Talking SunTzu. I haven't played a lot in general yet, and it just dawned on me that the guy fires flash pulses with awesome WIP 17. I like the multi rifle option and want to try him, maybe together with a SMS drone. Is that based?

Give me a quick rundown on these sectorials, infini/tg/. Why does nobody seem to care about them in comparison to the Military Orders and vanilla PanO?
>>
>>54021530
Because people like Deus Vult and are attracted to Space Knights. That's why Space Marines are popular in general.

>SAA
Has the best MI link team in the game. Many overall solid troops with Guarda De Assaulto, Regulars, and great unit loans from Aleph like the Naga TO Camo skirmisher. Overall lends to crunchy shooty lists like PanO usually does. Was once a large tournament winner.

>NCA
Just don't take bolts as a core unless you're facing Haqqislam or Tohaa.

Has a very solid base core link with Fusiliers, some neat elites like Locusts. Their Swiss guards are great TO/Camo shooty guys. They overall play into the strengths of elite units like taking an Orc Haris.

At least that's my impression of both of them after facing them a couple of times.

>>

>>
>>54021240
If you meant the SML drone, no. Flash pulse is just a flashlight to blind people, if you don't have Forward Observer you can't mark targets for missiles.
>>
Janissaries threw me off because the Ayyar's shorter than I expected
>>
>>54023270
I think we need to list all the MI core options to even start that discussion.

PanO
>Bagh, Bolts

YJ
>Doesnt believe in MI

Ariadna
>Scotchguard, Briscards, Maruaders, Grunts

Haqq
>Djanbannans, Druze, Sekban, Lasiqs da fuck???

Nomads
>Wildcats, Moiras

CA
>Rodoks, Yaogats, probably some shasvastii but no one plays them

Aleph
>Earnmorenachos, disqualified.

Tohaa
>Triad, also disqualified

Then there are all the special links that throw characters and other units into the MI core links.

Sadly I don't have my painted Infinity models with me at the moment to directly compare some different examples, but I can further show the state of things with models I have on hand, albeit unpainted.

What you'll notice is that models have gradually upscaled since the earlier days to when they started doing Computer Aided Design for all models they made. The 28 mm scale is closer to 30 mm, even reaching up to 35 for some Heavy Infantry.

Overall, even since the early days Infinity models have had their humans more proportionate than GW, closer to "truescale" compared to "Heroic scale" which can mean it's a bit harder to paint for some, or at least, it's something to get used to.

Also a lot more girl models represented in Infinity, for better and worse, usually better.

>can you explain the appeal of them
When I started playing AoS I was looking for a cheap wargame. The AoS starter set was not expensive so I decided to do what most newbies are doing desu. Also I have always like the paladin-like aesthetic of heavy armours, big shields and warhammers so they just fit my taste. I also like the idea of mask-helmets - some people say that it makes SCE bland and "golem-like" but in see them as a living vengeance and pure purpose thanks to this. But as I said - it's a matter of taste
>or AoS in general?
I have picked the AoS when the 40k was still a big steamy pile of unbalanced and needless shit that someone would call "rules". I tried it and hate it - form over content etc. I was looking for something fresh, easy to learn and newbie-friendly so I could drag my friends into the hobby and don't fuck with a toxic community. AoS was cheap, new and there was no salty bitching """veterans""" crying about their 20yo armies (most of them were engaged in giving 9th age a chance for 10 minutes and then start playing armada) so the community was friendly as fuck. Then the GHB has come and there was no point to drop the game

I'll just say this. It isn't all that much to paint Infinity figures. The usual base coat, wash, and highlight works here all the same, something all the better because of the more details to give things texture.

Grunts and possibly Marauders. As strond as Bagh-Mari are, Grunts are both cheaper and hardier and have cheaper sniper rifles. Although they tend to be more defensive than offensive.

