 since I've been pretty bad at calculating their Duty. The problem, as one of my players pointed out, is that even the second Contribution point only allows up to Rarity 5, the grade of a standard blaster rifle that they've been grabbing off of defeated enemies left and right. The issue is compounded by the fact that I've been throwing some hard-ass encounters like elite troopers and red guards. Should I use the rewards chart in No Disintegrations? Here's a list of missions the players have done, with unauthorized ops in brackets. I'm going for a Rogue One thing where they're doing things behind the Rebel Alliance's back, all for the greater good. They have the backing of a black ops commander and a Fulcrum agent; nobody else knows. I feel like those won't get "official" rewards, they mostly just make the last mission easier.

-Liberate Sullustan mining town [and assassinate the officer in charge]
-Rescue an Imperial ambassador from Partisan forces, make him sympathize with the Rebellion.
-Capture on Imperial base in a boxed canyon in the middle of Hutt Space.
-[Break into a submarine lab on Kamino where !Mengele has been experimenting on Force Sensitives]
-[Break into Palpatine's summer home on Naboo, lots of stealthing and Red Guards]
-Assault an Imperial ordnance plant. Imperial Commandos with personal shields made an appearance and nearly TPK'd the players.

I'm preparing to run my first game of Edge of the Empire, and I've got a big question for /swg/. How do you appropriately scale combat encounters for players?
>>
>>54084460
It would only take 5 pips, if you're okay with dealing with some dark side that can be done with 3 dice.
>>
>>54091240
Don't be afraid to drop one or two of them in combat. It's hard to die or even take permanent injury, so you can knock a few of them down as long as they have access to a doctor.
>>
>>54092274
That said, remember they're scrubs at chargen.
>>
>>54091240

Be careful how deep you stack minions. 6 Stormtroops are terrifying as a single minion group, but if you break them into 3 groups of 2 they're suddenly very manageable.
>>
>>54078565
>Dark Troopers just to kill them off in the same movie
Doesn't Thrawn have some following him around in the last rebels finale? They might not just be Krennic's donut steel bodyguards.
>>
>>54091453
Only if you avoid any starting stats and happy to roll 4 a lot more often than 5. Then fair enough. I personally put emphasis on being consistent and well rounded.
>>
>>54092274
>>54092289
>>54092325
I'm planning on throwing something like, six street tough minions at them, and a rival tier foe. Likely enough, they're also gonna have trouble with an unfortunate Obligation roll that'll involve two apprentice bounty hunters on their tail.
>>
>>54092744
Is she getting beamed up by a TOS-era transporter or what is with that orange shit?
>>
>>54078213

I avoid edginess for the sake of edginess, but overall I try not to make bones about just wow terrible the Empire/ the First Order really are.