Bagh-Mari are probably the second best PanO Core team though, right after Magisters.
>>
>>54027690
>30mm scale.
Still too hard for him.
>>
>>54021530
SAA are lightly armoured jungle fighters, they like their Mimetism and Camo and lack some of the PanO fancier toys, but make up for it with higher WIP and Tikbalang.

NCA are basically "the best of" of PanO and they are very popular. They get cheap Fusiliers link (which is still damn deadly thanks to BS12), Swiss Guard, Auxilia and some ALEPH help like Devas and Garuda that make up for some usual PanO voes. Personally as a vanilla PanO player I like dabbling in NCA the most (in large part because a lot of their units are things I'm already using, like Fusils, Black Friar or Aquila guard).
>>
>>54021374
Yes.
>>
>>54027744
BM are significantly hardier than Grunts. +1 ARM is nice, but it's not even close to the extra protection mimetism provides. Grunts are just a good line troop link with a few fun toys like the burst 2 heavy flamer.

I'd say Rodoks and Marauders are the closest to Bagh Mari. They're both reasonably cheap and have a skill to make them tougher, with a mobility skill and lots of versatile profiles to boot.
>>
>>54023312
Fuck

NCA is essentially vanilla+, with pretty much everything included and even some extras thrown in to compensate for the usual disadvantages.

>>54024974
>how do I calculate Morale and Security
Morale starts at a given number (usually zero), and you add circumstantial and terrain bonuses to it. You can also spend Momentum to get conditional Morale Soak. Same business with Security/Interference Soak, I believe. BTS, for example, is a flat bonus to Security Soak, while Interference from High-Sec zones is a conditional one.

I've got to agree with your points BMs are very hard to take out with both mimetism and the msv. It reduces two of the best tools to deal with links, high burst and vis mods.

To add to your list the gwailo link with special characters also works pretty well.

Nano screens give them a lot of maneuverability and Sheskiin is one of the best shooters in the game.
>>
>>54029157
Gwailos are a lot of fun and pretty much carry the sectorial when it comes to firepower (especially if you don't use Sphinx), but I wouldn't put them up there with Bagh Mari.
>>
>>54028818
Yeah, NCA is more like a Classic PanO+. Some archtypical PanO-units, links and ALEPH supplements.
>>
>>54029157
>Gwailo
Shit what happened to Shasvastii? I used to see people talking about Noctifiers and Aswangs and shit all the time.
>>
>>54029296
Nothing happened. That's the problem. Gwailos have always been the go-to choice, if you want more meat in shasvastiis. Asvangs and Nocts are solo-operators, but G:s are the best link, at least with pretty much no models for Calibans.

Yup confused me. Its a nice before/after as far my painting has gone. Marines are nearly straight out of the bottle paint while OIS stuff is about 75% thinner and glaze mediums. Fun fact; the alguacil has purple and gold hair and looks like a holographic/transition color some cars have.

What are your guys favourite ways of using line infantry links outside of the standard ARO and cheerleader garrison?
I just had a very successful game as ISS against vanilla CA, and my core link was Celestial Guard with 2 Spitfires, 2 Forward Observers and a Hacker. I've got a friend who often runs a 5 man link of Alguacile's with no SWC weapons at all and a bunch of specialists and it's still a pain to take on. What other less common tricks can you pull with line infantry links?
>>
>>54039486
I normally play Haqq and SP. But I recently started playing USARF and almost all of my lists featured a Grunt Sniper team with 2-3 Snipers + 2-3 FOs, just as a defensive ARO team - which is something I never did in Haqq or SP. Also I love fielding a lone Grunt LGL Lieutenant just to move up a bit and start Spec Firing her LGL with her LT Order every turn. I've managed to ping off a few enemy troopers here and there, but she's also managed to force troopers to drop Suppression Fire bubbles in the midfield.

Hex is the coolest one on that roster. Overall though I'm surprised they're doing that many minis, presumably metal, for a Board game meant to branch out their brand. It doesn't particularly strike me as Board Game crowd friendly expecting those more casual folks to assemble such things.

Yeah, the fact that there's minis is kinda surprising to me too.
One possibility is that they'll be doing a "Special Edition" for all the people who want the models, and a normal version without models for people who don't want them?

What the Aristea! range lacks so far is some good shiny grins or shouting faces. Everybody making composed faces is dumb in the atmosphere that Aristea is supposed to have. More exhilaration, more expression, come on, play with the crowd!

Big question for me regarding Aristea is: how much terrain?

I wondered if it would be a marketing vehicle for infinity, a game with small model count that would allow you to transition to the main game.
Am glad that that's only partly true, speaks for them being dedicated to make it it's own thing.

So it's not a mere low-cost entry hook. I hope terrain will play a role beyond a mere hexboard with a handful of pillars. Making Aristea arenas would kick ass.
>>
>>54048213
I'm pretty much fucked in that regards when the Vedic, Tunguska and Varuna sectorials come out. I only play Tohaa at the moment. Funny thing if I pace myself with spending it's still far more affordable then 40k.

8-Ball seems to be the designated smiler, and the Cat-girl has a subtle smirk. I'd rather have composed faces on most dudes IMO

>I can't come up with any, but does the infinity range have any grinning/ shooting models?
A Shaolin monk is shouting or at least has his mouth open.
Daturazi also seem to be excited, kind of shouting. A Dog Warrior and a few antipodes are snarling. Bran Do Castro. One of the morlocks. Clipsos and Kamael shouts.

Scarface smiles. Symbiomates smile. One of the Krakots kind of smiles. Gogo Marlene smiles. Not sure about the Dozer A-K. LE Achilles is shouting Look ma, a monkey head. One of the Post humans smile. Ajax shouts. Tarik Mansuri shouts. PanO support packs have visible confusion and cries for help on their low WIP. A few of the bootleg models are mildly smiling. That's about all that comes to mind for me, in no particular order.
>>
So how many merc sculpts has CB released now with no blackjack nexus or locust? This nust be like 14 now right?
>>
>>54047388
>the art for lunah makes her look like a shaved knauf
>inb4 her "mysterious backstory" is she's also a Knauf clone
>>
>>54048513
At least the Nexus has a dossier now. I'd expect it about November-ish the latest.

Also, don't forget about Andromeda. She's missing a sculpt too. It does sadly seem that no one actually wants her, as she's by far the least complained about missing model.

Besides, they want to "surprise us" whatever that may mean. But Yeah, 6 outrage characters, Lunah, Knauf, Miyamoto about three times, Wild Bill, 8-Ball, Hexxer, Gata, Maximus, Dozer Hacker, and the Yuan Yuans would make about 17.

At least Blackjacks can have Muslim Infiltrators placeholding, the Locust is very open for easy conversions, and the Shikami is an easy proxy between Domaru, Hac Tao, and Miyamoto. Nexus does seem a bit strange to have missing for so long given that it's a great Lt option, almost one of the core of Onyx.

>>54048577

Some of these can make for pretty legit proxies. Hexxer is obviously a custodier but can double up as kusanagi with a quick weapon attachment. Also decent for non human factions too.

Gata looks like an interventor, could even look good as a moran. Also daktari i guess.

Parvati can sub in easy as a garuda or ekdromoi. Weapon accurate proxy too.

Bill is the dandiest hardcase ill ever see.

Kungfu panda can sub in for a werewolf and i got nothing for the man who became a tag.

Stats for catgirl should be interesting as she is supposed to be fast and mushashi is 6-4. Would she be similar with kinematika and hyperdynamics perhaps?

Not really. Just the creatively inept more or less.

And Warhammer started as a hodge podge of those settings because GW used to make licensed miniatures for most of those franchises. Like the Judge Dredd game was originally a GW product for example. So why not make a setting that incorporates miniatures and an aesthetic you're already making minis for.

Again, she looks nothing like either of them. African robowoman is a fucking centaur with a giant machinegun, and the only thing Hexxer has in common with Symmtra is flowing clothes - not even the same kind of flowing clothes.

You've let your hateboner for Overwatch get too strong, to the point where you're seeing it everywhere.

Guys... He's just Kung-Fu Panda with a Pacific Islander/Hawaiian twist. Like the guy liked both KFP and Moana and wanted to make something that mixed them.
And Wild Bill is literally a cowboy. It's not like Blizzard invented cowboys.
Mushashi has been a thing in Infinity for years before Blizzard announced Overwatch. There's nothing particular about a cyber samurai.

Bad argument based on having a poor understanding of the games and the principles behind them. I would guess you're 18-23 based on that faulty logic.

>>54058569
>Better.
Full stop. Subjective.
It's different.
Infinity is small scale. So there's more focus on individual soldiers. Each guy can have different special abilities because at the end of the day there's still 10-15 of them (about how many different units/wargear combos you run in a 40k game).
Furthermore because of the emphasis on a small scale "characterized" wargame you can make the game feel very dynamic with the combination of options that a smaller game allows. The active turn system makes both players feel involved during both their turns because you're look for opportunities to get those AROs or what the best course of reaction could be come your turn.
On top of all that the order system let's you play with the models you like. For example if you take your badass super character heavy infantry, he doesn't move once and shoot once. He can go Ham and just eat orders until he dies or kills everything in an orgy of wrrry's and such.

Typically low model count, it simulates a squad based firefight rather than a giant warzone.

Reactive orders means people on both sides are shooting at each other nonstop(or trying to dodge shots).

Super proxy friendly communities, thus super cheap to get started(Like $100 for a tournament list). No compulsory large expensive models either, though they exist(but are still pretty cheap)

All this means that infinity is a great fall back game, no need for direct competition. Think like guild ball, malifaux, LCGs, etc. You can easily do 40k and Infinity.

Rules are free, official app to build armies is free and has unit specific rule/chart links to cut down on rule lookups, super easy to try a game with friends using 40k minis as proxies.

Sounds great, I have friends who are interested in miniature gaming but don't want to get into 40k because of the time/cost involved in getting an army big enough to be fun.

Thanks for the advice, both of you. I will definitely look more into the rules and find models I like. I had a look at the official site before but it seemed to me that as a model gallery it is somewhat lacking. Are there any third party sites with good pictures of the models so I can get a better idea of how the different factions look?

>>
>>54058569
It's different in many ways, enough to make this a question not right to answer, but I'll bite.

It's a smaller scale where the models are better looking on average 1v1 and you feel like your individuals matter. By the mechanics of the Skirmish game it's not just your individuals but the actions you take as well (as the way you spend your orders matter in the way you kill, set defences, and take objectives). With the d20 mechanics needing highs and lows averages skew to give you unexpected results and other surprises.

40k, to me at least, feels funnest when it's either in a small scale (like Killteam) with a sarge and his close brothers in arms or a large apocalyptic battle with the collassals of the future and masses of bodies dying in a red flood of explosions and firepower. A game that really emphasizes your struggle in a warring galaxy much bigger than yourself. In the 1850-2k point tournament format it just didn't do it for my satisfyingly because it felt more like a game of rock, paper, scissors between net-listed factions and a dice rolling checking to confirm the results you just about expected at the beginning. Sure dice occasionally skewed things on a Ld test or some repeated 1's or 6's but even then a single unit of the ten or so dudes you so meticulously painted never felt like they made much of an impact in the scheme of things. Games between different factions just feel like one overruning the other as the dice were being thrown down. The objectives usually remain a combination of killing dudes and parking dudes somewhere keeping enemies of your space.

Meanwhile Infinity has a bit more varied missions, where limits on who can achieve objectives, through what manner, and what different actions you take feel like it matters. There are more secrets with Airborne units and hidden units keep you guessing on what your opponent has in store. More rules to learn, but it's satisfying when you use 'em. Also free army builder.

A product typically has different focus points that a manufacturer would like the customer to know about.

So first we have a general product announcement. Then an annoucement of when+where more information will be released. Then at that place/time they'll talk about the main points, separately - in this case the miniatures are a significant selling point, so deserve a distinct discussion. Then what should follow is covering any other secondary important points, the the primary product is saved for last as the big reveal.

This has been standard marketing for decades. CB is actually doing it right, but a lot of people are burnt out from other companies doing it wrong - week after week of new teaser trailers, reveals broken up for non points over too long a period(here's our standard packaging - it has a neat picture and is crappy thin cardboard - see you next week folks!), and so on.

Ghazi just like any other warband live and die on the board setup. There's really no denying ghazi are the best irregular warband-equivalent in the game, since they have phys12 smoke, wip 15 jammer, e/marut on top of chain rifles and dogged.

Saying they are an auto win button or haqq is an op faction solely because of them is simply ignorant. If you look at numbers in tournaments Haqq isn't over-preforming.
>>
>>54062682

>>
>>54061512
Is this the same bait again?
None, factions are pretty well balanced. There's no triptide or Eldar D-weapons jetbikes type lists, if you don't know tactics you're gonna lose.
That said Tohaa and ALEPH are fairly forgiving because of their unique toughness and special abilities.
>>
>>54063811

On that note, I really enjoy the aesthetic and flavor of the Steel Phalanx but it is disappointing to see how same-y the lists are.
>>
>>54058569
It's deadliness is very nice. You're almost never at a point where shooting each other gets grindy, like say 2 bolter marine squads firing at each other without much happening (don't know 8th though). Under the right circumstances, an Uzi can still be dangerous against the biggest models.

Singular units can have much more oomph and impact on the game, with more way more flexible options to act. Crawl along the floor behind cover. Stand up and run up the stairs. Jump over to the other building. Run a bit and dodge incoming fire/ shoot back at incoming fire while running. Made it alive to that supreme firing position? Then switch to another closeby unit with smoke grenades, and try to chuck one to block line of sight between the enemy and your other guy. Your other guy doesn't mind, he's got a sniper rifle and special visor equipment which sees right through smoke at the enemy, who can't draw LoS in return.

A sniper feels like a sniper. Bad at close ranges, a killer to all on long ranges. A lot of weapons and equipment feel great. Lay mines. Troopers with Holoprojector lvl2 run around in tow with two distracting holograms of themselves, and only you know who the real one is, turning shooting into a shell game. Hackers gonna hack power armoured elite troopers into immobility. Medics trying to revive unconscious troopers while engineers try to fix heavy weapon drones from having been hit with adhesive glue guns or emp munitions.

Oh shit, a thermooptic camouflage unit is revealing at a bad spot, having hid there before the beginning of the game. I got this special unit with super-climb though, so I use it to race up that office building's facade, trying to get a shot at the bastard while clinging to the wall.

Relatively for the tabletop scene, entrance is cheap. Good army is cheap. Buying a single blister, more realistically several blisters or a box, can potentially bring new experiences and playstyles to the table. For cheap. Proxying is relatively common, so even more flexibility there.

The support is great. Rules are all free, the pretty app with its bunch of at first overwhelming functions is free.

The setting and rule system allows for atmospheric tables in dense near- to far- future environments that are different to 40k's more epic apocalyptic tendencies.

I played Warhammer 40k for 15 years. Have not left it for dead or anything, but right now and for the foreseeable future, I play this game, Infinity. It's the shit.
>>
>>54064185
>>54064203
I should round out all this high praise with some criticism to stay realistic.

There is a learning curve. The first games against experienced players WILL be lost, unless they handicap themselves for your benefit. After learning the core rules, the quantity of equipment and accompanying special rules can be overwhelming at first. I suggest learning by playing, best with pleasant players rather than with WAAC curbstompers.

The selection of weapons and equipment can seem very same-ish across factions at first. The distinctions lie in the combinations of special skills and equipment available to certain troops. It's subtle, but differences are there. The payoff is a way WAY more balanced gameplay than (pre 8th?) 40k. There's no established recurring killer built for anything, switching through units and different lists is a given. Only one (sub-) faction comes to my mind where I would say that it's more easier and beginner-friendly to play than the rest, though still manageable for opponents (ALEPH SSS).

Crits are criticized by some players as being to random and influential on the game. I haven't thought much about that, I haven't reached that level of competitive play yet, am more a beer and pretzels guy.

The design of the factions modelwise can seem a bit same-ish. Got a bit better for me after learning the design subtleties through painting. Some fantastic sculpts make up for it imo.

You're going to have to prepare a shitton of game markers (little chips about the size of a base or smaller, noting states like 'unconscious' or 'camouflage') in the long run, if you don't want to borrow them from friends all the time. There are common simple methods to make them for cheap, can be a hassle at the beginning. Or but them. Buying them all poses some real extra-costs, though realistically you buy only the most common ones, and craft the rest yourself.

That's all I can come up with now.

>Have to be good to use Tohaa

Ah maybe one last thing before I shut up. I don't think that there's a pre-8th Tyranid Pyrovore lvl of useless unit, but maybe two to three handfuls of units that are somewhat less efficient than the rest, across the whole range. Some questionable point costs. Most can be made to work by playing better. Some you will generally want to leave at home and instead pick another comparable unit, but you can still proxy with your preferred model, so that's that.

Hi all. Me and my friends are thinking of starting. We like the smaller, squad based gameplay and how colourful the setting itself is.

As for factions, we're all still musing over who to go. I'm hoping they're all roughly balanced. With that in mind, how does the usual game of infinity go? Are you screwed if you find out your fireteam are against a group of TAGs?

Is the gameplay smooth? Seems so from the starter rules I've read. How is the overall balance?
>>
>>54067164
According to the recent RPG, no (or at least by such a tiny degree it's not worth representing mechanically, so at most assuming "almost no"). The "turn into werewolf and eat the department manager" though is a legitimate concern.

*My friends and I

There aren't really groups of TAGs beyond maybe two smaller ones, and usually between a TAG and a fireteam with a ML, the ML wins if it can beat the TAG at a long range F2F. TAG can also win if it shoots them one or two at a time from a range beyond the usual combi-rifle.

Usually there are no list hard counters unless you or your opponent really went for a gimmick list, like if you field an eight ninja list and I happend to have a sensor bot and some strong Multi-spectral visor to reveal and shoot them without MODs.

Gameplay's smooth once you get like 10 under your belt and no longer need to look up rules and equipment as often. Rules are tight, lots of things you can do, and most missions have objectives depending a bit on who you bring. Not usually just standing somewhere to control it.

Overall balance is pretty good, about the best interfaction balance I've seen between big wargames, mostly on the account of that just about everyone can field things with the same or similar roles.

The only faction that is really left behind and obviously worse than the others is one sub-faction of a faction which is the Shasvasti, where the link teams outside of Gwailos aren't really worth it and the troops are kind of trick based so you're generally better fielding a Shasvasti heavy Generic Combined army list to have more tactical flexibility.

That being said they still have some great units, like the Sphinx, and a core link team that can potentially have what's tied for the highest BS in the game with a special character who can join them, and they bring their cover with them with a nano-screen.
>>54067243
For the orange brown, I usually do a small coat of light pink before the orange, because the pink gives a better coverage for the orange to be over. That is the #1 tip I've found useful for painting Yu Jing

Otherwise what I do is basecoat orange brown, shade with watered down cavalry brown, highlight with Scrofulous brown up to white
>>
>>54067182
Ironically, the group of TAGs should be screwed if it goes against your fireteam. I'll explain in a moment.

The overall balance is great. Ofc you might build lists that simply won't work well, but that will not happen a lot to you after you had a couple of games and got more advice from experienced gamers.

You're overall really free in trying and combining things, with good chances that it will work out. Some lists are screwed against others, but only if you forget to cover your weak points. In time, you would f.e. learn that if you field a lot of power armoured infantry, that you should bring at least some defence against hackers, cause those dudes can be vulnerable against hacking shenanigans. There aren't a lot of cookie cutter builds or anything, just a lot of smaller combinations that synergize well.

I'd like to point out the faction sub-forums in the official infinity forum. They usually have stickied threads unit-to-unit analysis. It's a great first start to get a rough overview and orientation on your factions units. The better written threads analyse with pro's and con's and advice how to use them.

Your example above is a bit special, since it can actually be a bit tough to use TAGs, it needs some experience and the right support. You rarely face a group of TAGs, though I've occasionally seen 2 in a list. They just eat a lot into the points, so that it's hard to create a good support team with the rest of the points, and limits the options for bringing a plan B if the big guys should go up in smoke.
>>
>>54067496
>>54067837
That's reassuring to hear! I personally like diversity and there is a powergamer in our group. (IG parking lot), so I'm glad that there isn't really a set in stone leafblower type faction or list.

I've mentioned it in the post above, but same goes to you. Check in the official infinity forum for the faction sub-forums, they have sticky threads with unit-by-unit analysis, great starting point that sheds much light into a faction.

I feel we should actually link them in the general head, I think those threads are just so good for beginners.

What *is* a Red Fury weapon, lorewise?

Sometimes limiting yourself to a Sectorial, with its theme and limited choices, helps you focus when starting. You can indeed start with ISS if you so want, buying some Kuang Shi and/or Wu Ming as a starting point for your core link team, then getting your hands on various misc. units like Celestial Guard, a Ninja Hacker (should still be some blisters left even though there has been a re-pack), and such.

Other suggestions is to start "Vanilla" with a generic army and choose from State, ISS, and JSA troops you like and learn fireteams later. The Starter from Red Veil's cool because of the Hsien HMG, Tiger Soldier Combi+LFT, and Tactical Bow Ninja. Zhanshi and Zuyong are kind of meh because they seem to be units that would really shine linked together in a sectorial that doesn't yet exist, but splitting the starter gets a lot of bang for buck

The Red Fury is a scorned woman in her PMS.

But in the actual fluff:

Since modern combat is characterized by more concentrated zones of operation than previous conflicts, squads need support weapons capable of accurate and sustained fire that are light and compatible with the rest of the team's. It is true that solutions like the Spitfire, which provide more firepower for close quarters combat, exist. But these lack accuracy at long ranges and use a different casing than other basic infantry weapons. The answer to these shortcomings is the Red Fury, a generic name for these types of weapons that reflects their superior fire rate. The Red Fury comes from the standard team rifle, but is equipped with a more robust firing mechanism, able to resist the fire rate needed to keep sustained fire, and a heavier barrel to avoid overheating. Even though the Red Fury has higher capacity magazines, it has been designed to accept basic magazines from the standard team rifle. So in a long fight, the shooter can utilize his team mate's magazines to keep providing fire support.

TL;DR a Standard team rifle with mods to provide higher Rate of Fire and shock ammo

Thanks. The name sounds like a flamethrower but it's clearly not, haha.

Imperial Service works great and has its own distinctive strengths.

http://infinitytheforums.com/forum/topic/2614-a-treatise-on-warfare-the-imperial-service/

This thread delivers all information you could possibly want. Except maybe a shopping list.

>The ISS starter is solid. Imo mixed bag of good to strong agents + your bread and butter line troops.

>KuangShi are an important, often used characteristic staple unit for ISS, they're dirt cheap, effective, generate orders.

>WuMing are solid heavy infantry with good point costs and flexible options + immensely sexy models.

>SuJian cat Transformer is its own very strong and fearsome special thing, very potent.

>LuDuan and RuiShi are beautiful, powerful attack drones.

I'd say for the beginning ISS starter is pretty good, then KuangShi are often used and boost many lists, and beyond that it's whatever you're hungry for.

I started with celestial guard special weapons box + a Hsien and WuMing. The celestial guard box is old though, and there will be new models in the unforeseeable future (old ones still look neat).

I personally thought it was just a spitfire with shock but the fluff I just looked up for you made me realize the difference in the -3 range band (which I didn't notice because I roughly never shoot from the -3 range band unless I'm extremely desperate).

thanks for the link. It does seem rather complicated though. Is there something like base coat+wash=done paint scheme. My only army I ever painted was metal Grey Knights, and those I could do with 3 colors and an ink wash. Tried it with the ISS dude, but it looks horrible, sadly.

Interesting, thank you. Love that missile launcher WuMing sculpt.

I mean, you can do whatever scheme you want, they're your dudes. Yu Jing HI in metals could look pretty dope. I think one of the anons around here does it like that with some touches of red, not unlike a grey knight.

I've personally experimented a bit with how I paint Yu Jing, at one time doing snow camo, at another purple, at another Urban Camo. Make your own choices if you find the official color scheme(s) difficult.

McMurrough is an unique condition, which was caused by an Hashassin acting by the orders of the Old Man of the Mountain. He seems to have some 4D Chess plot that involves genetically tampered Dog Warrior.

What if Old Man of the Mountain is actually ALEPH playing 7D checkers across 12 planets?

What's with the historical recreations, anyway. It seems really silly; at least the Steel Phalanx are mythological characters and pure propaganda.
>>
>>54070226
Because it's cool. They're recognizable named characters with set personalities you can work with that are in the public domain. Also, Corvus Belli had a foundation in miniatures by making historical minis, so history buff stuff is more their thing. Even if that has some awkward results like units named from propaganda pieces and notorious war criminals. Simon Bolivar for the Nomads next, please!

ok.I am probably just tired of wasting money and time painting . only for the models to look shit, and me having to dump it in to aceton.
>>
>>54070995
Sounds like you're unnecessarily harsh on yourself.
>>
>>54071279
trust me, I know I that what ever I do to models is "bad painting", but somehow with inifinity models I manged to reach a new mastery. My GK for example when you look at them from the other side of a gaming table look ok. Not great, not good, but passable, as long as someone doesn't pick them up and get a closer look. My kuang chis on the other hand look as if someone took a bucket of paint and vomited it on the models. And I have redone them 3 times already. So no am not too harsh on myself, the models do end up looking bad even by standards of me painting them. there is just too many flat surfaces that have to be done in a way I do not know to look ok. A grey knights "face"/helmet you just do one color, dot red eyes and from 1meter away the face is ok. A kuang chi with Red dots instead of its eyes ona white helmet, look exactly like that. As if someone covered the model in white paint and then tried to get 4 dots on its face.

I wouldn't know. I haven't seen a meaningfully-hackable target from my opponent hit the table in almost two years.

Around here, it's all Haqq LI, Ariadna of various flavors, and Morats. The one PanO guy plays a Swiss Guard or Cutter Rambo list, but since they spend pretty much the whole game in a marker state, they're never really in a position to be hacked at all.

I don't really even bother anymore. I've mostly hung up my Bakunin and moved over to Corrigidor entirely (where one Bandit hacker is more than enough).
>>
>>54069429
As a JSA/YJ player the KHD really trimmed down the amount of times I've fielded the AHD as I'm usually hacking hackers or data-scanning anyways, the buff to EVO takes care of supportware and buffs AD at the same time, and my regular opponent nearly never fields TAGs, of which I have an answer with Oniwabans and ML, and the HI he does occassionally field as a link are damn near unhackable with their tinbots.

You may want to look into killionaires 90 minute painting on the official forums. If my >>54025037 shitty photo looks ok to you then you may want to give it a try. Its all washes using vallejo thinner and glaze mediums. My white is actually 50:50 mix of white and silver so it didnt take rediculous amounts to get good coverage. Took a bit more than i wanted because i primed grey like a tard but oh well.
